am i the only one NOT ready for Christmas??  have you been noticing right after halloween, the next aisle over in the stores were christmas trees and decorations???

can we just celebrate Christmas by eliminating gifts and just go to church and MAYBE put some pigs/cows on the grill and call it a day??....

am i being a scrooge???....can we skip the capitalism, save some money and go right into january???....

i got family birthdays that start in the  beginning of november to 2nd week of december..then there's christmas..and then college tuition for 2 BOYS is due....

am i alone on this???.

just wanna send christmas cards that read, 'merry christmas, i'm broke'.......

You can't give something that you don't have.  If you don't have it to give I know the people that know and love you will understand that you don't have it this year.  I think this year Christmas is going to look crazy for everyone.  Send your Christmas cards and let them know you're thinking of them, but you don't have anything to give and if they can't get that then they don't deserve to be in your life!  I'm finished shopping for my daughter and I believe she's going to be the only one besides my husband that I buy something for Christmas for!  Happy Holidays!!!

pssstttt....i opted out of the commercialism that is Christmas many years ago and havent looked back.  the only ones who i give a Christmas to are my 3 children.  hubby and i dont even go all out for each other like that.   my family (mother, aunts, cousins, etc) use to trip out on me because I absolutely refuse to let that holiday stress me out.  I just cant do it.  I dont feel bad about it and I wont explain myself to everyone.  after Christmas is over, folks be looking all crazy in the face dealing with high credit card bills and i just look at em.  I teach my children what Christmas is about, they do get gifts, but hubby and i dont go overboard.  slowly but surely, my extended family is catching on.

exactly....back in the day, you could take $100 and buy a plethra of christmas toys in toys-r-us...

now, kids expect high cost video games...nintendo and playstation are having a 'party' every christmas...now it's the 'playstation 3' (ps3)---of course the graphics are better this yr..foot-in-mouth

i bought that guitar hero and the wii last yr and i'm through...those companies are making a lotta money on stuff that really don't cost that much to make...

I think it's easier to blow off Christmas when you don't have young kids...lol  The only folks that we buy for besides the kids are our parents...and they pretty much have everything, and what they don't have, they can get for themselves.  So the only ones hubby and I are buying for this Christmas (besides one another) are the two munchkins.  And with all of the stuff that's on their collective lists, that's MORE than enough.

Every year I say that I'm going to cut back on how much I buy the kids, but then I think back to the Christmas mornings we (sis and I) had as kids.  The entire living room would be filled with stuff and it was THE most magical day of the year for us...I don't ever want to cheat my own kids out of the same experience.

Thats so true SK, thats why all we concentrate on are our children :)~   For the grown folks, I spread love and good cheer and call it a day.  We celebrate by eating(the one time a year I eat the chilins).  LOL   But I refuse to go broke for Christmas.

You have to do what you can and you can't do anymore.  I know my limit and I'm not going over it for anyone and I mean that!!!

Now see...I was with you up until you mentioned chitlins....

I don't see how anyone can eat that sh/t....*pun intended*

*insert Yahoo green face here*

aight now, back up off the chitlins.  Ain't nothing wrong with a lil chitlins or some BBQ pig feet every now and then.

Bout to make me go off in here (wfn on ready, set.................)

Damn....chitlins AND pig feet.....

I know some of y'all have a die-hard affinity for pork, but why oh why do you have to eat the nastiest part of the pig?

LOL

let me explain something to you:

ritrzy high class folk eating snails and fish eggs

folk won't eat chitlins but will eat sausage and bologna like it ain't nothin

people don't eat pork but will eat crawfish, catfish, and any other sea creature that live off of eating all the stuff in the sea no other sea creature wants or excretes

Cows throw up and re-eat they own food

shoot, technically eggs ain't nothin but chicken sh/t

but I say chitlins and everybody say I'm nasty...

WHAT THE HECK EVA

Sweetie....I really don't care what you eat.  You can eat the balls off of the pig if you want to and it wouldn't make me a bit of difference.  Calm down...it's not that serious.  I'm just commenting that's all : )

BTW...I don't eat escargot or caviar either....the thought of eating that is equally as repulsive as eating chitlins.

ok ok my bad.  I did go off a lil.  I know you wasn't being mean or anything but I do get offensive when folk talk about food knowing if they trace back, they prolly eating something just as nasty as I am.  Not trying to start anything between us.  Sorry, I just love to eatecstatic

You can eat the balls off of the pig

You know, the ones off a bull ain't that bad.  you ain't neva had rocky mountain oysters?

It's cool...

It's all a matter of taste anyway.  Truth be told, I've never had chitlins or pig feet.  I just know that neither are anything I'd want to into my mouth...lol

Nope...never had oysters.  I have to be careful about what seafood I eat.  I get a serious allergic reaction to all seafood except lobster, shrimp and crab meat.  Plus, I have this thing about texture....and as slimy as oysters are, I just know that even if I tried them, I'd be throwing them up all over the place.

Well...see, that goes to show you how much of that kind of food I know about/eat.  I had no idea...lol

And hell to the no, I'd never put no mess like that in my mouth.

Greetings:

Christmas has always been a very special day for me....As a child, when I believed in Santa Claus, I used to love to wake up on Xmas morning and see presents under the tree. Every year I got exactly what I wanted and I quickly became a spoiled kid.

But when I got old enough to realize that Santa was my Mother...and that she was buying the presents for my brother and myself; with no help from my Father...I began to downsize my expectations for Xmas presents. I just didnt want my Mother to feel less of a Mother if one year she was not able to get me that toy or present that I didnt really need.

So, I would beg and plead with my Mother to not get me anything for Xmas....but no matter how much I pleaded with her and no matter to what extents I went to hide my interests, she always had the PERFECT present for me under the tree. As I got older, Xmas became more about spending time with family and having the best meals ever...But no matter what...my Mother always had a gift for me.

I think Xmas is for the kids...I dont have any kids, so Xmas for me is all about my family...I enjoy giving gifts...mostly because I buy gifts all year long and just keep them for people till Xmas...

I cant explain it...but I just love that feeling I have when I drive back home and walk in the door as if I didnt bring anything with me and when no one is looking...sneak back out to the car and bring in bags of gifts...lol....Just the look on their faces makes me feel good....I do things for my family all year long....but on Xmas...it just feels like the look I get is different...

At this stage of my life, I no longer have control over whether or not I will be a father to my own seed and its likely I may end up being a father to children not of my seed, but I look forward to the day when I can spend Xmas morning with a family of my own....I hope that is in the plans for me...if not...I can accept it and move forward...

I use to love being in the Xmas eve shopping mayhem....but that was until I was seasonal help for a retail store....DAMN I hate those people that waited to the last minute to come buy presents....knowing that the sh.it they are buying is not the right size and they are going to have to bring it back the day after Xmas...which I will have to spend half the day doing RETURNS...lol

i have to say i've been much of a scrooge lately...my boyfriend just went to korea for a yr tour (still keeping in touch), money is short, christmas and kids tuition due soon..so i'd rather skip the commercialism and just get with family/friends and give thanks to God....now in saying that, just today after leaving the gym, a christmas song came on...matter of fact, i haven't been in the mood for christmas songs either...but there is always a certain voice/song that gets the spirit of christmas up...it was nat king cole, the christmas song..and yeah it got to me...he is the only one that could melt the heart with his voice no matter what he is singing...although my favorite christmas song is 'o holy nite'...

keeping wishing for your christmas present in your heart and pray..you will get it...
