Hey queen i have to buy that book thanks for the info ,bless you dearly!
His death is tragic! , thank you for that quote on prince i have to use it, i knew prince was deep, but not that deep> hotep.
Don't forget Pigmeat Markham:

"But Judge, Your Honor, don't you remember me?"
"No, who are you, boy?"
"Why, I'm the fella that introduced you to your wife!"
"To my wife?"
"Yeah!"
"LIFE!!!...You SON of a gun, you!"

g.

"JOJO DANCER, YOUR LIFE IS CALLING", AND "WHICH WAY IS UP" WERE MY FAVORITES!!  However, his greatest statement was when he renounced the word "n****".  A word that should not even be in Webster's Dictionary.

Damn people; all the people we loved and grew up watching and listening to (Pryor, Vandross, Rick James, etc.)  are dying, which reinforces to me that LIFE IS SHORT.  LIVE HARD.  Damn, it's depressing thinking about what "talent" is left in the comedy world.  Some of these folks think saying "N**** this, b**** that; p**** this, d*** that" makes them funny (they shall remain nameless).  However, they couldn't hold a candle to the likes of Foxx, Pryor, and Mabley.

I don't know what more to say, other than "REST IN PEACE P-TOWN'S FINEST!!".

I did a search on  PIgmeat Markham because I do not remember him.  Do you know if any of his work are out on DVD?
Dunno about DVDs, but you can find CDs of both Pigmeat Markham and Moms Mabley at either amazon.com or laugh.com/

g.

Didn't know he died until I saw this thread.  That's a shame.  He was probably the funniest man who ever lived.

Thanks for the listing, bv.  I'm smilling just thinking about some of them.

Its nice that even when your pass on people can smile just thinking about you.

I'll miss you Richard.  But I have some of those old movies to remember you by.  And those stand ups.  That Richard could joke about catching his self on fire (smile)

Rest in peace.

Girl, i heard it from you first. He'll be greatly missed. I've called all my peoples over and we're going to listen to his records and watch some of his movies. Tiny
Robin Harris (Bebe's kids), Red Foxx, Rodney Dangerfield, and Sam Kennison.  I vagely remember Moms Mabley.  What a party that would be.

If you want a real treat, go find Moms Mabley, she was an elderly Black comedian in the 1960's, and she was funny as hell.   Amongst comedians she's considered an icon up there with Richard Pryor and Lenny Bruce.

Both sides of an issue do not have to be considered if one side is completely stupid.

The truth is but one point, it is the ignorant that multiplies it.

If you stick a knife in my back ten inches and pull it out five, that’s not progress.  Progress is when you pull the knife out and allow the wound to heal.  They won’t even admit the knife is there.”

It's like when you have coffee and it's too Black, it's too strong.  So you have to add milk to it. You add enough milk you completely weaken it.  If you add too much milk you won't even know you had coffee anymore.

Rest In Peace Richard, you will never be forgotten.

Just heard about it. Dang we got to deal with people that we grew up loving die. Makes you take notice

A true King of comedy has left the building...he will be missed by many, our generation were privy to a comedic genius the likes of which will never be seen again, laugh Richard as you ride to the shores of the Dogon Gods.

Richard filled all of us with so many emotions. When I was pregnant with my son, I was fascinated with Richard Pryor, watching everything from his children's special, to "Bustin Loose", and behold, I was up late one night watching "Live on Sunset Strip", and I was laughing so hard, I went right into labor. I love him.

Girl, i heard it from you first. He'll be greatly missed. I've called all my peoples over and we're going to listen to his records and watch some of his movies. Tiny

girl couldnt say it better.

to the family of richard pryor i send my heart felt wishes i have always wanted to see him live.  but on screen he was as big as day.  my favorite person he played was the father in which way is up
Richard Pryor was a special talent.  He was a fantastic comic and a surprisingly good actor.  But most of all he kept it real.  If you listen to a Richard Pryor comedy album you wil laugh but when you finish you will hey, that was deep.
