Where do you stand?
Abortion is advocated only by persons who have themselves been born. -Ronald Reagan "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." Martin Luther King Jr. (1929 - 1968), Strength to Love, 1963

Go fu*k yourself! This article is not saying anything that we didn't already know. It's indicative of the state of Black America which is not good solely because the state of Black men is not good. As the man goes so does his people. This is common knowledge. What the moron who created this thread and your dumb condescending ass would have us believe is that this further supports the myth that Blacks are inherently intellectually inferior. And in mtsy the misogynist cowards view its all Black womens fault. You are both dismal fu*king losers with no credibility in the Black community or redeeming value. Both of you stupid ass christian white supremacists can immediately go to straight to hell you dumb fu*ks.
"If there exists a vindictive GOD who would sentence me to eternal damnation based upon my rejection of the acceptance of his son as my lord and saviour considering the wholly suspect and sketchy evidence available then so be it. These are clearly not the kind of beasts I want to spend eternity with anyway and I'm serious. The whole scam reeks of human inspired manipulation. Those who would follow such a ruse are fools and deserve their dependent lot in life". Immensestream |

This doesn't have to be the young black man's fate if he has himself together or if he wants to get himself together. No one can stop you from attending college or wanting to go to college and get a college education. No one can stop your drive to succeed if you REALLY want to succeed. Yeah, people will try to stop you and a lot of people (black or white) may not want you to succeed. But this doesn't have to be your fate just because "statistics" say that you are failing in society or whatever. Here is a quote from Michael Jordan. I think a lot of black men and women should live by this quote as well. "I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed". Enough said!

I think all this means is that we haven't been trying hard enough and our priorities are somewhat off. NOT that we're intellectually inferior. I mean, even someone intellectually inferior doesn't have to end up being a criminal. |

Man, that was harsh. Even for her and mts1. Yes, and trust there's not a more deserving duo. Perhaps some equally deserving but hardly any more so. I think all this means is that we haven't been trying hard enough and our priorities are somewhat off. NOT that we're intellectually inferior. I mean, even someone intellectually inferior doesn't have to end up being a criminal. I read this article this morning in the newspaper. I understood fully what the piece imparted and frankly I received no education nor benefit from it. My comments were directed to dumb and dumber who promote this kind of negative press to justify their dysfunctional belief that Blacks are inherently inferior as evidenced by the dismal record of their past sad rhetoric. While I can agree with you in that many of us have misplaced priorites to be sure, I will never defend or support the agenda of those whom I fully understand to be much more detrimental to my people then we ourselves ever have been.

where did they get those stats from. How many people did the include in those numbers, what part of the country did they survey, I notice with these studies they offer alot of percentages but never were they got or how they got these numbers THE QUESTIONS YOU ASK ARE THE SAME ONES THAT I'D LIKE TO KNOW THE ANSWERS TO! IN MY AREA MNOLS/ST PAUL I SEE BLACK MEN WHO ARE TEACHERS,LAWYERS,DOCTORS,BANKERS,BUS DRIVERS,MECHANICS,PHARMACISTS,AIRLINE MECHANICS,POSTAL WORKERS,FIREMEN,POLICEMEN,TRUCK DRIVERS ETC ETC. BLACK FOLK WHO ARE UPSTANDING MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY. I'D LOVE TO BE ABLE TO DISSECT AND ANALYZE THIS STUDY! PEACE NO NUTS NO GLORY!! |

I am a baby boomer. Most of the people I grew up with were working class poor. There was almost daily standing on corners, drinking wine, some used heroin as teenagers. Constant complaining about nothing to do, but disdaining higher learning all the while. Having oppurtunities to start a real business from street hustling but being content with the "hustle" aspect. I could go on. But these problems are decades old. I think one of the things happening or been happening, is that the Black population is rearranging itself by real progress and backwardedness. What you see is Darwinism. Survival of the fittest. Moreso in the way of the intellect, than just physical survival, though. A whole lot of energy and creativity was buried during the slave trade and slavery... |

This sucks! Instead of this article inspiring people to be mentors to these young boys, to be positive role models in their lives...I bet all my money it's going to be another Black Battle of the Sexes. Regardless, the articles is very insightful and it goes to show that we need to be tougher on these little boys. We have to expect more and want more for them so that they will want more and do more for themselves. We have to stop ignoring the little crap they do that we brush off as just apart of being male. We have to teach these boys the right ways to go because if we don't, there is no hope for all of us.
Sometimes yall have me looking at the computer like this!!!

Well it should not be gender thing but it is. The thing is, is that if these were black girls and women, no one would be saying, "lets get tough on our little girls", right? do you not find something sexist about that? That somehow black men just dont want to help themselves get better, and black girls do. But we all come from the same parents right?
