3 Men Beaten By Philly Cops Acquitted



Three men beaten by Philadelphia police on the hunt for a police killer were acquitted Wednesday of all charges stemming from their arrests.

Jurors who watched a 10-minute news videotape (seen above) of the violent arrest said it did not influence their verdict on the attempted murder and other charges related to a triple shooting earlier that night.

Miracle Crash Survivor Returns Home

A French government plane carrying the young girl believed to be the only survivor of an Indian Ocean plane crash arrived Thursday at a Paris airport from Comoros.

Bahia Bakari, 14, was brought back to France on the plane carrying a government minister and other French officials.

Cynthia McKinney Captured By Israeli Navy

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — The Israeli navy intercepted a ship carrying foreign peace activists this week, including former U.S. lawmaker and Green Party leader Cynthia McKinney.

McKinney, a longtime activist for the Palestinians, says her boat, the Spirit of Humanity, was carrying medical supplies, cement, olive trees and children's toys to Gaza when it was seized by an Israeli navy ship.

Justices Delay Troy Davis' Execution Appeal

CNN -- The U.S. Supreme Court delayed a decision on whether to accept an appeal from a Georgia death row inmate who has gained international support for his claims of innocence in the the murder of a Savannah police officer two decades ago.

The justices were scheduled to announce Monday whether they would take the case of Troy Davis, but no order was released. The court is expected to take up the matter again in September.

NEW YORK -- Historic swindler Bernard Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison Monday for a fraud so extensive that the judge said he needed to send a symbolic message to potential imitators and to victims who demanded harsh punishment.
