Forest Whitaker To Direct TV Project

Posted Oct 8th 2007 10:47AM by Marcus Vanderberg

Oscar winner Forest Whitaker is returning to the FX network following his successful stint on 'The Shield.'

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Whitaker is set to direct and executive produce a drama series project for FX, which is described as "Sopranos" set in the world of arms dealers.

Also executive producing the project are Emmy-winning longform producer Cary Brokaw and veteran drama writer-producer Eric Overmyer.

Whitaker won a best actor Oscar this year for his portrayal of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in 'The Last King of Scotland.'

The untitled project marks the first major television project since Whitaker's role on "The Shield" as ambitious internal affairs Detective Jon Kavanaugh.

Season 2 of 'The Boondocks' Starts Monday

Posted Oct 8th 2007 12:05AM by Marcus Vanderberg
Filed under: Everybody Hates Marcus

After an 18-month hiatus, 'The Boondocks' returns to Cartoon Network on Monday night at 11:30PM.

As reported by Karu F. Daniels in the Entertainment Newswire, the network has ordered 15 new episodes that will run through January 2008.

If you can't just wait until Monday night to watch the first episode - or are one of the few that don't have cable, you can watch the first episode on the Adult Swim website.

The first episode is funny and includes cameos by Mo'Nique and rapper Snoop Dogg.

And for those of you who are against the "N-word", McGruder eased up on the use of the word.

Well, at least for the first episode that is.

For more information on 'The Boondocks' check out the official website.

Share your thoughts on the first episode.

Jacko To Appear on 'X-Factor'

Nice to see Jacko getting some much needed work.

TMZ.com is reporting that Michael Jackson will be on television in early December as a part of Simon Cowell's British show "X-Factor."

Jackson is being brought on to mentor contestants on the show, which is the UK's version of 'American Idol.'

Did I fail to mention that some are as young as 14?

Yum-O for Jacko.

Let's hope he can just keep his grubby hands to himself this time around.

(Allegedly)

This would be a perfect transition into my story about my visit to Neverland Ranch as a teenager but I think I'll save that story for a rainy day.

And no, I wasn't touched.

No Jesus Juice for me.

Montel Williams Gets Married ... Again

Posted Oct 6th 2007 9:53PM by Marcus Vanderberg
Filed under: Everybody Hates Marcus

Is anyone not surprised that Montel Williams married a white woman?

The talk show host Williams and his fiancée, Tara Fowler, wed before an intimate gathering of friends and family Saturday afternoon on a beach in Bermuda, according to People magazine.

Williams, 51, proposed to Fowler, 36, a former American Airlines flight attendant, on July 12, 2006, in front of both of their families at Manhattan's Tavern on the Green restaurant.

Did I read that correctly?

Let me find out Montel is bagging women 15 years younger than him.

This is the third marriage for Williams, who has four children – two from each of his previous marriages. It is the first for Fowler.

Third time is a charm, right?

When D-Level Reality Stars Attack

Posted Oct 4th 2007 7:15PM by Marcus Vanderberg

Normally I wouldn't cover a story involving Jonny Fairplay (who?) and former child star Danny Bonaduce, but this video clip is too good to be true.

Fairplay, whose real name is Jon Dalton, filed a report with the Los Angeles Police Department Wednesday and charged Bonaduce with assault after the Partridge Family star threw Fairplay to the ground, resulting in some missing teeth.

The alleged incident took place during the Fox Reality Really Channel awards, which were being held at a Sunset Boulevard nightclub.

As you can clearly tell by the video, Fairplay jumped in the arms of Bonaduce, who then proceeded to perform a WWE move on the reality "star."

Hulk Hogan to Host 'American Gladiators'

Posted Oct 3rd 2007 2:52PM by Marcus Vanderberg
Filed under: Everybody Hates Marcus

NBC announced on Wednesday that WWE legend Hulk Hogan will be the host of 'American Gladiators' on NBC.

The popular competition show from the '90s is returning to NBC next year and will have all of the classic events such as The Joust, The Wall, Hang Tough and the Eliminator.

According to the network, "American Gladiators," the iconic event/competition show, returns with a fresh modern reinvention for the 21st century. Using splashy twists including special effects, water skills and the latest technology, the classic games will be upgraded with even higher thrills, impact, energy and spectacle."

Hogan is the right man for this job - it's a game show that is brilliant but isn't meant to be taking seriously.

Much like Hogan and his career as a WWE wrestler.

Brilliant but clearly fake.

Did A Caveman Just Punk Sherri Shepherd?

You see how ABC is doing a sista...

On 'The View' Monday, one of the co-stars from 'Caveman' appeared on the show and made it a point to poke fun at Sherri Shepherd and her thoughts about the earth being round and evolution.

They are provoking her to act a damn fool on that show - watch and see.

Don't say I didn't warn you when she has old ass Barbara Walters in a headlock.

Joan Is About To Lose A Man ... Again

Posted Oct 2nd 2007 11:13PM by Marcus Vanderberg
Filed under: Everybody Hates Marcus

By now, fans of the show 'Girlfriends' have had a chance to watch Monday's episode.

Now if you read the blog on a regular basis, you were warned that Richard T. Jones, who plays Aaron on the show, was leaving The CW show for another project.

We were wondering how producer Mara Brock Akil would handle his departure from the show - - and it looks like she took the military route.

This leaves Akil with a couple of options for Aaron's character later on in the season.

There is always a chance that Jones could come back for a cameo appearance on the show ...

...or as what happens often time in war, people die.

As in bang-bang to Aaron completely as he takes a stray bullet somewhere in the middle of Iraq?

Thoughts?

How Bad Did You Think 'Caveman' Was?

Posted Oct 2nd 2007 11:03PM by Marcus Vanderberg
Filed under: Everybody Hates Marcus

Curious how many of you watched 'Caveman' on ABC on Tuesday night - - and if you did watch, how many thought it was awful?

Zero laughs for me during the 30-minute episode.

Parts of it even made me cringe because it was so bad.

Almost brought back memories of the television show 'Dinosaurs' from the early '90s.

No wonder the ABC executives didn't screen the show before it aired tonight.

I give the show three episodes, max ...

Kanye's Skit From 'Saturday Night Live'

I hope Kanye didn't think by doing this skit on 'Saturday Night Live' that he would come off as likable ... because now I dislike him even more.

Kanye sure does love himself some Kanye.

Even King James Can't Save 'SNL'

Not even LeBron James can save the train wreck that is 'Saturday Night Live'

The 33rd season of the comedy-variety show kicked out this weekend with King James getting the nod for hosting duties while rapper Kanye West served the role of the musical guest, filling in for the troubled Amy Winehouse.

(For the record, I missed Jermaine Taylor getting KO'ed because of SNL. Eff you, NBC.)

It was going to be hard for Lebron to top the performance of Colts quarterback Peyton Manning from last season, but he didn't even come close on the laugh factor.

And oddly enough, I don't blame LeBron.

If you saw him at the ESPY Awards over the summer with Jimmy Kimmel, we saw flashes of greatness from James.

But whenever you have the writers of SNL deciding your fate, that's one defense that even LeBron can't overcome.

Earlier in the week, news came out that Maya had left the show ... only to return for at least this season.

She should have left while she had the chance - it's not too late Maya.

Paris Hilton Grilled on 'Late Show'

Kudos to David Letterman.

Paris Hilton made the mistake of appearing on the 'Late Show' on Friday night and the talk show host grilled the celebutante on her time in prison.

This was the total opposite of when Hilton appeared on 'Larry King Live' during the summer, when King tossed her questions easy enough that even Hilton managed to get right.

I'm sure her publicists were in the dressing room cringing during the entire eight-minute interview as Letterman was relentless on Hilton.

Adrianne Curry Just Won't Shut Up

Adrianne Curry, who was in the news last week for her blog comments on BET and Black History Month, backtracked on some of the comments she stated in her post.

Two days after her original post, Curry decided to post a rebuttal.

The first winner of 'America's Next Top Model' touched a nerve with her comments - and judging by the comments in the first post on Everybody Hates Marcus, 90 percent of the folks are in disagreement with her.

Pharrell To Produce New TV Drama

Posted Sep 29th 2007 8:38PM by Marcus Vanderberg
Filed under: Everybody Hates Marcus

Producer and part-time rapper Pharrell Williams has signed up as a consulting producer for a new television drama called 'Limelight.'

Also involved in the project are veteran entertainment executive-turned-producer Leonard Goldberg, McG and comedy writer-producer David Rosenthal.

The show is a drama project set in a performing-arts school.

"Pharrell is the ultimate embodiment of credibility in this space -- he attended a performing-arts high school and went on to become the most prolific producer of our generation," McG said. "I am honored to be his partner as he enters the world of television."

It pays to be famous.

You have no television experience at all and you get selected as a consulting producer on a television show because you churn out hot beats and you went to a performing-arts high school 15 years ago.

Clearly, I'm in the wrong profession.
