I never warmed up to DEEP SPACE NINE I saw a few episodes but just never watched it that much. VOYAGER was okay for a while then I just lost interest. I didn't watch the final two seasons but did tune in for the series finale in 2000.
Lets not forget QUANTUM LEAP And of course the New BATTLESTAR GALECTICA |

I HATED WHEN THEY WOULD TURN A FINE SCI-FI SERIES INTO A MONSTER OF THE WEEK DISASTER. |

My beloved SLIDERS went thru that phase in the third season. They were ripping off as many sci fi and monster movies they could come up with. Jurrassic Park, Anaconda, Species. It was a low point of the series. Finally jumped the shark in Season 4. The show did redeem itself in the fifth (and final) season and the fifth season was the best since season 2. It did go out on top as a top rated series on SCI FI channel in 2000.
As for DS9 I loved the concept of the Dominion but like you say, they needed better wrtiers. VOYAGER was chugging along fine as a "one trick Pony" but when they introduced that character Seven of Nine (and let Jeri Ryan strut around in that skin suit) and she became a focal point of the show I lost interest. like they felt they had to appeal to teenage boys rather than just write good stories. BABYLON 5 was a very good show. And it never jumped the shark. Probably because the creator had a definite 5 year arc and stuck with it. I highly recommend this superb series. |

Quantum Leap (not sure if Sci-Fi but as a kid, I loved) X-Files (Never missed an episode) Stargate: SG-1 and Atlantis; don's care much for Enterprise Outer Limits Sliders Star-trek (original) Dr. Who is funny but I don't watch much. Poltergeist: The Legacy It's this funny show that use to come on late night LPB: BBC with white and black british duo in space adventures. So funny, wish I knew the name of it.

.....see,the problem with most (if not all) sci-fi shows is that yeah,it's one creative mind...but a crap load of different writers...and it always winds up hurting or making a show (or movie) stupid... for instance...i remember in a "next generations" movie (can't recall the title in the midst of my brain rant..but it's the last one with the cast) that worf was saying something about "the romulans having honor"---i'm like "HUH ?!? HE'D NEVER SAY THAT !!" i say all this to say that for every great sci-fi show that i liked.there was always a seson or 2 that totally ruined it for me (sliders comes to mind)...but i'll throw out my list.... DS:9 (sisqo was'nt my favorite capt.but he was the best...he did something all the other captains never did..was involved in,and won,a war..before i hear the noise.kirk was in beef's and border disputes...picard and the borg were never in constant battle....) QUANTUM LEAP.....TWILIGHT ZONE (simply the best)...OUTER LIMITS...STAR TREK...ST:NEXT GENERATION.....JOURNEYMAN (why oh why did they take this show off ??!!?....SLIDERS...EUREKA (hell of a concept and truly original for a sci-fi show.and that's saying a lot) |
