Princess Parent: 'American Idol's' Paris Bennett Gives Birth

Paris BennettSeason five 'American Idol' contestant Paris Bennett has given birth to a baby girl.

The singer's rep confirmed that she welcomed a daughter named Egypt Bennett on Monday afternoon.

Bennett's firstborn arrived at 3:36pm and weighed in at five pounds, 15 ounces.

"I'm so excited to finally see my little angel – and man, does she have lungs on her," the singer announced. "I guess she's gearing up to be the next 'American Idol.'"

"Paris's mother Jamecia Bennett and her family is filled with excitement and welcomes their bundle of joy," her rep said in the statement.

BV Buzz reported back on June 28 that the 20-year-old 'A.I.' finalist was pregnant after her mother confirmed the news with 'Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune' columnist C.J.

"This makes five generations," an overjoyed Jamecia said at that time.

"Princess P," who is the granddaughter of former Sounds of Blackness lead singer Ann Nesby, has never revealed the identity of her daughter's father, previously telling the paper that he "chooses not to be in the public eye."

In other news, Bennett will release a jazz-fused holiday CD, 'A Royal Christmas,' on Oct. 14.

5. And the POINT IS? Wow another baby having a baby and what makes it worse is, "the baby daddy doesn't chooses not to be in the public eye?" Give me a break people...He's either MARRIED, GAY, SPOKEN FOR, or A LOSER, ok....

6. Who?

Sha at 8:51PM on Oct 8th 2008

7. Haters please stop. She's no baby. Good luck to her and her baby and baby's father. I wouldn't want to be in the public eye either. Look what happens when fools find out your business. They always has something negative to say.

8. Congratulations!! I hope for continuted health and happiness for you, your daughter, and your extended family. I'm not one to judge so I won't say anything else. I'll just sit here and quietly think my thoughts. LOL!

9. Congratulations Ms. Paris! I know Egypt has to be a beautiful bundle of joy and with her big lungs, I'm sure she will carry on the family name with the heavenly singing you've been giving us. I think you're a beautiful and talented young lady that I just Adore! You're my Angel everytime you sing!
Love, Love, Love my Paris Bennett

10. Congrats? congrats? Please, Miss Paris is coming from a very religious and well respected family and we/they are happy about a child having a child? And being unmarried at that? How's that any different from the Jamie Spears situation? I think she put career at risk and her good family's name in the dump. Are we not teaching abstinence anymore? Absolutely absurd.

suzanne bell at 8:52PM on Oct 12th 2008

11. Maybe they don't realize how stupid they look to talk about a future husband that doesn't exist. Ok, your act is up! Just face it, you slipped up and got preggers and the baby daddy's gone. You wouldn't be the first...

Kira at 2:27PM on Oct 14th 2008

12. I wish her and her new daughter well, but why do we continue to celebrate these teen unwed mothers? If it were my daughter, I would not disown nor be ashamed of her, but she would know that I was disappointed. These situations have just become the norm and not the exception and this should not be so.

Sylvia at 2:59PM on Oct 16th 2008

13. This young lady is talented, but need to put priorities in order. If these young ladies don't want to abstain from having sex out of marriage. with the wide array of birth control to choose from, why are they so careless and irresponsible? We keep hearing about a large % of black women being plagued by Aids, this is why. No protection is used, and obviously no father is being published because he is probably also out of the picture. Yes, we know the child is here now and thank God she is healthy. But what about next time, why is such reckless behavior by women being condoned, with this deadly disease out there. All we need is another black child with no father in the picture. Another black woman who may have to raise the child alone, that is nothing to celebrate. We know the statistics of children (boys and girls) who need both parents in their lives, to have both to identify with. Our black men also need to step up to the plate and take responsibility for their actions too. The difference with Brittany's sister is the father is with her, and plans to marry her. It's not celebrated that she is an unwed teen, but at least the guy is trying to step up to the plate to take care of his child. What is Paris' "baby daddy" doing to step up to the plate?
Our culture is in a pitiful state, we hope the next generation will make our forefathers proud. Because we keep bringing our own culture down by not recognizing the importance of having a full family (mother & father) in the household for our black children. It is sad.
