Disney..No Black Princessess(564)

Have you ever noticed that Disney has never done a fairy tale with a Black princess?  We have Pocahontas who represents Native America, Mulan who represents the Chinese and Jasmine who represents the descendants of the Middle East.  I wonder why no black princess.  Hmmm?

"Be a gold-medal multitasker. You should be able to discuss the new Ludacris video while correcting the merchandising spreadsheets, picking the right shade of snakeskin for next season's mini-purses and catching the dog at the same time!"

Disney is and has always been racist. The original Fantasia was blatant.

"A girl who's always sexy

She loves back seats in taxis

And talking good and trashy"

I have thought about this before, I think they thought we'd be satisfied with the Lion King.

Didn't they do Cinderella with Brandy or was that someone else?

We need that cute little boy who screams "That's Racist!"

Now that you mention it, that's true. I wanna say they need to work on that but what's the point.

Where I Wanna Be....

ATTACK OF THE HAPPY BUNNIES

Formally "BedStuyCutie81"...dam you AO-Hell!

I have noticed this since I had my daughter two yrs ago.. I don't even buy those three lil white girls(disney princess stuff). because of that reason..I actually like some of the stuff. lamps, toy chest, panties, comforter sets etc..But I want my daughter to see a black doll in some of those items...So I stick with barbie, and cabbage patch dolls...

If you want to know what you are full of, and what your heart is full of, listen to your conversation

That was someone else.

Oh come on now...It's Disney....Its fun and fantasy...why put so much thought into it..just enjoy it...

I just keep climbing up the ladder, y'all never stop my swagger
All this petty chitter-chatter only make my pockets fatter
Some peoples jobs just to talk about Lil' Kim
Let's face it, I'm a way of life for all of them..

                                     SHUT UP B!TCHES!!!

Yea, I know I'm mixed up....But I claim them all...mixed up and proud dammit!!

Disney is definitely all about fantasy....the little girls that come to Disney and see Snow White, Jasmine, Cinderella whether black, white, puerto rican, etc. care more about the whole idea of being a princess than what color she is.  It's the adults that ultimately ruin the fantasy for these children and don't allow them to just enjoy being children.

.........sometimes you want your kids to see something that they can identify with as far as skin color.....................

why shouldn't there be a black princess...........

lmfao.

Your wrong. if that were the case we should have never made black dolls. Studies after studies show that images mean ALOT, esp. to young minds.

I've noticed. But haven't we been dealing with whites hating us for oh..just like 500 years...

We need our own Bollywood I tell ya. We have to stop relying on whites.

"they thought we'd be satisfied with the Lion King."

......I always thought it was cheap that they did an African themed disney  movie, with no black people; just animals.

There needs to be more, but the Cinderella w/Brandy was a Disney movie.

i know what you're saying, but it seems like a "damned since they don't, but be damned if they did" - because if they DID do an african-themed feature about some african princess, then we'd hear accusations of "stealing black culture for their corporate greed!!!"
.
and why does it have to be disney that does it? aren't there projects with similar themes produced by blacks?

I knew when I was FIVE that Walt Disney and co was racist. Nothing's really changed since them. As much as I loved the classic Disney animated and like action films, I knew what the deal was. And I REFUSE to watch Song of the South.
They actually did a skit on SNL about Disney being racist and they  showed the movie"Songs of the South".
