I know I'm not the only one. There has been enough dissent on this board alone to warrant a boycott. I want this mockumentary to go brick! The only way that Black women are going to get through to Chris Rock and the coons of his ilk is to not give him our money or support! I don't know what the hell he was thinking. How do you make a movie where you are offending your target audience? Is he hoping that non-Black women are actually going to come out in droves for this? Knowing his simple ass, he probably has his fingers crossed as we speak, promoting this bullshit. SMDH.
Chris Rocks movies usually flop, he saw Tyler Perry making all that money off of BW so he just figured he would do the same
So does this mean you're skipping out on it, Harlem World? LOL.
i am.and most of the other bw i know said they won't pay to see it either.i'm gonna see it for free right here on my pc and then i'm gonna come to bv to tell everybody just how much i hated it.
LMAO. But why do you want to even watch it for free? You must be a glutton for punishment or something! Nah, but I hear you. Somebody has to report back to BV. Cuz I sure as hell don't know of any Black women that I associate going to see this mess! Your review will probably be my only association with this stuff. LOL.
Why are you offended?  I will be seeing it this weekend?
"If you don't love yourself, how you gonna love anybody else?"
Let's just put it this way. I already know that  this film will not be speaking TO ME. Have fun!
Seriously though.  I want to know why do you hate the movie so much...
"If you don't love yourself, how you gonna love anybody else?"
Hi. LOL! anywho someone brought up a good point in one of the many threads on this topic..really who is this movie being marketed to? black women who love relaxers/weaves surely aren't going to flock to this movie if they feel they are going to be "preached" too about their hair choices (i'm a grown ass woman rhetoric) natural black women "have heard it all before" (big ups SUNSHINE ANDERSON) and figure why waste their time and money just to watch "nappy" hair get clowned..men regardless of race probably see this as a "chick flick" and white women may go out of curiosity but really when do they worry themselves about the plight of black women and even if they do go they damn sure aren't going to connect white racism to why black women do the things they do to their hair..they will just look at as with pity and continue to feel superior...so in otherwords..no i don't think it's going to be a blockbuster! lol
I am not going to see it.......my daughter asked me if i would watch the film with her........um NO!  nothing cute about seeing insecurity and self hatred paraded on the screen..not my cup of tea....

i'm not planning on seeing it. but i dont' wish it to fail. i don't wish ill will on anyone. 'specially for something like this.

Oh, but I am very serious. Anything in the media, be it movies, reality shows, TV series, music videos that objectify Black women or turn us into something to be laughed at, ridiculed or pitied, gets no support from me. I felt this same way about that God awful Norbit. And boy was I glad when that fool Eddie Murphy released it during his Oscar campaign for Dreamgirls. He totally wrecked his Oscar bid and looks like his career has not recovered since.

But anyway, why are you so cavalier about it?

I starting to find myself avoiding damn near everything in entertainment marketed toward black women, all they do is sell us ho books, how to get a man books written by single people and Yaki.
Hey there. If you don't mind me asking... How old is your daughter and are you okay with her supporting this film even though you will not be?

ain't that the truth. none of it phases me.

Hey black, don't u want this movie to fail as bad as another particular movie by chris rock? *wink*

Cavalier about hair.  Because its an external thing.  It doesnt define me.

I avoided Norbit too based on what folks on BV were saying when i finally did see it I found some of it to be funny.  The woman in the movie was not me.  She wasnt my mama she wasnt anyone I knew.  It was a character in a comedy. <shrugs>

Well, wanting a project to fail isn't exactly wishing ill will on someone. If this movie is insulting and humiliating to Black women, then what do you have to say about Chris Rock's "Ill Will?" Wouldn't that mean he is wishing Ill will on Black women?
