Is Mariah Carey still any good?(72)

Mariah Carey has banged out some incredible ballads throughout her career, but moreso than the songs, I think it's the length of her career that's important. People say she's crazy, well then they must mean crazy like a fox. Who else sings a multialbum deal for millions, releases just one album, and then still walks away with millions? lol

Mariah Carey is losing it. She is not doing as good as she used to and her songs aren't hitting number one like they used to. Her voice is wonderful but her songs seem so... I don't know. I got her charm bracelet CD and most of the songs sucked, the best song close to what I'm used to from her is that gypsy song.

Mariah is not losing it, well in my opinion she isnt, the song has out now, Its like that is HOT.This generation of music buyers are going for the sexual music instead of the good music. My thing is longevity, I dont see none of the singers of today performing there song in about 20-30 years in the long run. |

yo Mariah Carey is off da hook right now. long as she still got them high notes its fine wit me. u cant say dat she is losing it. She is a R&B diva wit talent and people like Jermaine Dupri, Nas, Joe, Ludacris, Cam'ron, ODB, Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss, and Snoop Dogg to have her back on some good hits yo. All her songs are powerful and inspiring. if u dont like her cds u dont got no taste at all yo.

nyblack06 I agree with you. Mariah is hot. Especially the cut with Mystical. That is so funky. Mariah if you check these messages I own and operate a Christian Base Club here in Tampa Florida called "Club Deja" I'd love to Jam this cut. Lets get you and Mystical back in the studio an do a Christian Lyric remix. We feature Gospel, as well as clean R&B, Hip Hop/Rap, and Pop music. You asked if Mariah Carey was still any good and I gave you my thoughts. Now you want to go so far as to say I have no taste in music because I don't like what you like?
First off, I never said I didn't like her CD's, I love her previous ones. I just said I didn't much like charm bracelet. Who are you to define some one's music tastes especially if you don't know what I listen to. Secondly, if you already thought Mariah Carey is still good why would you ask? You must have wanted peoples opinions. So don't ask a question and then judge people because of their answer.
As for her songs with Ludacris, Jermaine Dupri, Jada kiss, and so on, that's the part of Mariah that I don't like. I did like the song she did with Busta though. I'm used to her songs like butterfly, my all, visions of love, ect. I like her doing songs with boys to men and other R&B artists.

Well, I somewhat agree. I think Mariah Carey has a great voice too, I think she needs to put a little more spice in her music. Everything seems to be the same. I think she has the ability to do alot of things with her voice, looking for more jazzier beats might be just what she needs.

Hi everyone, I like mariah carey and her music. One of my favorite song is the one ,she made with busta rhymes. So what, If she got a little crazy, we all get a little crazy sometimes. She is still the best in r&b to me and she even got better. Mariah, girl hold your head up keep doing what you are doing.

Hey I am with you... I think Mariah Carey is a great singer but her stuff she is putting out now is just not the same.. I mean yeah you are supposed to change and grow but I was listening to her new CD and it is not a CD I could just play straight through. MAYBE JUST LIKE 2 SONGS ON IT. I wouldn't go out and buy it. Maybe download it. Thats about it.... The only CD of hers i play is her Greatest hits CD the 2-disc set i love the songs like emotions,love takes time, anytime you need a friend.. i wish she would do some more songs like that instead of all this "pop" like music...

The Incomparable Mariah Carey I just finished listening to Mariah Carey's, 'The Emancipation of Mimi' (well I have been playing it non-stop for about 2 1/2 hours), and well I must say this is definatly Mariah's best work yet. Her vocals are very outstanding and it makes me feel very nostalgic as to when she first came out with 'Vision of Love' back in 1990 (I still get thoughs goosebumps!) Even though the style of her music has changed (and fashion), that voice of her's hasen't with all it's intensity and emotion. In my opinion, I don't think one can question is she still hot. She has always and always will be hot. There is no artist today that I have listened to (not even Alisha Keys nor Chistina Aguilera although great vocalist) that can stand up to Mariah. And I shouldn't point out that Mariah has always wrote her own songs (don't beleive me? Look in everyone of her album credits) So why have her sells declined? Well you must remember that we all live in a digital age where illegal music downloading is prevalent and this in contrast to when she first started out,was not and issue. What about 'Glitter'? I know I might get some crap about this but Glitter was a soundtrack to the songs that was in the Movie and not meant to be a "Mariah Carey" album. And, let's not mention the fact that is was released on one of the worst days of our histroy, September 11, 2001. Mariah was used as a punching bag for Americans to revert their attention to what was really going on . But gettig back to the issue at hand, Mariah has one of the best voices that we will ever experience in our time..so I'm going to embrase it. Let's not promote non singing wannabe talent and support thoughs artists who really have something that our money is worth. I also encourge everyone to go out and support Mariah Carey 'The Emancipation of Mimi' because the whole album is HOT TAMALIE! |

Yes, I think Mariah is still a wonderful singer, although in My OPINION she should take it back to the earlier years a little so she can gain the attention and respect of those who used to love her and has for Alicia Keys.......they are not even in the same league right now because Alicia is incredible and she is hot now and I'm sure she will be hot for awhile and I don't think her fashion or her style will change too much because she seems to be more grounded.. but who really knows... All I can say people is none of these females today got anything on the girl Teena Marie! God Bless, Peace

I agree with you I love The Emancipation Of Mimi as well as her other works and I may be ong of few people but I actually enjoyed glitter also. Too the others who want her old music back So what her music has changed like she said she changed she's giving you who she is at this point in her life you cant expect things to remain the same. I would rather hear Mariah then most of the new singers out today with the Exception Of Alicia Keys, but Ashanti Ciara and so forth cant even be compared to Mariah. The Quality of Music today has changed I wish we could go back 2 the 80's and early 90's cause some of the new music today makes me want 2 just listen to my old cds and leave the radio alone

Hey, Glitter was a good cd. It was just a victim of bad timing...a not-so-good-movie attached to it, and Sept. 11. Don't knock yourself for liking it. The last cd I purchased of Mariah's was Charmbraclet, and I liked it. But, artist should be allowed to change and mature, and, if you noticed, she has been geared more toward the R&B/hip hop audience for the past few cd's. Remember, she was bound to cater to the wants of a big corporate machine (SONY), and had to play it by their rules. As u can see, the more "urban" her music sounded, the farther her sales slipped, yet she still follows that same path. That shows that she is staying true to herself now, regardless of how much her sales are affected. If you don't like her current sound, well, you still have the memories of her previously recorded work under Sony. I, 4 one, applaud her for being herself.

Mariah Carey HAS lost it !!!! Weak thin-voiced pitiful singers like Janet Jackson & Brandy should be trying to sound like Mariah. But it is apparent Mariah for some strange unknown reason WANTED to sound like them !!!!! What's up with all of these grown ass women singing like Little Bitty girls ?????????? I don't understand it...Mariah has a beautiful voice but her last couple of CD's were absolutely horrible and she mumbled, whispered, baby-talked her way through them all. Every now and then you'd hear a 'Super high note" but always as the song is "fading out". Mariah needs to get her act together OR get outta the game...It's enough people/record executives keep giving Janet Jackson "another chance to sing/baby-talk" When her ass is worse than an America Idol contestant on their best day.....Why oh Why is Mariah "whining" through every song !!!! I'm not wasting one thin dime on "MIMI" so...ashleygj if you do, Give me a review. Reply is always welcome.
