When the Republican Party revealed that Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin's 17-year old daughter was 5-months pregnant, the ''issue'' of teen pregnancy again came to the nation's fore. According to Planned Parenthood, a startling 31 percent of American women become pregnant before the age of 20. Two-thirds of teen parents do not finish high school. Parenthood in youth often forces young people to forfeit their dreams -- or even their chances at life above the poverty level.
There are some, however, who did not allow being a teen parent to stifle them or their children. From Oprah Winfrey and Bristol Palin to 50 Cent, Nikki Taylor or Barack Obama, we present famous teen pregnancies.
