OBAMA just Now JUMPING on MJ Bandwagon!(350)
|
When Michael Jackson first died, Obama didn't even issue an official public statement that could be put in history's archives. He hemmed and hawed to his assistant that Mike was a great entertainer with a "tragic sad life". Obama waited to see which way the wind would blow. Now Obama has seen the outpouring of love for MJ and suddenly now he claims Michael Jackson's number one fan, (yeah right) I voted for Obama but his actions in this are shady. He is treating us like he is treating the people protesting in Iran. He has to be shamed into supporting them. Does this bother anybody else? NY Post Article (barf alert)WASHINGTON -- The King of Pop had a fan in the White House. President Obama described himself as an aficionado of Michael Jackson, who died June 25 at age 50. "I grew up on his music -- still have all his stuff on my iPod," Obama said yesterday, adding that Jackson "will go down in history as one of our greatest entertainers." At the time of his death, the pop icon was preparing a series of comeback concerts in London to overcome years of sexual scandal and financial calamity. "I think that his brilliance as a performer also was paired with a tragic and, in many ways, sad personal life," Obama said. The president expressed pleasure that the public is celebrating Jackson for his talents instead of dwelling on his personal tragedies. "I'm glad to see that he is being remembered primarily for the great joy that he brought to a lot of people through his extraordinary gifts as an entertainer," Obama said.

I thought that I was the only one who felt this way. There is deffinately something not right with the way he comes across with his black supporters. It seems to me that Barack can't recognize blacks while he is in the white house. Michael is huge know matter what some may think about him. Hell Elvis might have been huge also, but Michael touched every race, and changed the way blacks were treated on television. Elvis, well he had a huge white audience, not so much a huge black one. Michael reached everyone, and the President didn't immediately come out with a statement. That sucks, and I am loosing respect for him quick, very quick. I hope that he realize that it's his own people that also helped push him into that White House seat. |

I agree. I really like Obama and voted for him but I am so disappointed in his not making an immediate statement on Michael Jackson's death. This and other things he's done lately when it comes to "us" is starting to make me wonder about him.

Of course I do. But just as there are other very important issues going on out there, there have been other "famous" deaths and past presidents were immediate in their making a statement and as always, there were other things going on the world then too.

Nobody said he should have stopped everything he was doing to talk about MJ's death. This is what president's usually do as part of their job is to acknowledge when a very famous person dies. They usually make a statement. I thought it was very odd that he wouldn't make a statement for a person who is considered to be the most beloved entertainer ever.

Bush SENT an official public statement about James Brown's death . I don't get the logic, if Obama can't have a press secretary make an official statement and send it to the press, he shouldn't be President. You mean to tell me the entire executive branch has to come to a halt for a statement? Clinton did it for Sinatra and I don't remember a complete shut down of government. I doubt Obama would be locked up in a room for days trying to figure out what to say...

I hear you.. Yeah.. you're world is very small.. It could be that you are just young.. If so, just keep living. Obama is not the Student body president, he is the president of the United States.. He's dealing with a war on two fronts, a world-wide economic collapse, a crazy korean dictator that is threatening to target hawaii with his missles, etc, etc, etc. He literally has the weight of the world on his shoulders. I don't think that MJ's death is that important to him. Does that make him a bad president? Bush issued a statement about James Brown.. Ok.. Look at everything else he did. He ran the world into the ground. I, personally, would rather have a president focused on whats really important than one glued to to entertainment news. |
|
I'm not young at all, I'll be 45 this year. Just by your statement that you want a president who is not glued to entertainment news sounds as if you're the one who's young. That was just an ignorant statement. My world is not small. I know exactly what's going on out there and I know what Obama is dealing with right now. I already stated my opinion on this subject. Now, you just keep on living.

Lets see barbecues on the white house lawn, interviews with the AP, and other media outlets, trips to camp david, trips all over the co untry promoting his healthcare plan that he's not actively involved in preparing, weekly parties, and media dinner engagements. You're right he has too many important things to worry about. LOL. He's hosting a barbecue tomorrow, so he has plenty of things to keep him occupied. I get it

Dear Black Americans You voted for me in droves. UGH UGH, you people voted for me overwhelmingly. Today, I do not need your support, I do not want your support, and I am not really Black. I am mulatto.... you know I m half white and kenyan. I have white women, latinos, and illegal immigrants now. You people, I tell you, will fall for anything..... Hey, thanks though... and stop eating popeyes for breakfast......

How come whenever black people question Obama about anything pertaining to black people or what black people care about, someone always says, "he has more important things to worry about".. you can now see that this is a running theme in the black community when it comes to him. Well, sadly they can't think of any other excuse, so they are sticking to this one...even though it's absolutely ridiculous. Pathetic, isn't it? "This generation will have to learn from damn near scratch what a real social movement looks like." |
