Shaq loses another badge, Kobe won't respond

Posted Jun 30th 2008 3:50PM by Quibian Salazar-Moreno
Filed under: Casually Obsessed

Last week's sports highlight was from a New York nightclub featuring Shaquille O'Neal ripping into Kobe Bryant in a freestyle rap that got cheers from the crowd. But Shaq hasn't been getting many cheers beyond that. An Arizona sheriff already asked for Shaq's honorary deputy badges back from him, now Virginia's Bedford County sheriff Mike Brown is asking for their department's badge back. Shaq was given the badge after his work with the Virginia county's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Brown also told the Associated Press that Shaq's likeness also will no longer be used to promote Operation Blue Ridge Thunder, a unit of the department that O'Neal worked with in investigating Internet predators. As far as Shaq's rap target, he's not talking. When L.A. Times reporter Jonathan Abrams asked Kobe how he took Shaq's jarbs during a USA Olympic Basketball team practice, Kobe said:

"I didn't take it any kind of way whatsoever."

Then he said he won't be answering anymore questions about Shaq and his raps. Guess we won't hear Kobe grab the mic anytime soon to spit a freestyle rap of his own.

2. Yet another fine example of what NOT to do when you think your own pile doesn't stink. C'mon, guys (and ladies) you are our leaders by virtue of your status in this race. Learn to handle your fame positively and our young ones will see how we are portrayed positively.

3. Shaq, please, grow up!!

5. That's right KOBE, don't even comment, just move on , I knew you were a bigger man about this mess, just leave it and move on. Focus on your game. Have a good summer.

8. Anyone that listens to the news or the sports comentators that interview shaq should know that shaq is just a big kid at times. He jokes a lot just like normal people. But of course you know that some people that just don't understand humor will take things and just run with it. This is no shock to me that they took away his badge for something so childish, if they could they would have taken away all of his acompishments in life. Shaq please don't let these kind hearted people that love us all so much even get any satisfaction from this, just do what my son says and keep it pushin.By the way im doing gang intervention in los Angeles calif your old stepping grounds. I would love to give you a nicer badge than any indian giver. Hey i would love to have you on my team. I miss ya anyway. rbaileysstorm@aol.com. Holla at ya girl.

9. I knew it would'nt been long b4 Shaq started his hater game, that's one of the reasons that the Laker's traded his ass. He's old and his game is gone. Kobe is a great young man, concentrading on his family and career. I'm glad he did not comment on Shaq's tacky ass rap. Grow up Shaq u suppose to be setting an example for your kids. I hope Phoenix trade your washed up ass, u really hurted their game, slowed them down to an half court, turtle moving team. (RETIRED ALREADY) your threw. I know u wished that u could have had half the talent that Kobe has. Oh, I not saying that u did'nt have game but, it's over. Kobe stay strong, keep up the great work, and paid them HATER NO ATTENTION----

10. KOBE IS A GOOD BALL PLAYER, BUT A BUSTER. EVERYONE WAS HATING ON HIM ABOUT 4-5 YEARS AGO AND HE IS JUST GETTING HIS ENDORSEMENTS BACK; LEST WE FORGET THAT. ALL OF YOU STOP FLIP FLOPPING. SHAQ CHILLED WHEN HE WAS THE OFFENDED, SO KOBE IS DOING NOTHING SPECIAL; JUST THE SAME.

TORIE at 12:00AM on Jul 2nd 2008

11. That was a rather chidish thing Shaq did no doubt and I am sure he felt it right after he said it. But once you put it out there, there it is. It was a mistake and it to will pass. It would have been nice to see him and Kobe come together as friends so we could all focus on what they both did for the game, and enough time had set in between Kobe's blunder for that to happen. Now we are back to squar one. Sad!

12. May we please not be too quick to judge. It's all mediocre and trivial. It was a poor choice of Shaq to vent in the manner that he did but, let's not continue to add fuel to a fire that shouldn't be burning in the first place. We as a people have come a long way and some of us are still finding our way through. (In order to bake a cake an egg or two must be broken)These are the personalities that we elect to support to continue to pave the way. We didn't ask if they were perfect and without fault so, let's not judge them as such. They are growing just like all of us with the acception being: they are under a constant microscope and held to a higher level of accountability. I believe that we should take a page out of our own book and do what we ask of them .... (GROW UP)!

Lamar at 8:26AM on Jul 2nd 2008

13. Shaq and Kobe the media bounced on that as well as the LaCrosse team scandal but, don't want no part of it in Ohio where the prosecuter filed a false statement and is now a judge. Shaq and Kobe, wow Kobe wife stuck with so why didn't Shaq by his wife a ring like Kobe did. Who got the moves?

Mr.Carl W. Whitmore at 8:41AM on Jul 2nd 2008

14. Very immature remarks by Shaq under any circumstance. Thanks Kobe for taking the high road on this matter.

fred at 9:42AM on Jul 2nd 2008

15. Well shaq made a big mistake doing what he did was very stupid and childest. Sorry he losed all his badges. I guess he might have mess up his law enforcement changes. He really is a nice man but he is silly.
