Dennis Rodman’s popularity with the ladies never seems to cease. The NBA rebounding legend has just signed on as commissioner of the Lingerie Football League and as an on-field presence at the event, but his plan is being kept a secret. The Lingerie Bowl III will be broadcast on Feb. 5, 2006, during halftime of the Super Bowl.

"The Lingerie Bowl has become a fan favorite because it's an entertaining alternative to Super Bowl's boring and conservative halftime shows," Rodman said in a statement. "Which would you rather watch at halftime? Lip-synching pop stars or supermodels playing full contact tackle football in lingerie? With my guidance and rule changes, Lingerie Bowl III will be the biggest Super Bowl party in the world!"
The event will also feature appearances by Jenny McCarthy, Cindy Margolis, William "The Refrigerator" Perry, Willa Ford, Adrianne Curry ('America’s Next Top Model'), Trishelle Cannatella ('The Real World: Las Vegas') and Ryan Starr ('American Idol').
NBA Stars Celebrate With The Game
Last week, Gilbert Arenas (Washington Wizards), Baron Davis (Golden State Warriors) and Paul Pierce (Boston Celtics) were on hand at New York’s Quo to celebrate the release of rapper The Game’s new Hurricane sneaker. Game arrived at the party with about 50 cats in his entourage and had a slow time getting in, since every single person was searched. The NBA ballers and Game had played some ball earlier that day at the annual Rucker’s Basketball Tournament in Harlem.
Michael Vick Visits Shooting Victim
Last week, 8-year-old Hassan Reed was hit by a stray bullet in a drive-by shooting in southwest Atlanta while at a birthday party. During an interview with a local TV station, Reed said it was his dream to meet Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, his favorite professional athlete. Vick heard about the story and, on his way to his second annual youth football camp, he stopped by the V-103 radio studio to surprise Reed.
"He was surprised. He was shocked," Vick told reporters after the visit. "He opened the door, and a big smile came on his face. That was great... they let me go upstairs and meet him, and, you know, let him have a dream come true. That was special. I really enjoyed the moment."
Ron Mexico Makes an Appearance in Video Game
Speaking of Michael Vick, his alias Ron Mexico is making an appearance in the upcoming game, ‘Blitz: The League.’ Published by Midway Games, the game is taking stabs at the NFL, calling it the No Fun League and bringing the violent and off-field stories of pro football players to the gaming market. Some of the stories are penned by former ‘Playmakers’ writer, Peter Egan.
"It's not 'Playmakers,' " Egan told IGN.com in an interview. "It's a completely new league created specifically for the game. As you know, the NFL nixed 'Playmakers,' so here is an opportunity to really bring you in a world and tell a story about characters and take you as a game player through an experience on the field and off the field where each has an impact on the other. You can't do that on TV. There are only five networks now and four out of the five networks have deals with the NFL, so you can't do anything that has the grittier or edgier stuff. So where do you go? You go to the video game, and it's a game where if this title works, hopefully there will be another game with a whole new set of characters and a whole new experience from a story standpoint."
NFL legend Lawrence Taylor will grace the cover of the game as the fictional Quentin Sands. Look for ‘Blitz: The League’ to hit stores in October.

Former NBA Star Gill Wins in Boxing Debut
Kendall Gill, former Milwaukee Buck, made his boxing debut this past weekend and came out a winner. Weighing in at 199 pounds and standing at 6-foot-5, the former 14-season NBA shooting guard took his opponent, Trevor Biley, to task, knocking him down three times in the opening round and winning by technical knockout. The referee stopped the cruiserweight bout at 1:58 into the first round.
"My team prepared me exactly the way I'm supposed to be prepared," Gill told reporters. "I want to fight one more time and then go back to the NBA. I'm a very young 37."
There has been no announcement on when Gill’s next fight will be.
Shaq-Diesel Earns His Master's
While the Spurs and Pistons were battling it out in the NBA Finals, Shaquille O’Neal was finishing up his master’s degree. The 7-foot NBA star earned a master’s in business administration from the University of Phoenix and picked up his degree at the Forum in Los Angeles.
"It's just something to have on my resume [for] when I go back into reality," Shaq told Sports Illustrated. "Someday I might have to put down a basketball and have a regular 9-to-5 like everybody else. Sports for me has always been, you know, fairy tale life. And this right here is real life. This right here means more."
Shaq worked through his classes online and at the school’s West L.A. campus before he was traded.

MLB Stars Sing and Spit Rhymes
Whose idea it was, we’re not sure, but a CD of professional baseball players singing and rapping? On the compilation album, 'Oh Say Can You Sing? Music Recordings by Major League Baseball Players,' a handful of players come to sing some of their favorite songs and showcase their talent. While most of the album is full of country and bluegrass covers, both Jimmy Rollins of the Philadelphia Phillies and Coco Crisp of the Cleveland Indians came with some original rhymes for their contributions. Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith also came through, singing Sam Cooke’s 'Cupid.'
"My first thought was, this can't be anything cheesy," Rollins said in a statement. "I'm not saying I had illusions that we were going to go gold or platinum, but I wanted to make sure it was legit and we weren't just out there making fools of ourselves. When I was assured the project was going to be professional, I said, 'OK, I'm on.'"
Okay, J-Roll, whatever you say. You can check out samples from the album at Goodsportsrecordings.com.
