There is no another way to say it. F. Gary Gray, who made his bones with music videos and then bursting on the Hollywood scene with the gritty cult classic, 'Set It Off', which starred (Vivica A. Fox, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Kimberly Elise) is set to go back to the urban genre with an updated version on Julius Caesar.
Variety states that Mandalay Pictures has acquired bigscreen rights to the Oni Press graphic novel 'Julius', a contempo urban crime adaptation of William Shakespeare's 'Julius Caesar.' Gray is attached to direct the film.
The story was written by Antony Johnston and illustrated by Brett Weldele.
Gray's directing credits include 'The Italian Job' and 'The Negotiator.'

1. F.Gary Gray is a brilliant director. Every film I have scene of his, which are all of them, were very well done. I can not say that for some other directors who have more clout or even more experience. Each film gets better and better. I'm looking forward to seeing this film. I'd love to see Avery Brooks in the title role. Avery is one of our most brilliant actors, black or white. This new adaptation of Julius Caeser may call for a younger Julius. If not, Avery would be perfect. However with F. Gary at the helm, I feel that it will be an extraordinary film. so far the brotha is batting 1000.
