I don't know if other people feel this way but here's my 2 cents worth.  These actors/actresses spend millions on clothes and go to the Oscars to congratulate themselves on how great and wonderful they are.  Yall think about it...they have a 'job' that young children do just as well as the adults (Dakota Fanning)..they do a job that requires NO education, helps NOBODY, doesn't save lives or teach children.  Yet these pompous morons parade in Hollywood and parade down the red carpet to their big fancy award shows as if they were important people.  Am I the only one disgusted with this?  I can't watch those shows.

I don't feel jealous I just don't like the self-important way they act and the way they push their political beliefs on everyone else.  Sorry you disagree...just voicing my opinion.

As far as Flyleaf goes I don't know what to say, I know that Lacey is not the type of girl to toot her own horn and is very humble.  I've know her since she was 16.  We'll just have to see how things go...their album is #5 on Billboard heatseekers chart and #23 on the rock charts.  She plays a lot of different instruments and is a talented singer & songwriter.  I'm very proud of her.

I don't feel jealous I just don't like the self-important way they act and the way they push their political beliefs on everyone else.  They're no different from anybody else.  You think the Republican party is not pushing their political beliefs on everyone else?  The Democratic party?  Everybody in the public eye is pushing something.  You don't like Hollywood because they are not pushing what you want pushed.  If they were bigoted homophobics, would you watch the show then?  Sorry you disagree...just voicing my opinion.  That's all they're doing--just voicing their opinions.  No one has to agree with them.

As far as Flyleaf goes I don't know what to say, I know that Lacey is not the type of girl to toot her own horn and is very humble.  I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but I'm sure Warren Beatty's mother said the same thing once upon a time.

ok..I don't want to fight.

I agree with you 100%.

These actors/actresses spend millions on clothes

========================

Not always..a lot of their threads are donated just so they can advertise for the designers. The jewlery is almost always loaned with bodyguards around to ensure nothing happens to it.

and go to the Oscars to congratulate themselves on how great and wonderful they are.

=================

Peer recognitin is important among any profession even drug dealers and criminals. So I'm cool that they seek recognition from fellow actors/actresses.

Yall think about it...they have a 'job' that young children do just as well as the adults (Dakota Fanning)..

================

I've never been crazy about kid actresses. I think kids should stick to variety shows and public service announcements, and limited (not starring) roles in motion pictures...perhaps Disney only. I surely detest when young stars become emancipated from their families and are basically raised by the "profession."

they do a job that requires NO education

===================

Most of the high caliber actors/actresses have been formally trained and several do have degress in areas that will give support to  acting,directing, writing, etc. There are though, poor white trash celebs such as Demi Moore.

Yet these pompous morons parade in Hollywood andparade down the red carpet to their big fancy award shows as if they were important people.

========================

It's a given that celebs are among the most insecure people on the planet. My friend works for one.

Am I the only one disgusted with this?

==================

Nope. What I  hate most is that the Blacks who have won awards have done so by playing in highly stereotyptical roles; criminals, low-lifes, sex crazed, etc.  I don't see how Denzel, Halle, Terrence, can be so proud about being recognized for playing roles that white believe is the status quo for Blacks in true life.

I can't watch those shows.

=================

I stopped watching the academy awards after they dogged out The Color Purple.

Oh, it's good, harmless fun. I just wish there had been better movies this year.  I wish that for pretty much EVERY year.

=============================================================

My opinions about the Academy Awards have nothing to do with the entertainers and or how much they pay for their clothes. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is a racist organization that refuses to recognize actors and actresses of color for their excellence. Of course they have awarded the statue to a few tokens over the years, but the message is still as blatant as ever. I refuse to watch the show.

i agree with your statements. hollywood has lost originality. they make remakes after remakes. in my opinion king kong should have won for best actor. deniel washington was given an oscar because julia roberts pushed it. he should have won for malcolm x a long time ago. we as black people should stop playing roles that stereotype us.

I guess I am not so much disgusted by it than just bored with it.  The Indie festivals and awards have a better diversity of movies, actors, etc.  Indie movies DO tend to break out of molds.

Sounds like the green eyed monsters has a hold on you!

I am however glad that Crash won best picture.

I'm glad Crash won over the rump ranger cowboy movie.  I'm not jealous it's just that these awards are a statement of how messed up america's values are...entertainers & sports people are paid millions while teachers and other more important people are paid so little.  I was complaining about how these entertainers act like they matter, like they are important people and we should all worship them.  Both of my sisters are teachers so this is a sore spot for me.

Perhaps you don't care, and it really doesn't matter much to me either, however this is what they do so it's important to them and that's what matters.

Also, many of them fund charites and foundations that DO help children and help to save people's lives.  Some of them came from poor families and probably receive help from programs that celebrities who are long gone helped to fund.

I don't see how anyone can be disgusted with some else's success.  You may not be a celebrity, but how would you feel if someone thought the same thing about what success you do have?

I see your point...something to think about.  People like Angelina Jolie who use their status to help others I DO appreciate.  Thank you for pointing that out!

entertainers & sports people are paid millions while teachers and other more important people are paid so little.

Well I look at this way.  No matter what we do we all are contributing.  Teacher make more than waitresses, doctors make more than teachers and the entertainment industry is a free interprise career in which you can make as much or as little as your talent or popularity allows.

 I was complaining about how these entertainers act like they matter, like they are important people and we should all worship them.

Americans are into worshipping the famous.
