In this episode, they're going to address Peggy and Duck's affair (or at least, they better). The biggest surprise about this season was that Don was found out by Betty. Didn't think that was going to happen for another two seasons, but then again, this is what I like about this show - watching the unexpected. As for what my favorite episode so far, it's a toss-up between Lawnmower episode and last week's episode.
This has yet to get old to me:

That's part of the appeal of Peggy - that underneath the dowdy clothing, she's just as promiscuous as her male colleagues. She's not as obvious as Joan, but she's far more out there in her behavior. The jury's still out about whether Duck will be beneficial or detrimental to Peggy, but I'd at least like them to address it before the season ends.

Well, I never thought I'd say this, but I was on Pete's side tonight. I know he's been a spoiled brat in the past, but I thought he was right for being appalled that the wedding was still going on. Coupled with his disapointment with the firm, I thought, good for him. So expected that Roger's daughter would make the Kennedy assasination all about her. I had to laught at that one. So, I guess next season will be all about the Draper divorce, or do you think Bett's guy was yanking her chain? Don and the teacher will be on again? I'm thinking Peggy and Pete and maybe Don will be joining Duck (who I still haven't forgiven him for what he did to Chauncey) very soon. Any predictions?

Well, I never thought I'd say this, but I was on Pete's side tonight. I know he's been a spoiled brat in the past, but I thought he was right for being appalled that the wedding was still going on. Coupled with his disapointment with the firm, I thought, good for him. Since I still can't stand Pete, I can't say that I'm upset (or surprised) that Ken got the job over him. He's a classic example of someone whose lack of people skills prevent him from getting a job that he'd be great at. I'm also not surprised that Roger went on with the wedding, either - he's not exactly known to be one with any kind of sensitivity or tact. So expected that Roger's daughter would make the Kennedy assasination all about her. I had to laught at that one. I really wanted to feel sorry for her (since her dad left her mother for a girl that was a few years older, if not the same age), but she was just being a brat. God, did young women really act like that back then? So, I guess next season will be all about the Draper divorce, or do you think Bett's guy was yanking her chain? Don and the teacher will be on again? I'm not going to assume that the Drapers will be divorcing - if only because of the very real possibility that Betty may end up with no kids/no house/downgrade in status and that's not something that she's willing to risk - no matter how smooth that silver fox is. And yes, I think he was yanking her chain because he's loving the challenge of getting under Betty's skin. Not sure about McTeacher, though. I'm thinking Peggy and Pete and maybe Don will be joining Duck (who I still haven't forgiven him for what he did to Chauncey) very soon. Any predictions? Out of all of the folks here, I'm more inclined to believe that Pete would be the one to jump ship. His pissitivity is fresher and he seems like the type to act on it because he feels entitled to do so. They better bring my Sal back in the season finale or I will be pissed. |

Hey, Granny ((hugs)) Didn't even know you watched this show, but I'll try to dish without spilling too much (since I want you to enjoy the show as it's happening). It's a long story, but 'Don Draper' was actually born Dick Whitman. He was basically poor white trash who went to serve in the Korean War. Dick served under a guy who was actually named Don Draper, so when the actual Don was killed in combat and Dick was injured, Dick took that as an opportunity to change his life by stealing the actual Don's identity (by slipping on his Army tag). The Army believed that Dick was Don Draper and that the actual Don Draper was the dead Dick Whitman. The actual Don Draper's widow tracks down 'Don' and she agrees to let him live his life under her husband's identity and he supports her financially in gratitude. Meanwhile, 'Don' starts living the fabulous life by getting a great job in advertising at Sterling Cooper and getting a trophy wife (Betty). Basically, he was living a lie for years until Betty (who'd been trying to get into that locked drawer for years) finally found the key to open it and discovered the money, pictures, certificate, etc. She confronted him and he basically told her about it (for the most part). That money is basically his stash, should things go wrong and he needed some cash quickly. |

I don't know about that, if only because there's clearly a shift of power in that relationship. Betty used to starve for Don's attention, but now that she's found out who he is, she realizes that she holds the cards and can actually exercise ambivalence towards him (hence, the reason why she's feeling less and less guilty for running around with the Silver Fox) by telling him that she doesn't love him anymore.

Sal was working on a project and the client (who was a guy) tried to push up on him. Sal, who always figured that no one could find him out, was pissed that that guy figured him out and that he expected sex on the spot. He rejected him and figured all was well, until Harry Crane fvcked things up on the job (by being incompetent) and blamed it on Sal. No one knew about Sal being harrassed, but when he told Don (who knows about Sal being gay) about being sexually harrassed when Don expected him to save Sterling Cooper's asses, he figured that Don would be understanding since he seemed to be back then. Don basically told him that he should've put out (something that, IMO, he wouldn't have done with a straight man) and since he didn't, he was fired. As for poor Kitty, she figured it out episodes ago...LOL. He was reenacting a scene from a commercial that he was working on and let's just say he let the cat out the bag...LOL. She knows the deal, but well, you know how things were back then. She doesn't know (though I'm sure she's suspicious) about Sal trolling for men in Central Park, though... Sterling Cooper isn't going out of business - it's being bought out. |
