I'm sure many of you already know that the demand for Inaugural Tix is unprecedented.  I called my Rep, and Hillarys office on Wednesday and there was already a waiting list.  If you are not on their list by now, you can probably hang it up...lol
I'm on lists for both my Senator and State Representative and I've called everyone that I know across the country to request tickets as well in hopes that somebody will actually get them. I have my hotel and plane ticket all ready to go so I will be there come hell or high water!
Yeah, we have our hotel and all...but if we can't get tickets, there's no need in going.  I really wanna go to the Empire State Inaugural Ball...We shall see..
I thought there were some areas where you didn't have to have a ticket? My understanding was the tickets from the State Representatives and Senators just put you a bit closer to the main stage and those without a ticket would be further down the mall.
Oh yeah, if you want to be far down the mall...though I am sure they will throw up big screens for him, so down the mall may not be that bad...
I emailed Sens. Schumer and Clinton along with my Congressman Eliot Engel last week.  I am going to email Sen. Clinton again.  I am still going to DC regardless.  I wonder if I can get tickets from someone in an conservative area that may not have many requests.  I have never been to DC!
Good luck emailing...lol I had to call the offices as I haven't gotten a single return email from any of them.  I read a article saying that there are so many email requests that those emails are being ignored now...
I mailed a letter to to my rep last week (kinda late, I know - lol).  I am meeting friends from two different states in DC and they are requesting tickets as well.  I'm hoping at least one of us will receive some tickets.

You may want to call their offices and find out the procedure for requesting tickets instead of sending a blind email. At one office I called, they took down everything over the phone except for my SS# and bloodtype (LOL) and wanted the names and addresses of everyone I wanted tickets for. The other office give me the email address of a specific person and she responded within a day letting me know where I was on the list (#103). I read somewhere that only 240k tickets were going to be distributed so it's going to be a battle to get them.
Since you seem to know a lot about this topic - if one can't get tickets, in your opinion how early should one arrive at the mall?

I will be there.Just follow me,it is not what you know but who you know, and if money cannot buy it i do not want it.
Wow...thats a pretty tough question as I am sure folks will be camping out and celebrating on the mall the night before...lol  The last inaugural I went to was Bill Clintons in 93...we went for a school trip and we had decent spots getting there at like 9:30...
Thanks for your reply.  I am arriving the day before so I'm prepared to camp if necessary.  coolI'm praying I get tickets though.

For anyone who still needs accommodations - you may want to try renting a condo or townhome from a private owner.  Check out these links:

I contacted Elijah Cummings' office last week, so hopefully, I'll be able to get tickets.  If not, I'll still be there.  I'll just have to get there really early!
I just got a call back, today (Nov.10). I contacted my Senator, Barack Obama's office. I was given a fax number to send my # of tickets and contact information. I am keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!

I put my name on my Senators and congressmans waiting list. I won't hold my breath waiting on tickets though. I am taking a 1 day bus trip from Atlanta to DC and will be there regardless even if it's just to be there in the moment and watch on a jumbotron

I contacted both my local rep as well as state rep.  They faxed a form and I guess that I'm on the "list" too.  What really got me was that my hubby scored a room in Crystal City!!!  We're staying at that Marriott Gateway which is right above a mini mall and a Metro station.  A friend of his hooked us up and we aren't paying crazy rates.  YESSS!!!!!  We stayed there for July 4th celebrations so I'm really psyched.  However, if we don't get the tix, then we won't be going.  Then again, I don't mind standing with the rest of the crowds if I have to.

Thank You! Change Can Happen

I ain't gonna lie, the prestige of having one of only 240,000 seats, when more than 3 million people are expected to be there...but to be there, to witness history, even on a Jumbotron...just wow...lol
