<<you all do notice how funny white folks are! NOW guess what! they are trying to say that their is no recollection of a pact being started by a group of girls at that school. the principal stating he didnt even know how the rumor got started. there is no such thing as a pregnancy pact at that school...blah blah...yea yea.... LAWD white folks are good at trying to cover up their s.hit! i swear........smdh.>>

That's why I can't get into the  BS hype over this story and associated excuses (the girls into the hype of the Hollyweird baby craze, Jamie Spears pregnancy) when IT HAS A LOT TO DO WITH PISS POOR ASS PARENTING-PERIOD!!  If this was some ish going on in a majority school with black or hispanic girls do you think MAINSTREAM MEDIA would give a DAMN about them??  Or just be like hmm soo typical of them!!

Thank you.  I too am sick of hearing about it's Jaime Lynn Spears that is making these girls get pregnant.  Really?  Didn't Jaime Lynn hid her pregnancy for months before she came out and said something. YOu are so right about how this has to do with poor parenting.  And you are correct that this wouldn't be on the news if it was black or hispanic.  I noticed something last night or the previous night, one of the reporters stated well these girls are seeing Halle and Angelina pregnant. Aren't those grown women?  Honestly, I don't care if Angelina and Halle were pregnant, they have money to take care of their child/children. So I am supposed to blame every pregnant star in Hollywood for the teen pregnancy epidemic.  This is just like when Dan Quayle blamed it on Murphy Brown.  Totally unconnected.

I will still believe it's a pack due to the stepfather of one of the girls who was asked to join the pact but she didn't.  His name is Ted Sorenson and he said stepdaughter was either too smart or too scared to do it.  Okay, why did he look into the camera when he talked about this, but one girl who's sister had a baby said that there was no pact but she couldn't look into the camera at all.  She had her head down.

"It's time for some of these parents to turn OFF the IPODS, computers, cell phones and dvd's and start TALKING to and actually raising their kids.  "

PREACH!!!!! Alot of so called "parents" aren't putting any work into raising their children. No discipline, no stability, nothing. It's a damn shame.

It's time for some of these parents to turn OFF the IPODS, computers, cell phones and dvd's and start TALKING to and actually raising their kids. These girls don't realize how hard it's gonna be....

"Their parents may love them but do they pay attention to them?  You have to pay attention to your children.  "

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Attention, is the main factor in most of these situations. Parents are too tired from working hard, and some just don't want to be bothered while their children just roam free. A little attention goes a long way.

i heard this line even from the lil sluts on Maury. Im trying to figure out why do they feel their parents dont love them unconditionally. Their parents may love them but do they pay attention to them? You have to pay attention to your children....

I applaud the folks that KNOW they do not want kids. A lot of folks give them grief, but those same folks seem to forget that there are a lot of unwanted kids in the world. Especially, colored children. I'm glad it worked out for you, but I wish society would lay off the folks that, IMO, are doing something unselfish by not bringing unloved and unwanted kids into the world.

And heck yes, babies cease being cute once you leave the hospital. These girls will learn the HARD way.

LOL, at the underlined.  This girl I know is going through this now.  She talks about the feedings every four hours even in the middle of the night.  No fun at all, I don't think she'll be having another any time soon.  Too bad she had to learn the hard way, but I'm glad she's learning.

"As for your thoughts about pregnancy, maybe we need to show teens a live vaginal birth. Many school sex ed classes do not show live births. They go through the mechanics of sexual reproduction."

I don't have kids and never wanted any. They should a natural birth video in my 11th grade biology class, it definately sealed the damn deal for me. Most of the other girls in my class wouldn't look at the screen, most of them have children now.

Thank you. As for your thoughts about pregnancy, maybe we need to show teens a live vaginal birth. Many school sex ed classes do not show live births. They go through the mechanics of sexual reproduction. Maybe a real time, pushing, blood and...

I am astonished on the news coverage of this.  I know if these were black or hispanic girls with a knocked up pact like this it wouldn't have gotten the major news coverage that it did.  It kills me of all the blame on society on how the girls are when I HEARD NO ONE IN THE NEWS OUTLETS BLAME THE DAMN PARENTS OF THESE GIRLS!!! It is sad when you don't have anyone calling out the lack of parental involvement in the lives of the young!!

EbonyDiva, I'm gonna take it a little further.  Statistically there has been an increase amongst white girls concerning teen pregnancy while black girls have decreased .  This is only getting national attention because their girls are now in a crisis, so they expect that the Earth should stop spinning on it's axis until there is a solution to the problem.  I say you reap what you sow, for years the white community sat back and thought it was okay to deny resources to other communites which is one of the root causes to a lot of social ills.  So I say now let's see if they develop some apathy now that they have to face some of these ills.

I agree with you fitpudd 100%.  These up scale middle class parents probably have given these students every type of material object to pacify them to keep them out of there hair until these students got bored with the material things and looked to other means of securing that "love". Its a shame that these parents are not held accountable for there lack of  " I had you, now you raise yourself, or see society, I have good children who don't have to be nurtured, love and told this everyday".

Life is experiences learned and some are not repeated because of the consequences, but these parents need to be charged, and put in counseling for being ignorant of how to "love your child".

Babies having babies, with grandmothers (or maybe younger) as young as 28 year of age, and they have no shame. The lack of a good or christian father in the home is a major reason for must of this stupid behavior.  These are the ones who will depend on local and federal programs to meet some of their personal needs.  Now there is a upswing of women filling up the jails, as the rate for males is steady increasing.

No women can be both mother and father. The failure rate speaks for it self. Both male and female children need the guidance, love and wisdom of the male in the home. However, if the father is not in the home he should be an intregal part of the his children life, both physically and financially. He should maintains a positive attitude when he is around the mother, in front of the chidren.

The churches have failed to discuss these issues because of maybe hurting some of the members feelings or making them feel guilty. The churchs must also teach life skills.   Although I have not been blessed to knowing my father, and lossing my mother at the age of 10.  I wonder how much greater a man I would have been if I had grown up with both loving parents. Learning how to love women came later in my life, but I didn't become a homosexual.

..back in the 7th grade I had a friend named Crystal who had been pregnant twice..she had abortions and her mom didnt even know it. I moved away atthe end of the semester...I caught back up with her when I went to college and she had 2 kids by then...but back in the 7th I was just shocked that kids were doing it ...she would go to the bathroom with boys during class time .....

That's scary because I also knew a girl back in 7th or 8th grade (maybe 2 girls) who also had abortions. That is so young 12 or 13 yrs. old.  I was still playing with dolls and other toys at that age.  I'm glad I was very shy when I was young because especially these days you can get into a lot of trouble.

Please explain to me why is it when white girls get pregnant in large numbers its a pact? They don't pry into these ladies homes and find out if a father figure even exist its assumed. They don't investigate their neighborhood and the media sugar coated the reporting.

When minorities get pregnant they have poor homes, no father figure, etc. etc.

Racism is real and no one of color has asked these questions? Are we comfortable now with how we are treated by the Media? What message are we sending to our youth? Its okay for them to be treated differently?

Then we have a black man speak on national tv about black men on Father's Day!

<<EbonyDiva, I'm gonna take it a little further. So I say now let's see if they develop some apathy now that they have to face some of these ills.>>

I know I got my apathy GALORE!! I AM IN 1000% agreement with you completely on this!!!

its a big problem at the school i teach at.  this year i got a huge headache over the number of girls that became pregnant over the school year or the previous summer.  i dunno how many times i have told my classes to stay away from pregnancies because it vastly changes their lives

i told one of my female students that her 20s was the time she should be having fun and having a child would hinder that.  she replied back to me that she could still have fun if she had a child.  she would just leave the child with her mama. * smh*

some teens actually think the pullout method is a viable birth control.  to tell the truth i think our teens not being given sex ed is a poor move.  they start to think things like smoking marijuana to get a low sperm count will allow them not to get a girl pregnant.

the pressure for boys to be men is also high and unfortunately having sex in the generation means that u are grown *smh *  our value system at the moment isn't  good at all plus until we stop looking at ppeople who are not having sex as squares and outcasts we can't expect teen pregnancies to drop.
I feel sorry that while you try to instill some sense of value and common sense in your students those are 2 traits left to the parents to have done.  Unfortunately those parents in your school have done a shitty job of not teaching that which is very sad!!  Does your school teach sex ed???  It seems rather apparent that some type of education needs to be taught and perhaps having someone coming into the school who has HIV/AIDS and talks about their life  perhaps shows the amount of meds they take daily is VERY MUCH NEEDED at the school!!

are you serious?!?!?

They thought pot smoking was some sort of birth control? THAT is so sad. Lower sperm count for a teenage boy, still sounds like too much for me.

i don't even want to know some of the other ignorant mess they got from their peers on how not to get pregnant. (probably stuff like if u have sex standing up u won't get pregnant )

<<lol @ does my school teach sex ed.  we are in the bible belt here in texas .. sex ed isn't allowed in schools.>>

ShockTHAT IS REALLY REALLY SAD!!  From what you have describe IT IS VERY MUCH NEEDED!! No abstinence program would work although for it to be addressed is strongly recommended!!!  Why is that the case of no sex ed in your school even with the abundance of pregnancies and sad ass misinformation these young people have?????

THAT IS VERY MUCH HORRIBLE and I am not sure what stance you would take on it but is it possible for you to address that concern to your school board based on what you have stated???
