Lots of people, including fans, were shocked to read last week when word went out that Terrence Howard was being replaced by Don Cheadle as James 'Rhodey' Rhodes in the upcoming Marvel Studios sequel 'Iron Man 2'. Generally, when someone gets replaced in a film for a sequel, most of the time it has to do with money. Plenty of actors have gone through this so the trend won't stop. Even Howard was caught off guard by the news.
While doing an interview with the radio station NPR for his album, the issue of him being replaced on the film was brought up.
You're not gonna be Jim Rhodes in 'Iron Man 2.'
Howard: Yea, I found that out too.
Really? They didn't...
Howard: It was the surprise of a lifetime. There was no explanation. I read something in the trades that implicated it was about money or something but apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren't worth the paper that they're printed on. And promises aren't kept. Good faith negotiations aren't always held up. You know, even friendships, people that you support...
If you want to hear Terrence talk about this, along with some other stuff, such as his music, family and science, go here.

1. I don't get it; what's up with that? Not that Don Cheadle isn't good, but what is he going to bring to the role that Terrence Howard didn't?
