"Braid Out" Hair Styling Tutorial

Posted Jul 7th 2008 10:31PM by Gennifer Miller
Filed under: Hair Apparent, Lifestyle

Hi everyone! Here is a video tutorial on a simple braid out. I made small single braids and let them dry over night. There are two parts to the tutorial. I hope this is helpful!

3. This is a great tutorial. I've never tried the braid-out look but have always wanted to do so. I feel well-equipped try after watching this tutorial. Thanks...

4. Thanks for the instructions. However, there is a healthier way to detangle your hair. You always want to start from the bottom of your hair not the top. This will prevent breakage and eases the tension and stress from pulling the comb through. Detangle from the bottom and work your way up to the top.

Trust me it's better :)

6. This is a very well done tutorial. and for ladies with shorter length hair you can braid hair and use perm rods this give the effect of texturized hair with using any chemicals, this style will last for about a week good luck

7. Thank you for showing some of us an easy way to do our hair no offence but I've been doing that for years when I take my braids out my hair does that automatically but it's true all you need is some conditioner on your hair and braid it up also the smaller the braid the tighter the curl

10. The video was great and the style was sassy. I too usually do this when I take out micros or braided styles, but this shows me how to get that look on a more regular basis. I don't wear my hair natural; however for me, the braid out works well for my type of hair as well.

11. thank you very much for the tutorial, but I have been wearing this style since I was 15..lol..now I am 26. But I do agree with #4 Kimberly you should always start from the ends of the hair when combing it and move upwards. Also apply conditioner that is nongreasy, light, and has vitamins A & E to protect the hair from the sun rays and other pollutants..also drink plenty of water ladies and eat your fruits and veggies. What you put in your body does greatly affect the condition of your hair not to mention our beautiful skin.

12. To #4 and #10, yep, you should comb from the bottom. It was just a misstep I made in this video. I have talked about proper combing (starting from the bottom up) in my other you tube videos.

To #10, Im sure plenty of people having been doing this style for decades. I never said I invented it, just wanted to do a tutorial for people who've never done a braid out.

13. Where are you people from? This is one of the oldest tricks for black hair in the book. Is this for those black girls who grew up in the suburbs and have always had the money for a touch-up and never needed to improvise? I thought this was a terrible video, especially when she starts braiding her hair. What black girl in america can't braid hair. WTF??!!

shaneece at 12:27PM on Jul 13th 2008

14. This technique has been around for a VERY long time. I'm a 42 year old woman, and yes this is what I did when, as a teenager, my mother didn't have the money to have my roots touched up. I can remember my brother teasing me after taking the braids out - he called me the cowardly lion.

15. This is a GREAT tutorial. Thanks for ALL you do....keep vids comin. :)
