LeBron James Goes Green for the Children

Posted Jul 1st 2008 4:31PM by Quibian Salazar-Moreno
Filed under: Casually Obsessed

LeBron James has teamed up with Nickelodeon to help promote their Big Green Help campaign. King James will be the star of LeBron James: Worldwide Big Green Bike-a-Thon, a mini-game featured on http://www.biggreenhelp.com. Players are asked to help a bike-riding LeBron avatar deliver green tips across the globe to rack up points and progress to the next level of play.

"We all need to be aware of how to take care of the environment," James said. "I'm glad that I can show kids what they can do to help."

According to Nickelodeon, James will also appear in a The Big Green Help public service announcement (PSA) airing throughout the summer. Designed to empower kids to take action on the environment, Nickelodeon's The Big Green Help multiplatform campaign provides information and tools to help explain climate change to kids, and connect them to energy saving and earth-friendly activities in their everyday lives.

1. Green is not about taking money to appear in campaigns to keep up the public image you are trying to convey.

if leBron really wanted to make a difference he can start by getting rid of those suvs he drives that leave a huge carbon footprint. how about preaching THAT to kids. leBron, put YOUR money where you mouth is instead of being a mouthpiece for your wallet!

2. I agree with the comments on walking the walk. I drive a Hybrid SUV, I live in a fairly metropolitan area (Southeastern, VA) and I have not seen another sister or brother driving a Hybrid of any kind on these streets. Why is that? We certainly spend enough of our disposable income on vehicles, why not be a little smarter and put it into something that not only gets better gas mileage, but also preserves the environment for future generations? When will we wake up....

3. LEAVE LEBRON ALONE. HE'S FAR TOO YOUNG TO KNOW ABOUT THIS WORLD THAT HAS BEEN MESSED UP FAR BEFORE HE WAS A GLEAM IN HIS DADDY'S EYE.

5. ms g just wondering if you have seen Lebron driving a SUV. You do not know what he has done since he has been involved in going green. So Please Be Quiet on something you don't know.
