According to the Associated Press, former Olympic sprinter Marion Jones was released from prison today after serving a majority of her six month sentence for lying about her steroid use and a check fraud scam.

Jones left a San Antonio halfway house this morning and is probably on her to Austin where she has a home. According to LaTanya Robinson, a community corrections manager for the federal Bureau of Prisons, Jones will remain on probation.

In October, Jones admitted to using steroids between the dates of September 2000 and July 2001. Suspicions began when the founder of Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative (BALCO) was being investigated for selling steroids to athletes and naming Jones as one of his clients. Jones initially denied all the allegations, but finally admitted to using steroids and gave back the three gold medals and two bronze medals she won at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney while the International Olympic Committee officially wiped her name from the record books in December.

3. I'm so glad she's out. I really feel terrible that she went through all that. May she do great things going forward. It was just a moment in time, she did her time and now she can move forward.

7. Marion,
Welcome back! You're still a Hero in my book! I think you could have won the medals without the junk, but hell all athletes are guilty of some form of doping as far as i'm concerned. But they tried to make an example out of you. Go Figure! I love you and I think you're a beautiful and talented young lady with a whole lot more living to do.
A Dedicated Fan! Good Luck & all the best to you!!!

8. MARION, WE LIVE IN A,N UNFAIR,RACIAL AND PREJUDICE COUNTRY. SOME OF US ARE SINGLED OUT FOR PUNISHMENT ND REDICULER AND MORE SEVERE ACTIONS FOR OUR WRONG DOINGS BECAUSE OF THE COLOR OF OUR, SKIN. YOU DID WRONG, ADMITTED IT AN RECEIVED PUNISHMENT AND I DON'T HAVE PROBLEM WITH THAT BUT IT OFFENDS ME PERSONALLY WHEN YOU LOCK UP A GOOD DECENT MOTHER & WIFE FOR SUCH TRIVIAL OFFENSE THE SHAME OF LOSING YOUR METALS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH. BUT YET WITH ALL THE EVIDENCE AGANST ROGER CLEMENTS LYING BEHIND, HE IS STILL A FREE MAN BENG CELEBRATED AS A SPRTS HEROE,I FEEL THAT YOU WERE TREATED UNJUSTLY

9. Hi Marion...I hope the best for you. I hope you can take this life lesson and make something beautiful come out of it. I am sorry that you were used as an example. The jails are exploding with too many really horrible people. I could understand a fine, community service and the emotional losses you have already had to endure would be plenty. All things work together and perhaps you found yourself in a closer walk with the Lord due to what you went through. I have a friend who went to jail for drugs. She came out so much better. She came out a victorious Christian who very fortunately, had a wonderful, supportive family and church who loved on her a lot.

10. Dear Marion: Things do happen to all of us in life - whether in the legal or purely personal phases of our lives. PLEASE move forward in your life. Your talents will take you there. If you are shunned by society, and sometimes that happens when things go sour, it maybe a time to start your own business. Remember our own Vanessa Williams and how she rose to the top AGAIN! Go with God!

The Harveys at 10:22AM on Sep 6th 2008

11. Hopefully she learned from this lesson and will find the strength to return to the track clean and healthy and use her natural gifts.

12. Peace, Power & Blessings

You are still a star and will rise again. It is apparent that they wanted their 'pound of gold' from you. God knows you were under duress and pressured with facing a 10 year sentence on a check fraud charge. The way out they gave you was to admit to something that they could not prove.

It is also understood that your plea to lying about steroid use was the only way they would give you a deal to wash the 10 year possibility on the check fraud. It is a well known fact that defendants are allowed to plead to something they did not do in order for prosecutors to close failed investigations and in many cases to simply destroy an 'icon'. In America you are innocent until proven guilty. A plea under duress is not evidence of guilt. Stay strong and surround yourself with friends and advisors that have your best interests at heart.
