Michelle Walks All Over GOP Targets

Posted Jul 18th 2008 12:00PM by Faye Anderson
Filed under: BlackSpin, Elections, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama

It is open season on Michelle Obama, the New Yorker's "Angry Black Woman" in combat boots.

A while back, the Tennessee Republican Party got all shook up when Michelle made a campaign appearance in Nashville. In advance of her campaign trip to Seattle, highlighted some bad apples in their welcome video.
Barack Obama has again asked folks to lay off his wife. In an interview with Glamour magazine, Obama said:
It's infuriating, but it's not surprising, because let's face it: What happened was that the conservative press-Fox News and the National Review and columnists of every ilk-went fairly deliberately at her in a pretty systematic way...and treated her as the candidate in a way that you just rarely see the Democrats try to do against Republicans. And I've said this before: I would never have my campaign engage in a concerted effort to make Cindy McCain an issue, and I would not expect the Democratic National Committee or people who were allied with me to do it. Because essentially, spouses are civilians. They didn't sign up for this.
Like it or not, Michelle is fair game. So she should put on some fashionable boots and borrow a phrase from Nancy Sinatra:
These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.
With Obama leading John McCain in the polls, on Jan. 20, 2009, Michelle might be able to say, "Are you ready boots? Start walking down Pennsylvania Avenue towards the White House."

1. Obama wants the BIG seat he better either put his wife in the closet or take it like a big boy.

2. What I see in this country is what's been seen for over 100 years. People are still thinking that black's should always be on the bottom of things. This situation would'nt of never acured if this was a white man running for office. What's wrong with America, why should one say he's proud to be an american and all the time he is still being looked at to come into the back door.I pray for this country.

5. There have been plenty of times that being an American falls very short of something to be proud of. Too many times racism has taken a very active part in the destroying of families, and communities. Those people who act as if america has been such a great country to people who are different in color, language, and culture need to read sometimes and stop being so stupid.

6. The dirty game of politics stinks to high heaven!

However, Michelle Obama shall continue to display an equal amount of grace, integredity and honnor, which her husband has endured from nummerous character attacks.... Michele Obama is an inspiration to me. Perhaps, she really isn't any different from many African American women. Michele is just like the girl next door with many hats, which I truly can relate with. Between raising her two daughters, balancing a career, and supporting her husband. Michele has proven to me one simple fact. Rather Obama becomes our next president or not, Michele Obama will always be a first class lady....

I expect the media to attack Michele Obama like a pit-bull.. Nevertheless, I trust Michele and Barack Obama to overcome all judgement with grace. I recently heard Obama say to the media: (I have learned to develop a thick skin during this election)...

Therefore I say to the media; "Bring it on!"

7. Faye, tell me, as a matter of how to get a journalistic "Black Spin",do you plant a hook as the first comment of the day for the start of a new week?

No other president of the US has had to "put his wife in a closet" and I suggest that Tired of Poor Me for that statement be fined with a compulsory viewing of the HBO series,John Adams, to get what it is all about.

Alas, I visited Tennessee for a short while and particularly noticed two things about it other than the place was hot as hell and you sweat just to start the day although it is a "dry-state" in which you have to belong to a privileged club in order to drink alcohol as a beverage. As a result, bootleggers regularly break the law and that has carried over into traffic in substance generally deemed causative of substance abuse. 1)the Klan was always in attendence when a good party was going on, indicating you had to have some doubts about the host of any social occasion. and 2)I never once saw a person of color in the Cumberland from after Easter/beginning of May until I was glad to get out of there in August.
Blacks simply do not exist in huge swathes of the back woods country (and the only reason that I can think of is it is too dangerous to do so in places where the most thankless whites get by economically in total ignorance; of course much of the Republican United States has played that class system for the opportunism of getting ahead for politicians only in two tiers or classes since the party is headed by that type in this administration which has remained in power for nearly forty years.

They will not be gone until we chastise them with a decent and Lawfully Inspired Black leader.

I'm only sorry my brother died in Nashville a few short years before the arrival of Michelle. He died a sudden death. I suggested to him while he was still alive that he head to the library over at Fisk and work from there

8. Ps. Did you realize that in the video supplied by the Republican Party that wants to welcome Michelle to Washington(?) that either the camera-person or the editor of the video clip did not realize that the flag is not displayed backwards with the field of stars on the right. The correct method of displaying your flag is with the blue field on the upper left.

9. Michelle is intelligent and smart. I believe in her inner strength. The political arena is not fair and is no place for sensitivity. She and Barack will survive the verbal spins, scrutiny, and outrageous characterizations. Inspite of everything, they continue to focus and move forward. They are two Americans who love this country and have so much to offer. I am so proud of them.

10. There is nothing wrong with what michelle said. Im tired of the media going after her. She seem like a wonderfull ,smart ,lady. How come our party don.t go after Cindy McCane, she was a drug addic which ,ok that i understand, but she was caught stealing drugs, and how abut a 750,000 monthly credit card bill. I know the lady is rich but how can a woman like that understand the plight of the average familys struggle.Im sorry, but if Barack wants to be Predident, he better get on the offensive, cause their going to pull a swift boat on him soon, about what, i don,t know, and then you have this country's racist issues, because you cant believe people in polls that say they are going to vote for Barack, and when they get in the booth , their going to say to themselves, im not voting for an african american. We live in a racist country, im a white guy and i see it everywhere, so in order for Barack to win , he has to be up in the polls by double digits, if it's close he will lose.Come on campaign, get started because time is running out. Good Luck

11. This is a country that allows free speech and Michelle Obama is entitiled to speak her piece just like the women in this video were allowed to speak their own minds. Each were correct! America is the greatest county in the world; but, it is far from perfect!!! Over the years American has done many things to its citizens it has no right to be proud of...those things should be acknowledged, discussed and improved upon. Thanks Michelle and Senator Obama for opening up the discussion we are currently having about loyalty to our county and race relations in our country. It has gone undressed way too long.

14. I wouldn't vote for McCain if he was the only one running!!!First, he is too old. Did any of you know that you cannot work for the Federal government if you are 65 years old, and here he is running to be in charge of the Fed. government. Second reason; he talks about talks about Sen. Obama not having the same values(as white america?) The Obamas appear to be more decent than the McCains. They want for their children what they want for every american in this country, including adults (A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE).
T ad
hird reason: He was chosen as a american hero because he was a prisoner of war. SO WHAT!!!There were many POWs and in my book they should all be called heroes and been accorded the same preferential
treatment that McCain was given. In case you have forgotten, other families of POWs had to pressure this government into searching for their missing loved ones. It was only after these families went public that this govenment showed some interest in searching for these heroes. Fourth reason: Cindy McCain only recently divested her business in Sudan because her husband is running for president. Otherwise, the McCain would still be profiting financially from child labor, child rapes and other unspeakable crimes against people in this region, while she spends hundreds of thousand of dollars monthly in an attempt to look good. What a waste of money, but it hers. She looks too controlled, like she is on medication, and is never seen at any function
drinking. Is she a recovering alcoholic as well. Last, but not least because I could go on and on, I just don't trust McCain. I listen to his speeches but I remain uncomfortable with what he says. He makes no sense at all sometimes. For instance, he publicly challenged Sen. Obama to go to Iraq. This past week Sen. Obama no only went to Iraq but extended his visit
to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Israel, Germany, France and England. This proved to be a mission that was truly a ACCOMPLISHED one! Because of the media coverage of this historic event, McCain babies are crying that he was not getting media attention, and as a Senator Mr. Obama should have stayed home and focused on the problems in this country and should not have traveled outside of the country. McCain himself has traveled to Mexico and Canada (which by the way are outside of this country) to make Bush's promise of a open border with Mexico which would include Canada, a reality.
The McCains do not share the values of the average american. How can they? They don;t have a clue as to what it is like to have to work every, worry where your next meal is coming from, worry and pray that they nor their children become ill because they don't have health care, worry about the rising cost of food and fuel to heat your home and gas for your car. And now seniors are once again faced with the worry that Social Security will be privatized. Our government is out of control and corrupt. Michele Obama is graceful, intelligent and warm and I believe will bring to the first lady to the White House what we have never had, a first lady who understands the struggles of everyday people because she and her husband have been there.
