Black Journalist in America? Where??(67)

Even CNN’s “Black in America” they appeared to have gone and gotten the same ole talking heads that are on every Sunday, on TV-one, Black enterprise, Summits like DL Hugely, Angela, TD Jakes and Cheryl Lee Ralph-to say the same ole stuff. I hate to tell white America but rappers, actors and Preachers do not speak for all black folks. I am sure that CNN's second installment "Black Men in America" (we have an entire show for ourselves" will be the normal black male bashing. DL Hughly (who does nothing for the community-in fact when some brothas in Hollywood wanted to start some inner city spiritual groups for black men-DL Hugley didnt even have the time to do that-but yet white people found him and put him on as a speaker of black men)

Why do news stations like CNN, MSNBC and others-that do investigative reporting never use black journalist?  Even if the targeted audience is black they still use white, Hispanic or East Indian journalist to report black issues and stories in the black community.

There has been a decline in black journalist getting employed in television. There has been a rise in white females, Hispanics, Indians from India, Southern whites but blacks have been dropping in numbers. All blacks get are these clowns like Larry Elders or Rubin or these radio blacks who also moonlight as a reverend to speak for blacks-and they are wrong or just tokens of the white racist mind set.

When CNN does something in Africa-they send every other journalist BUT the black ones.  They will send white to Africa, Europe and send the East Indians to Africa, Europe and Latin America and even send Rick Sanchez and Geraldo Rivera to cover the Hispanic communities but when it comes to covering the black communities or Africa they make an effort to use non-black journalist. It is as if they think that the black journalist will get together and start some revolt with the natives.

The cable stations do not give any PR, promotions and jobs to any black doctors, sociologist or international journalist.  They have every other ethnic group doing the international stories and when it comes to the black journalist they are lucky if they get to interview or report about the “cat stuck in the tree!”

Even Barack Obama didn’t do his CNN interview with Suzanne Malveaux (the CNN journalist from New Orleans who is one of the best political journalists on television)-Obama was interviewed by the new guy at CNN-the East Indian-Fareed Zakarha ???

Then again, Obama could have asked for a certain journalist being that Jews ask for Jews, Hispanics ask for Hispanics and white men ask for Fox News (where they know that white men run the show) but blacks just accept anyone and half the journalist do not even like blacks so you never know how the interview will be slanted and twisted.

Simply RACISM !

I think that most of the "white" control entities look to keep Black People "OUT".  You have those white folk that are so insecure, so fearful, that large numbers of Black People (particularily Black Men) will prevail in their choose arena, AND control it one day - And SHUT THEM OUT!

How else can one explain it.

Payback is a B!TCH!

MSNBC has a few black folks, though they are not in major roles. Tamaryn Hall is anchor in the late mornings, Gene Robinson from the Washinton Post is a regularcommentator for election coverage, and they have several guest commentators whose full names I can't remeber right now- Johnathan something, Tanya something, another sister whose name I can't recall. They seem to have about seven regulars, more than CNN and definitely more than Fox.

Now I did wat6ch some of the Black in American special. I was also disappointed that they had the same set of folks on there. The only one missing was Tavis. Just once I'd like to see them switch out the talking heads for a business owner, a health care expert, and a college professor who is not Cornel West.

If you watched CNN's Presents-Blk in America. There was so many white producers behind the scene. You could tell that the main agenda was to scapegoat black men and black boys. The supposedly expert panel of chosen Negros didn't even address America's systemic racism. Why? The media outlets make has such a fear of black men that they made show that this CNN "blk in america" and was only cosmetic in blackness and Essence magazine is so scared, passive and backwards that they just wanted the PR and their brand marketed by CNN.

Just once I'd like to see them switch out the talking heads for a business owner, a health care expert, and a college professor who is not Cornel West.

the problem with that is: not everyone who is a business owner, health care expert, or even college professor is suitable to be used in a media situation.

so are you coming to UNITY this week and pose your questions to folk who can give you real answers or gonna stay here and whine about what you don't understand??

Ma'at Hotep Family,

As far as I am concerned this program broke no new gound in the relationships between Blacks and whites in america in general.  Whenever I see a program designed to illustrate the plight of Black Afrikans in America, the same old tired rhetoric abounds.  These programs do not hit white America where it should.  The Willie Lynch method of divide and conquer is still working just like he said it would.  Also, I wish Black women would stop making excuses for wanting to date and/or marry white men.  To say that they cannot find a Black man their 'equal':  what the hell doe's this mean?  If a sister desires to date and/or marry a white man, they shouldn't make that tired excuse of not being able to find a Black 'man of their equal'.  The things that affect the Black race in America such as racial bias in employment, in housing, and in community control; the fact that white's control the education of our youth and control the gestapo police in our neighborhoods, the fact that the health and medical situation in the Black community is atrocious and in dire need of a quick fix, and many other deplorable situations that keeps the Black Afrikan communities in and around America in extremely stressful and unhealthy conditions, keeps our neighborhoods on a war like footing.  New ground must be broken and the white race must be education in what slavery did to us and continue to do to us.  They must be made (if possible) to know how Black slaves were treated:  our women raped, our men savagely  mutilated, beaten and/or murderded, our children taken from their mothers and fathers and sold, our people hunted like deer and other wild animals, the ill-treatment of slaves in general:they were worked from sun up to sun down, given the poorest of food, no medical attention provided, women were used for sex and raped at will, etc.  I could go on and on but I'm sure you get the point.  It's time the white people in this country be told the truth and nothing but the truch so help them.  And, to continue to put the church and those sorry preachers in the mix is tiresome as well. Hotep.

I agree with all your points except the one about Black women making excuses to be with/marry a White man.   Now, first of all, I'm not attracted to White men and don't and have never dated them, BUT, all I see are Black men with White womenm all the time.   Personally, I don't care who likes who, but it certainly is more prevalent with men into White women or other nationalities.   They seem to think the White women are better.   Never could that be.   There's nothing like a Black woman.   We as mother love our children better and You have to know that I'm accurate here.   Back in the slave days, we proved what we were when we supported our Black men and cared for all the children while he was off being disgraced by another man of his equal.

I could go on and on.   I'm so very happy and proud to be a Black woman.   All people falter and don't do so well sometimes but that has nothing to do with Blacks on a whole being great people.

COME UP TO THE 21ST  CENTURY?   WHERE ARE THE BLACK JOURNALIST?  IT SEEMS THEY ALL WANT TO BE ANCHORS ON TV.

IS IT FOR THE MONEY?  DO THEY BECOME NOVELIST? I'D LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE WRITING. I WOULD LIKE TO BE ENLIGHTENED.

No, I won't, but I can imagined what it will be like. It will all be about their favorite Son Barack Obama. Everything seems to be about him. They will be wondering how to approach him after or if he becomes President. They probably don't know yet. But it is sitting in their stomach. They will play it safe now. But when and if that Special Day comes, they are wondering how do I address this?

Historically, black newspapers and radio stations were created to provide blacks the opportunity to receive equal access and fair representation in the media; as their white counterparts would primarily give coverage of blacks committing crimes, depictions of buffoonery, or even classified ads and public notices listing the purchase and sale of slaves, and not our leadership and accomplishments.  But the key to having a guaranteed voice, was and still is media ownership.

Likewise today, as compared to the American population of children (75 million; which is 25% of the US population), positive youth representation in the media is quite disproportionate.  Generally, the news tends to focus on the unlawful and negative behaviors of kids, and not their acheivements.

Standing up to the plate, is America's youngest terrestrial radio Talk Show Host --11 year-old African American, Shali Jonzun.  Jonzun who is the Founder, Owner, Co-Producer, and Host of Jonzun Radio Kids, is encouraging young people to achieve by giving them positive media representation.

In addition to his own show, Jonzun Radio Kids, Shali is the Co-Host & Production Asst. of his celebrity dad's all star music & entertainment radio talk show, Audition Radio. (www.AuditionRadio.com).  Shali's dad is Multi-Platinum Hit Record Producer/Songwriter/Artist,  Michael Jonzun, who has sold well over 200+ million records worldwide.

For his accomplishments as a radio Talk Show Host, and mission, Shali has received a US Congressional Recognition Award by Nevada Congresswoman, Ms. Shelley Berkley, he's been named 'Entrepreneur of The Month' by K.E.N.N.Y.Kids Magazine, he was an invited Education Celebration Youth Panelist along with actors Chris Massey of Nickelodeon’s  ‘Zoey 101’ and Disney’s Kyle Massey of ‘Cory In The House’ at the star studded Black History Month/6th Anniversary Celebration of Mr. Don H. Barden’s Fitzgeralds Hotel & Casino, and he's just been named America's ‘Amazing Kid! Of The Month for July, 2008,’ and Youth Ambassador by Amazing Kids!  (www.Amazing-Kids.org)

Real Brother here.

Cpohion I think overall I tend to agree with you but you dropped the ball on making the wrong assumptions about White people and their role in Black women HATING Black men and wishing they were White and the LIE that Black women were "raped" when the same dynamic that TODAY finds 20% of Black women Selling Out with White men was at play back during Slavery; Black women think White men are Superior and are eager to get with them to gain an advantage over Black men(who Black women despise) and to get babies with light skin and "good hair" etc.

Also FALSE is the LIE that some man named Willie Lench could see 450 years into the future and anticipate that Black Idiots would be hating and killing each other over him 350 years after his death(if he ever existed in the first place).

As for the "quick fix" a good start would be to expose and reject this MYTH that Whites are Superior and as such can manipulate and program Black people from Willie Lynches grave 350 years after his passing.

As for the Media, today's Media is controlled by White Supremacists, White Racists(Fox) and Black Man Hating Black Lesbians(BET, TV/Radio One, Essence, Ebony, Tyra, Oprah, Terry McMillian Black Man HATING Books etc.). Shame on responsible Real Brothers and Sista's (myself included) for not getting our voices heard and combating all of the nonsense that the Enemies of the Black Race are airing.

The Solution is to END Black Self-hated and namely the HATRED of Black Men by Black women so that our families and communities can be strong again. We need a 100 Year Moritorium on all Self-hating Sellout Behavior(Blacks HURTING and HARMING other Blacks and Blacks DATING and MARRYING outside the Black Race), this is the ONLY solution.

No Sellout.

Vnorris I disagree with you. The bottomline is WOMEN CHOOSE and with 90% of all Black women HATING Black men and 70% of ALL Black women GAY this leaves a lot of Black men for White and Asian women to CHOOSE. The overwhelming numbers of Black men with White and non-Black women is a direct result of the HATRED that 90% of Black women have for Black men and the fact that 70% of Black women are gay.

There's nothing like a Black woman.   We as mother love our children better and You have to know that I'm accurate here.   Back in the slave days, we proved what we were when we supported our Black men and cared for all the children while he was off being disgraced by another man of his equal.

The above statement is FALSE(and Stupid). How can Black women be "better" mothers when 80% of Black women are raising their children alone because they either RAN the fathers of those children off with their HATRED of them or they purposely CHOOSE the wrong man who didn't love or want to be with them or who they didn't love and or want to be with on purpose just so that they could raise the child alone or with the other Black Man HATING Dyke?

Another LIE is that the Black Race was enslaved because Black men were defeciant and the White man was Superior. No, the FACTS are that Black men like Black women had no prior experience with White men before Slavery. Black men before Slavery didn't even know what or where America was. It took Black men 150 years to adapt to life in the American South giving Whites a 150 year advantage over Black men. Black men had to learn the language the culture and customs and then and only then could a serious challenge to Slavery be mounted. Meanwhile the Self-hating wish she were White Black woman was stabbing the Black man in the back trying to get next to the Slave Master so that she could thumb her nose at Black men and get light skinned babies with good hair.

The Black women were the disgrace not the Black men (who were the only reason the Race survived Slavery).

No Sellout.

As a Real Brother who is a Black Journalist I agree with you Pcenhap that there are few if any real Black Journalists and you won't find many either. The White press is really about White people and the Black Press has been Co-Opted by the Black Man HATING Black Lesbians(as they have education, religon, politics, our families our blue collar jobs, these Message Boards).

Real Brothers like myself are partly to blame for it ,we could have protested the Black Lesbians taking over but Alice Walker and Terry McMillian and Essence Magazine and Oprah and them became so popular and made so much money that the marketplace simply had no room for any other type of Black Journalist. A few Black filmmakers broke thorugh (Spike Lee, John Singleton) but eventually the White Supremacists and Black Man HATING Black Lesbians began pushing silly Black Comedies and Black Male Bashing pro Black Lesbian movies(The Color Purple, Waiting To Exhale the gay azz Tyler Perry in a dress movies) and the serious Black filmmakers were through.

I'm doing what I can (I'm currently working on my first Novel) but the truth is right now its not our time.

No Sellout.

You must be joking have you not heard of the drop out rate among Black's so how can one become a journalist if you cant read or write, did you ever hear of education , it works one must be able to read and write.  All you seem to do is complain , what about your all black shows and magazines, where are all the whites or asians, what about Black history month ,there is not that must history ,and now it's black music month , what about black on black crime month , or ride by shooting month ,

None.
When are blacks going to stop making excuses for our failures I work in a school and I see kids who have no regard for anyone or anything and until we continue to blame slavery for our short comings instead of looking to ourselves. We need to stop looking back and start taking respondsibility for our own failures.

No Realbrother, the stupid one is YOU.    First of all, when an opinion or thought is different from yours, didn't your mama teach you not to call names?   Who are you to call someone stupid because you think you are smarter or have the answers?    If you had the answers then why is the world in this State of affairs and trying to make it a Black and White issue?    Come on, tell me.   Never mind, your opinions don't matter to me.   There's so much to say about the subject and very many opinions on it.   You never stated why 90% of Black women hate Black men?   Do you think it's because of men like yourself?   Stop thinking you are so together and no one else's opinions matters.
