Baron Davis Throws His Support Behind Barack Obama

Posted Sep 3rd 2008 3:13PM by Quibian Salazar-Moreno
Filed under: Casually Obsessed, Sports

Back in the day, not too many athletes really shared their political views, thinking it would hurt sales of shoes or they would lose some of their fanbase. Nowadays, athletes aren't afraid to share their thoughts on the issues of today, ranging from the crisis in Darfur to the effects of Hurricane Katrina, they'll let it be known. They're even endorsing presidential candidates. LeBron threw money behind Barack Obama's campaign and now Baron Davis is announcing he has Barack's back as well.

"Hope ya'll watched Barack Obama's acceptance speech Thursday night. If he didn't move you maybe the sound was turned down. When it was over I felt like I was ready to go out to Venice Beach and start registering people to vote right then at 9pm. We've got to show up on Nov. 4th to vote this man into the White House!" Davis wrote on his blog. "His ideas about recharging our education system by investing in early education and raising teacher's salaries were seriously inspiring. I know he said he's gonna raise the taxes on the top income bracket, Gil (responding to a recent Gilbert Arenas post), but if he uses that money to improve our schools then you won't have to worry about some kids trying to sell pictures of your pool online cause they couldn't get a better job. But seriously, he made his case calm and cool and now it's up to us to listen and to act. He's not going to be able to do it on his own. We have to get out and vote on November 4th."

Davis also expressed how he's been trying to steer kids out of poverty and violence-filled lives through his organization TeamPlay and that the policies that Obama is proposing will help make his goal with kids easier.

2. A Black woman called the radio station and said she lives in Alaska and that Sarah refused to meet with the Black Caucus there. She said she had no room on her calendar to meet with "Special Interest Groups." So that's what Black people can expect from her if she gets in the White House.

5. Has anyone ever thought of the fact that there really is no need for wars. Here's some for all of you to think about. Why wars? Has there ever been a time when you had to be a man/women and apologize for something you did or didn't do? I like the fact that Barack is will to change things relating to wars and maybe other Coutries are too. Why can't we (USA) apologize right or wrong. Think on this. Name 5 countries that you always hear about being in wars. No ask yourselves this, why is it always the same Counrties, people, if you all will listen to Barack you could learn something. this man has a lot to say and has some great ideas, we need to stop thinking negative and think positive. Why are you so afraid of change? I really just don't get America!!!!

6.
DOES AMERICA KNOWS HOW CATASTROPHIC IT IS TO PUT OBAMA IN THE WHITE HOUSE? IT IS THE FAULT OF DNC, DEMOCRATIC PARTY, PELOSI, REID AND SOME SUPERDELEGATES THAT PICK OBAMA AS NOMINEE AMONG ALL QUALIFIED AND EXPERIENCE CANDIDATES THEY HAVE, THIS IS WHAT THEY CAN COME UP WITH BECAUSE HE BOUGHT THEM - SHAME.
WE HAVE A TEAM NOW THAT CAN BRING THE REAL CHANGE IN WASHINGTON AND THAT TEAM IS MCCAIN/PALIN. THEY HAVE SHOWN AMERICA WHAT THEY HAVE DONE AND ACCOMPLISHED AND WILL BE REALIABLE TO HANDLE THE WHITEHOUSE JOB, AND NOT TALK WITHOUT ACTION LIKE OBAMA.

MCCAIN/PALIN

8. I agree with milton no more wars. War was not the answer in the past and it sure isn't the answer for the future. all you doing is hurting America. Vote for someone that cares about not just the rich americans but the middle class and lower class. not someone that is going to pocket our money and continue to use us like they have for many many years. i haven't seen McCain step up as a man yet for us Americans. We need a Change America. Stop being afraid of Change. it's going to happen sooner or later. But We all got to vote for the one that cares Barack Obama.

9. is america out of their mind how can the rep. nominee and his supporters say his running mate has foreign experience because she live near to russia, so can i say because i get a ride in a car to work that i can drive the car even if i never sit in the driver seat or started one, or am i a mechanic because i drive a car. that is the same as george bush saying you dont have to be a scholar to be president and look he destroyed this country. are we more safe now than before 911 when every where we go we are afraid to say we americans because we may be killed or kidnap you must keep looking over your shoulders at everymove, we are even afraid to move freely here.if we are winning the war on terror and all our rights and freedom is gone then who are we fighting, are we sucicidal? may JAH BLESS US ALL

10. fOX tv IS REALLY AFTER oBAMA THE INTERVIEW THE OTHER DAY WAS VERY HARSH

steven kamau at 2:00PM on Sep 7th 2008

11. You all need to ask some questions concerning Obama, where is his birth certificate? Why try to hide the fact his Mother was white? Why after 20 years attending Wright's church suddenly isown him? Why? Because a lot ca,e out that we were not priviledged to know. A lot of questions concerning where is his money coming from? Perhaps we all know from the Muslims. Beware!!!!! God bless America again, please>

12. I think Rev. Wright needs to go and sit down, It's a desgrace that anytime a blackman is succeding in high places another black fool trys to put him down,he call he's self a man of God, no man of God do what he did to Obama,There is so much ignorant folks out there, that they rather live in hell with Bush and McCain, than to live in heaven with OBAMA AND BIDEN,Obama and Biden is the change for America, color does not matter, as Obama and Hillary said they're not do in this for them the're doing this for us, if you look at it Obama and Hillary is a lot better of than us, they're tired of watching the poor struggle the way we do, wild the rich don't give a damm if we live or die,McCain did not know that Sarah Pilan daugther was pregnant before he pick her for Vice president, he fine out later, but to look good in the camara he claims with he's lying self that he new about it, do you believe that, I don't.

Melva at 3:06PM on Sep 7th 2008

13. There is so much presure on Obama that some of you wouldn't believe. Do you realize that he is the first? If he screw this up it would make it hard on the next black man with the courage to run for office. Obama has the motivation and the intelligence to lead this coutry. It is not a game to him. We need to be more flexible to change. If you are flexible than you can not be broken. Mccain/Palin is not about change. They are conservatives wanting to conserve their way of life. It not about the working man to them. Its about the rich. Period.

temas2000 at 5:07PM on Sep 7th 2008

14. I want some one in office that can be diplomatic when it come to foreign leaders. Not some war mongering idiot sticking his chest out willing to risk our children lives over anything. Please do not fall for the scare tactics. The war was manufactured for a reason. It did not have to happen. Where are the weapons of mass destruction?

temas2000 at 5:18PM on Sep 7th 2008

15. Hey D.Pringle I and many other working people gave money for Obama to run. We the People want him to run.
