Morgan Freeman: Out, About & Feeling Good

Morgan Freeman
is one lucky man.

The Academy Award winner escaped the jaws of death earlier this week after a near fatal car accident.

Now he's facing a divorce from his longtime wife.

Today, the 71 –year-old actor was released from the Regional Medical Center in Memphis and he's in good spirits.

"I left the hospital today, just after 12 noon, Memphis time," Freeman, who is currently starring in the blockbuster 'Batman' movie 'The Dark Knight,' said in a brief statement.

"I'm doing very well. I feel real good.""It's great to know people care about you," he concluded.

Well-wishers abound – Freeman is mired in messy divorce scandal with his soon-to-be- ex-wife Myrna Colley-Lee (pictured right), whom tabloid media outlets revealed he has been separated from since last year.

His publicist Donna Lee confirmed that the couple (of 24 years) are in the midst of a divorce and had been estranged for some time.

According to the 'Associated Press,' police ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash and said it was possible Freeman had fallen asleep at the wheel when the car careened off the highway and rolled over several times.

The passenger -- and owner of the car Freeman was driving – was a female acquaintance identified as Demaris Meyer, was also injured, but no information has been released regarding her condition.

No other automobile was involved and no citation was issued in connection with the accident.

Freeman most recently appeared on Broadway in the Mike Nichols-directed play, 'The Country Girl.'

6. I am very glad that Mr. Freeman is doing well. He is a beautiful actor and he reminds me of my father. Howver, getting a divorce, 24 years is a long time and at this point in their lives they should have learned the art of working it out. I hope that they would reconsider they have put so many years in to their marriage. Best wishes to them.

8. My prayers are with you, and I hope that you will have a full recovery. My heart was saddend to find out that you are going through a divorce. It is the first institution that God established; however, if you have done all that you can do and it cannot be resolved, take it to the LORD in prayer.
Continue to take care of yourself, and remember that we as a community respected you and wish you many more health full future.
