Runway to Realway Fall Beauty Trends with Rihanna, J-Hud, Jordin Sparks, Keri Hilson, Kid Sister

RUNWAY: Chanel Iman wearing "the bowl cut" at Yves Saint Laurent

When making our transition from summer to fall we shouldn't be limited to just wardrobe and and dietary changes (seasonal colonics anyone?) We should also make a few changes in the beauty department as well. When Stylespotter attended the Fall collections this past February, we took note of the beauty direction from the various designers when not gagging on the hottest furs, boots and coats to consider investing in. We also noticed that some of it was deadringers for what some of our favorite celebs have been doing for quite some time if not recently. When Yves Saint Laurent sent out an army of models in 60's Beatles-esque bowl cut wigs, I immediately thought of superproducer Timbaland ingénue Kheri Hilson when she blew us away with her version in their "Way We Are" music video last year. Teen girls have been copying Rihanna's bright makeup before John Galliano featured it at Christian Dior. And the bright nails at his namesake collection? Chicago rapper Kid Sister spewed she 'got her toes done with her fingernails matchin' inher first single "Pro Nails" this past spring. Here, we show some of our favorite beauty trends of the season straight from the runway and celebs who do it their way... which is the real way to do it course.

REALWAY: R&B newcomer Keri Hilson rocks the "bowl" cut the real way

RUNWAY: Chanel Iman is "pretty in pink" at Anna Sui

REALWAY: Pink works on many skintones including pop star Rihanna's

RUNWAY: Liya Kebede wearing "smokey eyes" at Oscar De La Renta

REALWAY: J-Hud wears the smokey eye with silver accents

RUNWAY: Jourdan Dun wears beautiful neutrals at Valentino

REALWAY: Vanessa Williams wearing neutral makeup at the 2008 Emmys

RUNWAY: Striped bold colored nails at John Galliano

REALWAY: Hip-hopper Kid Sister sporting bright nails

RUNWAY: Black nails at Baby Phat

REALWAY: Jordin Sparks' dark nails at MTV's 2008 VMAs

Tell us, do celebs inspire the runway or does the runway inspire celebrity style?

1. Where the Black women at? A lot of Blacks just can't stop promoting slavery. All these mixed women reminds me of slavery just like soul food and the "N" word does. Black women use to be natural beauties, now they look as fake as european women. Don't try and tell me that the mulatto didn't come out of slavery. Blacks are foolish to elevate and celebrate european's chromosones amoung our race forgetting how it all started with the Black woman been disgraced. I understand that sell-out Black men has an insatiable appetite for that which is white and light, putting undo pressure of Black women to conform to that perception. All the money and time that is spent by women trying to be different and here is the Black woman as different as they come and she is running away from it. "If you don't understand the system of white supremancy/racism, everything you think you understand will only confuse you," DR. FRANCES CRESS-WELSING.

4. You know I get so tired of the negative comments about blacks in America. Certainly there is no doubt yes our foreparents were raped, robbed, dehumanized etc. Yes, it is true and yes we know that! So then at what point do we start the healing process? We cannot change the past; however we have the possiblitlity of an awesome future. "Can we all just get along" Meaning us Black people. If we continue to hate ourselves and one another we stay in this place of regression...never moving forward. When we began to love ourselves and each other we will be able to work together and build for ourselves and our families of the future. Nonetheless, I dare say as long as we look back we tend to go backwards. It appears to me that we have so much disdain for ourselves that we will support artists that spew out negative lyrics and images of our community, women, men, neighborhoods etc. It's Ludacris that we as a people support it. We are sending a message to the world. The community at large responds to us as if we
have given them permission to disrespect, discriminate, arrest and continue to mistreat us because we mistreat us. No not all of us indeed, but all of us have the responsiblity to make better choices and to just say no to ANYTING that proves damaging to our overall well being. We have strength in numbers and we have a voice yes we can rise above the effects of the insidious words, images, beliefs, habits, practices etc. that so easily beset us. You may think I am pollyanne-ish in my comments. However, I beg to differ. Just open your eyes and mind, look around at other races on a broad scale... do you notice the basic differences. And no I am not talking about economics. Observe they work together, respect one another, themselves, their communities and willie lynch is not running their lives.

We have mega-churches do you know how much power that represents? A lot, a whole lot. I site the church because we tend to gather in droves at these institutions. Nonetheless, let me also say that their is power in our communities as well. We just need to wake up! And work with what we have. And please do not say we don't have anything. We have a lot! Come on let's exercise our options let's get outside of the box, stigmas, stereotypes etc. and Be all of that and some!
