Disney First Black Princess(298)
|
NEW ORLEANS - The Walt Disney Co. has started production on an animated musical fairy tale called “The Frog Princess,” which will be set in New Orleans and feature the Walt Disney Studio’s first black princess. The film, set for release in 2009, also is the first hand-drawn film Disney has committed to since pledging last month to return to the traditional animation that made it a worldwide brand. “The Frog Princess,” a musical scored by composer Randy Newman, is “an American fairy tale” starring a girl named Maddy who lives in the French Quarter in New Orleans, said John Lasseter, chief creative director for Disney and Pixar Animation Studios.

OH No! I really hope they don't do that.....you know Disney is famous for their subliminal messages...this would be real trouble if they make her prince white. They always want to make us bend and be in a relationship with a white, but they never compromise the white characters.....That chickie from the Little Mermaid didn't have a brother trying to get in her panties. lol

My only issue is the friggin' title. All the other little princess's got sweet titles but this one doesn't sound so sweet. *leans in and whispers* My favorite princess of them all is Ariel from the Little Mermaid.
Memorable Quotes (this movie has so many it was hard to choose): Bullet Tooth Tony: You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity. Brick Top: In the quiet words of the Virgin Mary... come again? Bullet Tooth Tony: Boris the Blade? As in Boris the Bullet-Dodger? Avi: You got a toothbrush? We're going to London. Do you hear that, Doug? I'm coming to London. Vinny: I thought you said he was a getaway driver. What the f*ck can he get away from? Turkish: F*ck me, hold tight. What's that? |

That is a fear that exist in live action movies and a fear that exist even in animated movies. |

They are so ridiculous and that's why it's dangerous for them to be in control of telling our stories. Walt Disney and his company were racist as hell back in the day. In my black studies class, we watched a cartoon from the 30s called "Snow Black"....it was ridiculously racist. Big ass lips, big bucked eyes, and watermelon were all over the screen. I am elated about having a black princess and I believe ALL little girls will want to see this film. Their white parents may be another story though. I still hope they don't pair her with a white man....black women, even on screen, can be independent of a white man to save their day. lol |
