1. Creating a BV account takes under two minutes. When you create a BV account not only will you be able to post in any of our message boards (we have almost 100!) but your profile is automatically created. However, while your profile does exist on BV, members will not be able to find you when they perform a search unless you go back and edit your profile to share more about yourself.

2. To create an account, visit the Black Voices Boards Main page at http://blackvoices.com/boards and select "Create a Free Profile". From there you can enter your desired screen name to start the registration process. Be creative. There are nearly two million BV member accounts. Once you create an account (and profile) a confirmation email will be sent to you. You must verify your new account before it is activated.

07. How do I Block Email Responses to My Posts?

If you do not wish to receive email notifications of Black Wall messages posted to you:

1. Log in to your AOL Black Voices account.

2. Select the 'Edit My Profile' link under your name in the box to the left.

3. Click on 'My Forum Setting' at the top of your profile.

4. Check the "No" box next to "Would you like to be notified of message board posts addressed to you?"

5. Click the 'Update' button to the right of the check box.

This will stop all email notifications for all responses to any post you've made.

08. Why do some of the Posts have Asterisks (*****) Appear in Them?

That's our language filter trying to catch prohibited words. Unfortunately, the filter sometimes makes mistakes and censors words that are perfectly acceptable.

09. I Am Offended By A Message Posted On The Boards. Can You Please Have It Removed?

With any free online community, certain language or comments will be written which may offend some readers. If you feel a post violates our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines we ask that you report it so that a member of moderation team can review it for removal. You can report a post by selecting 'Report' located under the message in question.

10. How can I put someone on 'Ignore' so that I don?t have to read their posts?

We invite all members to control their experience. Any member can be ignored. By ignoring a member you block all private messages and posts written by this person. You must be logged in to take advantage of this feature. Click on the 'Ignore' link at the bottom of the author's post or click on the author's name to open their profile. Click on the 'Ignore Posts' link. Once this action is taken, you will not see the member's posts in the boards nor receive private messages from them until you unblock them. It takes up to five minutes to begin seeing the results of the Ignore feature.

11. Why Did My Post Get Deleted?

Posts are deleted at the discretion of our moderation team and may be deleted for various reasons. Your post either violated the Terms of Service or Community Guidelines and was therefore removed by our moderation team. Another reason your post may have been deleted is because it appeared in a discussion or thread which violated the Terms of Service or Community Guidelines and the entire discussion had to be removed, including your post.

12. How Can I Delete a Message that I Posted on the BV Boards?

Log in and click the "delete" button at the bottom of your post. You can also edit your post by clicking the "edit" button.

13. I Am Having Trouble Signing In To The New Message Boards

We've identified that some members who existed prior to the AOL/BlackVoices merger may experience some problems signing in. While we are working on this technical issue we ask that you email us at BlackVoicesCS@aim.com and provide your user name, the link you used to access the message board and when this last occurred. By providing this information you are helping us resolve the issue
