Jesse Jackson - Bailout Doesn't Keep Hope Alive

Posted Oct 13th 2008 11:00AM by Madison J. Gray
Filed under: Money Talks, Jesse Jackson, News

It's a good thing the Rev. Jesse Jackson is keeping an educated ear to the ground on the current financial crisis because I'm not so sure anyone else in the activist community is.

Yeah, I do hear a lot of rhetoric coming from all sides, but the 'hood is really suffering because of the fallout from the global economic panic that took place last week.

The result, as many of us have experienced, is trickle-down poverty. Now, it's not like Jackson is on Capitol Hill, in the Treasury Department, or at the helm of Goldman Sachs. But he does offer an intelligent viewpoint of what is happening because at the end of the day, the buck stops on MLK Boulevard as well as Main Street.

This video comes from Financial Times.com, another excellent resource of world economic news that I highly recommend. They don't have embedding for their web videos, but you can find the link to the Jackson interview here.

1. Jesse....please! Just go away!

2. Gosh! You took the words out of my mouth!!!

Lisa Davis at 6:43PM on Oct 13th 2008

3. Islamic groups like CAIR are waging a war of words using black leaders like Louis Farrakhan, Rev. Jesse Jackson and other visible religious personalities to promote Islam as the original African-American's religion while Christianity is for the whites! Strange enough, no one tells the African-Americans that it was the Arab Muslims who captured them and sold them as slaves, neither the fact that in Arabic the word for black and slave is the same, "Abed."

Wake up my black brothers and sisters! Let racism stop with you. Voting for a black president based on his color and ignoring his character is racism.

4. JESSE, GET A JOB...BUT FIRST PLEASE KEEP READING REV. J. JACKSON AND FAMILY ATTENDS A COCKTAIL PARTY SPONSORED BY A LIQUOR MANUFACTOR ("BOMBAY" IS A BRAND OF GIN), HAS HIS PICTURE TAKEN WITH SOME REPUBLICIANS, DEMOCRATES AND VARIOUS "CELEBARTIES" FINDS THE FUNDING TO POST A WEB WITH SOME GLOSSY PICS, FINDS A HARD-UP MEDIA PERSON TO INTERVIEW HIM ABOUT HIS OPINION OF THE FINANCIAL CRISIS. NOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE. NEXT TIME YOU GET ALL DRESSED UP...DO YOUR SON A FAVOR...STAY HOME. MARK MY WORDS...REV. J.J. WANTS J.J. JR. IN THE WHITE HOUSE. I KNOW LITTLE ABOUT JUNIOR (HOPEFULLY, THE APPLE HAS FALLEN FAR FROM THE OLE' TREE) BUT JESSE, I'M OLD ENOUGH TO REMEMBER YOU WITH "YOUR ADVOCATING FOR THE BLACK COMMUNITY" BUT NEVER LIFTED UP ANYONE OTHER THAN YOURSELF. (THOUGH YOU WEREN'T AS BAD AS YOUR COHORT; GOLDEN FRANKS) YOU ARE A JOKE/ A PROFESSIONAL POT STIRRER. SO ARE YOU HOPING TO MUSCLE J.J.JR. IN THE WHITE HOUSE? (OR MAYBE JUST) PECKIN'ORDER FOR POLITICAL ALIGNMENT WITH OBAMA?
J.J.JR., I WOULD NEVER ADVISE A SON TO DITCH HIS DAD...THAT WOULD BE UNFAIR AND UNGODLY. HOWEVER, I WILL ADVISE YOU TO DREAM YOUR OWN DREAMS AND HOPEFUULY YOU WILL SUCEED WITHOUT THE FALL-OUT OF YOUR FATHER'S LEGACY. GOOD LUCK

5. Jessie Jackson should find another occupation....
He is embrassing and should just "Shut" up...
I lost respect for him when he had a "Love" child out of his marriage....
My Mother (Who Just Die) use to send money in to help his agency..and when she found he had a "Love" child..she lost respect for him and figured this money was being use to support his "Love" child
I know everybody make mistakes...but where is progress with Mr. Jessie...just talk, rhymes and "Show ups"
Then this Obama comment...Please...step down and get out the way of progress....
He should either step up his game or let someone else lead the way..and why do we need leaders anyway..we are not sheeps...
This is not the 50's or 60's...we have to progress...
Martin L. King/Malcolm has paved the way...
Let's make progress, the 60's tatics are not productive..it is "out of date and Old"

7. People give me a break, if it wasn't for Jesse you won't have quite a few things. How quick we forget just about everyone in the politcal sence has had some type of sexual scandal. The things that people do and the accomopolishs that have been made are two different things. Jesse got several companies to allow Blacks to own dealerships for cars, food and other stores. If he got a penny because of it so what. That is the business world. We forget again that things are going to be bought up on Obama and anyone Black that is running for any office . Most of the changes that are being made are going to affect Blacks it is going to set us back 50 years. Just wait with the government taking over the banks those that don't own homes now won't stand a chance . If your credit has been jacked up by people allowing those who had a job that paid them 1500 a month, and gave them bills that totaled 3000 a month, you and your children can forget about college, car, jobs. In response to the person who talks of Farrakhan, and other Black leaders who speak out against racism, it is simply amazing how they do and say things. Some Africans were Muslins, Christians were forced on people of color, and every since that time races of all kind have been taken a back in the name of Christians. These are the same people that preach hatred everytime they get a chance. What I don't understand is that when it comes to McCain how everyone seems to forget this person voted against MLK, holiday and voted against women getting paid for jobs that they do, and pay them the same as men. Please look and pay attention.

8. Jesse Jackson is SO irrelevant in today's world. With the 'baby daddy' situation that he created in his onw family, why does he insist on trying to insert a public political on anything? No matter who he votes for, I believe his opinion is useless in the big scheme of things. No more political comments out of YOU Jesse Jackson!!!

Jeff Brooks at 12:31AM on Oct 16th 2008

9. The so-called Reveren(t) J.J. is nothing more than an opportunist. The mere thought of him suggesting that we should keep hope alive makes me sick to my stomach. Was the good Rev keeping Hope alive when he had a baby out of wedlock in the name of JESUS? Was he keeping Hope alive when he made degrading remarks about Obama? Not that any of us are perfect! However, I HOPE that he would go and crawl back under his rock called VANITY!
