1. I think Obama clearly showed the command of the issues to be the president and commander-in-chief. McCain...not so much.

Jaded One at 10:51PM on Sep 26th 2008

2. While both candidates often avoided giving direct answers to direct questions, Obama's delivery in almost all instances was that of a true Statesman. His ideology is much like a young Koffi Annan. Well done Obama. McCain tried his best to keep his head above water, and what is this not looking Obama in the eye business? At least he was better than G.W. Bush in his debates, but then, that's not hard to do.

NRC at 11:06PM on Sep 26th 2008

3. I think Obama clearly won the debate. He was able to stand toe to toe with McCain on all issues and had no problem looking at McCain eye to eye. I felt Obama was well versed on all the issues. Great job Obama.

Anita Johnson at 11:18PM on Sep 26th 2008

4. McCain clearly won! He should win the presidency hands down!

joe at 11:25PM on Sep 26th 2008

5. The “chutzpah” of these republicans? McCain actually had the nerve of accusing Obama of not knowing the difference between strategy & tactic, and HE is the one that who got it backward!

The STRATEGY of going to Iraq was stupid. The TACTIC of increasing troop level (the surge) is useless & irrelevant. If we did not make a STRATEGIC error of going to Iraq, we would not be debating the TACTIC of getting out.
Get it? The big picture John, the big picture! Granted you have a small mind, but work with him, Obama that is.

Fierce at 11:36PM on Sep 26th 2008

6. I watch the debate and I have one thing to say John McCain are you serious? He miss the mark by a long shot almost like Cheney on his hunting trip.
Barack Obama,'08

Gail Biggers at 11:37PM on Sep 26th 2008

7. I thought Obama did very well in the debate. He also seemed knowledgeable on the issues in a much broader aspect than McCain, for example Obama mentioned to rid Afghanistan of the poppy fields, it has been a while since anyone has mentioned a war on drugs. I thought that was impressive.

Tracy at 11:44PM on Sep 26th 2008

8. Obama slayed McCain! Every attempt he made at twisting his words or adding words to his mouth were met with a verbal slashing. Obama held his own, looked McCain right in his eyes and told him, you are wrong, what you have supported in the past was wrong, and your plans for business as usual for the future of this country is wrong. Way To Go Obama!

Angel at 11:47PM on Sep 26th 2008

9. Obama was outstanding. Mccain appeared desperate and classless. He tried to play on the sympathy of the American public.

Bonita Britten at 12:46AM on Sep 27th 2008

10. I know Obama won the debate.

11. Obama won the debate

Barbara De Lucia at 2:48AM on Sep 27th 2008

12. I think that Obama definitely held his own and made some really good points. I also found it funny how Mccain for the entire debate never looked at Obama. It was very disrespectful and you could tell Obama was getting to him .
It's going to be interesting to see the V.P candidates debate in October.

Terrenie at 4:59AM on Sep 27th 2008

13. I thought it was good to see the two candidates close up. Before the debate, even though I love Obama and his wife, I was going to vote for McCain because I am a Christian. After the debate I have a different view about McCain;I was a disturbed by how condecending he was to Obama! McCain came off as an errogant white man trying to put a black boy in his place. I am seriously thinking of voting for Obama even though I don't agree with everything he says.

Charity at 6:09AM on Sep 27th 2008

14. Clearly, John McCain was disrespectful during the entire debate. He didn't have the decency to look Obama in the eye while addressing him. McCain came off a little arrogant and racist. McCain is definately from the dark ages as he referred to himself as a "maverick" Please....It's that type of George Bush mentality that has us in trouble with many other countries today. Vote for Obama!!!!

Tami at 6:51AM on Sep 27th 2008

15. I went to a debate party last night it was a room full of military vets. People were yelling at the TV screen. When McCain would say something vets would fill in the blanks. And most of the vets yelling at the TV were white.

Obama 2008.
