Baseball All-Stars Party in Motown

Although not as big on celebrities as say, the NBA All-Star Weekend or the Super Bowl, Major League Baseball’s All-Star Week does bring out a handful of celebs and well-known athletes. This year, All-Star Week was held in Detroit and the folks of the Motor City were ready for a good time. While most of the MLB events were held at Comerica Park, there were a couple of parties around the city.

The most popular celebrity event was the All-Star Legends and Celebrities softball game on Sunday. Bo Jackson, Dave Winfield, Chris Webber, Billy Bob Thornton and Jon Lovitz were among those who participated in the game.

On Sunday night, the Diamonds and Dolls all-star party was held at Sevin and hosted by a handful of Playboy playmates including Fox Sports Net anchor Lisa Dergan. The guest list included Yankee Derek Jeter and Lions quarterback Jeff Garcia.

On Monday, party-goers headed out to the Privilege Party at Club Envy hosted by the Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez and the Red Sox’s David Ortiz. The party was apparently an exclusive event and lasted from 10 PM until the sun rose.

The week may not have been what most fans expect from an NBA All-Star weekend or Hawaiian Pro Bowl, but just call it a warm-up for Super Bowl XL. Detroit will host Super Bowl XL on Feb 5, 2006.

Master P Tries Out for NBA Again

After trying out and playing in the NBA summer league for the New Orleans Hornets, Toronto Raptors and Denver Nuggets, Master P at 35 years old is once again tossing his hat into an NBA career. P will be playing for the Sacramento Kings in the NBA’s summer league as a guard. He hopes that some NBA team will pick him up after the summer.

"Right now, I just got on the summer roster for Sacramento. So, Mike Bibby [is] hurt, I'm going to go handle that for him and Cuttino Mobley in the summertime. Hopefully, they'll keep me for the regular season," P told SOHH.com. "New Orleans [Hornets] should at least pick me up because they ain't winning a damn game. Atlanta Hawks, I done beat a lot of those players on the team." The summer league will be held in Vegas this year with each of the 13 NBA teams playing five games in 10 days. Last season, P was putting in work in the ABA basketball league and even participated in the playoffs.

"We won the USA-ABA national championship this year," P said. "I played with the Utah [Snowbears]. We ended up playing the Long Beach Laguneros in the championship. [Long Beach] should have never traded me."

Master P also recently released a new album, ‘Ghetto Bill.’

LeBron Planning Asia Tour

Dennis Rodman Can’t Carry His Wife or Anyone Else's

Last week, Dennis Rodman flew out to Sonkajarvi, Finland, to participate in the 2005 Wife-Carrying World Championships. One snag however, is that he was unable to bring his wife, Michelle Moyer, to the event because she had a broken leg. So Rodman snatched up a local girl to carry in the competition. The 235-meter race began, but Rodman opted out after 100 meters. Apparently, The Worm wasn’t in shape for the race, which featured rocky terrain, hurdles and a water-filled pool. He vowed however, that he would be ready for next year’s competition.

The winner of the race was eight-time wife-carrying world champ Margo Uusorg and his "wife" Egle Soll. They ran the course in 59 seconds and won a cell phone and Soll’s weight in beer.
