Three Things About Film Producer Tracey Edmonds

Tracey Edmonds, 41, president of and COO of Our Stories, began her entrepreneurial career by running a successful mortgage and real estate business. She got her start in the entertainment industry in 1993 when she founded Yab Yum Entertainment. Yab Yum, which means "god of love" in Japanese, is a publishing company whose songwriters penned hits for popular artists such as TLC, Toni Braxton and Diana Ross. Edmonds, a graduate of Stanford University, is also president and CEO of Edmonds Entertainment Group. She has served on the Producers Guild of America's board of governors and has been one of two African Americans to sit on the board of the Recording Industry Association of America. Upcoming Project: Stage Black

Edmonds with Edmonds Entertainment is teaming with award-winning playwright David E. Talbert, along with actors Morris Chestnut and Blair Underwood in David E. Talbert Presents: Stage Black, a TV-One reality series in which five men and five women contestants compete for roles in Talbert's new play 'Love in The Nick of Tyme,' starring R&B recording artist Avant. The judges for the hour-long series include Talbert himself, Underwood, Avant, Elise Neal, Deborah Cox and more.

Role Models

Using producer her mentor Suzanne DePasse as a role model, Edmonds is giving back to others who want to follow in her footsteps. She serves on the Board of Trustees for the American Film Institute (AFI) and the Board of Directors for Children Uniting Nations (CUN), a non-profit mentor organization.
