Anti-rape device created by South-African inventor Sonnet Ehlers is about to hit the market after a long time of waiting for patent verification.

The female condom-like device called Rapex has fish-like teeth that attach to the penis.

This invention stirred a great deal of controversy all over the world. The main concern is whether the Rapex was a medieval device built on a hate of men or it can be considered an easy-to use devise that could help South African women protect themselves against rape.

According to Sonnet Ehlers the process of cheking is going to be up on April 10.

Sonnet Eshlers publicly announced her invention one and half years ago and shot to international fame as the invention stirred debates about advantages and disadvantages of Rapex.

The inventor took part in British and Australian radio shows and was interviewed by South American journalists.

Eshler said that she was not a male hater, she simply wanted to help African women to protect themselves against rape. Though the device might seem a good weapon to fight rape, Eshler has many opponents.

Even such organization as Rape Crisis Cape Town does not consider Rapex to be a solution to the social problem of rape and considers such a devise to be likely to increase female vulnerability to violence.

Eshler insists on the fact that the main advantage of her invention is that it could give a woman attacked by a rapist some vital seconds to escape the criminal while he is busy dealing with pain caused by the device. This would be great pain as 25 teeth of the device that is inserted in the vagina attach themselves to the head and the shaft of the penis. What is more, she says the device will help with proving the crime as the rapist will have to go to a doctor to have the fish-like teeth removed.

The product is going to be be mass-produced in China next month.

I'm ALL for some mofo getting his dyck chewed up while trying to rape someone. But my biggest concern about this is that we'll be swapping rape victims for murder victims.

That's a very real possibility. Another is the person who is pissed for some reason at a man and uses this against him as a form of punishment. Hmmmmmm... this could be messy.

I truly don't see why some fool would byitch about what pain a rapist feels while trying to violate someone! Thats madness why does he get sympathy in a country where the rape victims are commonly as young as 2 years old?

Sympathy for a rapist who is guilty as sin is disgusting to say the least.

Not to mention that being raped is often compared to sandpaper being inserted because rape victims actually lose cells from their vagina during rape and develop scar tissue on their walls.

Does that mean because some people are wrongfuly tasered, maced, stun gunned, stabbed, shot, that all those weapons first intended for self defense should be tossed out as well?

I doubt women are going to forget they have them in lol its not a tampon it has teeth for goodness sakes and to be honest I doubt there is any comfort in walking around with one on.

I'd rather get a gun or have an HIV laden syringe n poke HIS raping his with it and follow up with a taser to the bawls.

Like I said before... if this is ONLY used against someone who is trying to rape someone... then fine. I'm all for it. Guns, knives, tazers, mace etc can be used against both genders, this will more than likely only be used against one. Only one gender will be 'wrongly' affected by it. Just as there whould NEVER be one woman raped... there should NEVER be one man with 25 sharp teeth in his di*k because someone is angry at him.

I agree. Men are the most likely victims of violent crimes in this country except for sexual crimes so in that affect, yeah guns should be tossed out too.

The point I'm making here is the device is NOT intended to be used on an innocent man but you are tlaking about that in a country where police officers do a LOT of the raping. Come on Uncontainable, you KNOW they are going to say 8 times out of 10 she was being a vengeful bytch because they think women deserve to be raped there.

OK... forgive my ignorance. This is a serious question though. Is there a country where men think that women 'deserve' to be raped? If so then that is completely fukked up.

Also it's not unheard of for a device to be used in a way in which it wasn't intended. I just hope that there is legislation in place to punish those who make that decision as there is legislation in place for men who commit the heinous act of rape.

She somehow puts this on BEFORE going out to a party...gets drunk...and FORGETS to take that mofo out? The dude that hits that on a one-night stand won't be getting 'lucky' so much as 'unlucky'.

I'm not against the concept...just the various ways such a device could be misused.

Plus...

I disagree with this being any help as proof of rape. It only proves that he tried to penetrate. Considering the various PROVEN instances of a female filing a false rape charge against a man I can't see this as making a difference since it doesn't prove that the action taken wasn't consensual at the time.

All in all considering this is S. Africa I can definately see why the device was created and thus I sympathize with the victims but I'd hope there could be found a better way to protect the victims w/o creating a new set of them.

This is a new spin on an old trick. Been around for a long time. During Vietnam - the women would put razor blades in their vagina. Some used sharpened bamboo. It allowed the rapist to insert his member with ease - but the outward motion was an entirely different story!!!

Some female slaves also used these techniques with black wood. Unfortunately in the process of trying to save themselves - many bled out. But most figured they were going to be killed anyway - so a death on their choice was better than a death by someone elses choice.

Glad to see this one is a lot safer.

However, you know somewhere in the world there is going to be some nimnut who decides to use this device for revenge versus the act of protection. Baby daddy miss one child support payment, or she see him with his new girlfriend...oh the trickery!

I mean, if the device is truly only gonna be used for victims to protect themselves, then I am all for it.

But as we all know, that is not going to be the case.

There are gonna be plenty of angry women or crazy azz women using this device to display their hatred towards men....and many men that didn't deserve to get their dikks chewed on will get it chewed on from that device.

Hell, the device might even hurt the women. I can see lots of cases coming from this device...if it ever actually hits the states.

Yeah South Africa. Its really sad the things that could go on there. This isn't the only country. In another country some virginal women are "ordered" to be gang-raped for things other family members did or raped because they showed their ankles and "enticed" a man even though she was wearing what would look like a sheet all over.

If this was here yeah lol I wouldn't be too keen on it because far too many ho*s scream rape when the man says I dont love you as if she didn't orgasm and open her legs willingly. But there? No. A lot are brave and some are just plain bold and actually go to the police (risking being raped by the very officers they report the crime to) and take it all the way to court. Most just go to the hospital and pray the rapist didn't have an std.

There are wonderful beautiful prts of that country but the bad parts are horrid and rape is commonplace.
