Djimon Hounsou To Play Immortal Sorcerer Thulsa Doom On The Big Screen

Posted Jul 22nd 2008 10:45AM by Wilson Morales
Filed under: It's All Reel

Some time back it was reported around the 'net that Djimon Hounsou would be playing a comic book character and speculation grew that he would play The Black Panther that John Singleton wants to direct. After all, there are not that many black comic book characters outside of The Black Panther, Luke Cage, and the Green Arrow that many folks would be familiar. Well, as of recent, all of thoughts have been put to rest as Hounsou is set to play a character that you least expected.

According to Variety, Hounsou has partnered with Dynamite Entertainment to star in and produce a big screen feature about immortal sorcerer Thulsa Doom, a central figure in the Conan the Barbarian and Kull comic books.

The character will be featured in his own comic book series, published by Dynamite, an imprint of Dynamic Forces, next year.

He originally appeared in the Robert E. Howard pulp story 'Delcardes' Cat,' published in the 1930s.

Doom was portrayed by James Earl Jones in 1982's Conan the Barbarian.

The planned film will showcase the origins of the flawed hero and show how his road to hell was paved with good intentions.

1. It's Green Lantern you dummy. Not Green Arrow! Get you facts right. Green Arrow is a Caucasian character.

2. Haven't we seen enough evil black men portrayed on screen? Have we run out of evil white men?
I don't think so.
Djimon, you can do better.

3. Another man of color with a good job! You go Djimon!
As with any evil character, there will probably be at least one area of his life where Thulsa Doom is conflicted and must do the right thing. Djimon get to show his huge acting chops. Don't hate on the brother for taking the work. In Hollywood, you have to keep your face out there or you will soon be forgotten.

4. A thousand thank you's, once I worked out that the torrents file wasnt the bootable file itself and followed the process to download the actual bootable repair file, burned to a CD not a DVD ( wouldnt work off a DVD for me), eventually got my system to boot from the CD, selected repair my computer and all fixed within 15 minutes.DO NOT USE THE REINSTALATION DISC OR SIMILAR AS YOU WILL BE RECOMMENDED BT MANY SOURCES IT WILL WIPE ALL YOUR FILES AND INFO, THANKS TO THESE GUYS YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO THAT!!.Once again thank you thank you, over 400 gb of info and files would have needlessly been lost.
