LOL... I HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET... SO I DON'T KNOW!!!!  BUT MY SIS SAW IT IN THE MOVIES & SHE KEPT SINGING "YOU KNOW IT'S HARD OUT HERE FOR A PIMP"!!!!  I WAS LAUGHING MY ASSS OFF... SO I ALREADY HAVE A PRECONCEPTION ABOUT THE MOVIE ALREADY!!!!  I HEARD IT'S GOOD THO!!!!
It's funny and sad at the same time.  If you have a healthy self esteem, pimping and hoeing is a big joke.  But remember there are women who actually live this lifestyle; and that is when it gets sad.  I remember my first time going to Miami , I drove past a part of town where prostitutes walk the streets.  I saw the most beautiful women in the world and all I could think was  what the hell happened to them.  They could come to the midwest and have men trying to hook them up real quick.

Well, it is keeping my attention but this movie is too funny.

I was really surprised by this movie.  As really dumb and ignorant as it could've been, John Singleton and his cast really executed this film extremely well.  You know you're watching a pretty engrossing story when you find yourself rooting for an ignorant, self-centered, stereotypical prostitute broker to make it big.

"Hustle & Flow" is such a good movie that I might finally be able to forgive Singleton for "Shaft 2000".

I thought it was a really good movie also.  But people on here wouldn't give it a chance because it was about pimping.  But it sure as hell did not "glorify" pimping.  It showed how it was a horrible choice in life to pimp or to be a prostitute.  When the white girl said 20 for the front 40 for the back; all I could do was shake me head.  I am happy for Terrance well deserved nomination; he played the hell out of the role.  I loved his raw desperation to get out of the business, by trying to "pimp" Ludacris.  Love it.
I have yet to see this movie, I went to the video store to rent it and it was gone already..I was thinking of ordering it on "On Demand"But you got me second guessing that decision...

Oscar Song Category Sparse This Year

Listen to this story...

Terrence Howard, playing a pimp, is surrounded by three young women.

Terrence Howard, shown here in a scene from 'Hustle & Flow,' won't perform 'It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp' at the Oscars.

Weekend Edition - Saturday, March 4, 2006 · This year marks only the second time in Oscar history that just three songs were nominated. Murray Horwitz, director of the American Film Institute's Silver Theater, talks about this year's best song nominees.

The composers of "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp," from Hustle & Flow, will perform it during Sunday night's show, making it the first hip-hop song to be performed at the Oscars. (Actor Terrence Howard, who rapped in the movie, said he is too out of practice to do it this weekend.)

The other Oscar nominees are "Travelin' Thru," from Transamerica, which was written and performed by Dolly Parton; and "In the Deep," from Crash. The latter was written by Michael Becker and Kathleen "Bird" York and sung by Ms. York.

I was through with that movie when I saw a poster for it with some woman looking as though she was about to deep-throat a rather phallic looking microphone.  I couldn't decide whether I found the lack of subtlety amusing or insulting.

Dayum he caved? I guess Will got thru to him.."shrugs"

He didn't cave.  That is not his song, the writers of the song are going to sing it.

THANKS... I LOOKING FORWARD TO WATCHING THIS MOVIE!!!!
Girl, the preview on Comcast In Demand is hilarious... I can't believe they got funding for this shit.

""YOU KNOW IT'S HARD OUT HERE FOR A PIMP"!!!! "

Hey, isn't Celine Dion supposed to sing that tonight at the Oscars?

LOL!

I'm listening to the edited version of "Pimp" now - first time hearing it...and I cannot believe that it was actually nominated for an Oscar!!!! Or even a BET award...or a POOKIE award! (I made that one up...LOL!)

Makes the nomination of "Ben" for best song back in the 70s seem like Beethoven now....*SMH*

Hey, I love Ben! It's a sweet song.
Did you hear about that J5 drummer who was killed in Gary last week??

<<Makes the nomination of "Ben" for best song back in the 70s seem like Beethoven now....*SMH*>>

a little off topic:

Knowing what we now know about Micheal, do you think he was really singing about a mouse?

Noooooooooooooo!!! Don't ruin a song from my childhood!!!

LOL. Ok Sorry.

Back to the subject... I could not enjoy Hustle and flow because the entire story  line was too ghetto. The characters were total low lifes. The only character I liked was Ludicris because he did not give a Dam* . I totally shared is sentiments.
