Darius McCrary: For The Love Of Superhead

Posted Jun 9th 2008 9:09PM by Karu F. Daniels
Filed under: Entertainment Newswire

By Karu F. Daniels, BlackVoices.com

Something is rotten in the cotton when it comes to the hot mess of a story that has had the blogosphere in a frenzy since late last week.

At the center of the sordid drama is Karrine Steffans; the self-proclaimed video vixen who became a best-selling literary sensation with her explosive tome 'Confessions of a Video Vixen' -- which detailed her numerous trysts with some of the biggest names in hip-hop and Black Hollywood.

The woman who will always be known as "Superhead" – a nickname thuggish ruggish rappers appointed her for her insatiable fellatio skills – filed a police report claiming that her current boyfriend, actor Darius McCrary, attempted to run her over with his car on June 5 near Universal Studios.

Before the police report became public, Steffans sent a frantic text message to gossip blogger Perez Hilton in the wee hours of the morning:

"It's Karrine. U have to help me. My boyfriend just tried to run over me with his car. [I] Just made a police report. In August, he placed me in a choke hold at a strip club on my birthday. There's a report and photos of that. There was another choking I never reported but is now being investigated. I lied to the city attny to save his ass but I'm DONE. He'll kill me if I go on with this. YES...Eddie Winslow from Family Matters! I have to give you this story. Pls!"

According to 'TMZ.com,' Steffans says the incident took place after she kicked the former 'Family Matters' star out for not pulling his weight around the house. Her 10-year-old son Naiim then "had an emotional breakdown" after not seeing McCrary for several days, so Steffans says she went to find her ex -- to talk.

She then claimed he was calm at first, but then became irate, getting into his car on the corner of Barham and Cahuenga, backing towards her and hitting her. McCrary then sped off, running over her foot, she says. She filed a police report hours later, and says she's in the process of obtaining a restraining order.

McCrary says otherwise.

"The allegations are not true," he said, adding, "Because I have been ignoring her pursuits, I feel that she is reacting immaturely and unjust."

"When I broke it off with her, I tried to maintain a friendship with her out of concern for her son," he continued. "A restraining order has been filed to ensure that Ms. Steffans does not continue to show up at my place of business or work, stalk or follow me, and damage any more of my personal property – as well as restrict her from accessing my voice mail and e-mails. "

Whoa.

"As evident in 'Confessions of a Video Vixen' and 'The Vixen Diaries' books, author Karrine Steffans is extremely talented in manipulating the truth and capitalizing at the expense of others," McCrary added. "Against my better judgment and at the advice of other notable public figures, I, too, regret getting involved with Ms. Steffans."

The couple was featured on the cover of 'Sister 2 Sister' magazine's December 2007 edition, in which McCrary told its publisher Jamie Foster Brown that he "had been kinda caught up in Karrine's web, and I'd been at her house for the past three months.."

"I believe that this is a difficult time for Darius," Brown told BlackVoices.com. "He indicated to me previously that his relationship with Karrine was a tumultuous affair, but that he did really love her and her son. It appears that in this case there are two explosive personalities working. I really hope that in the end, there is a reasonable explanation for all of this."

"From what I hear," she continued, "Darius recently missed a very important meeting for a film. This is crazy behavior for him. He's about business. After all, he has been in the business long enough to know how to play the game and if he's missing meetings, this cannot be a good thing. In spite of everything, I really do wish these young folks a better life."

Meanwhile, Norwood Young took a less diplomatic approach to the drama.

As a matter of fact, the former Pieces of A Dream front-man-turned-reality TV sensation let it rip when addressing the issue to BlackVoices.com

"As most people know, Darius is like a brother to me and we have been friends for many, many years," he explained.

"It saddens me to see that someone with such talent and an extremely bright future, is allowing a woman who self admittedly has extreme psychological issues and no talent whatsoever (with the exception of her oral prowess) ruin his life by ways of her deception and deceit," he added.

"By no means am I insinuating that Darius is an angel," Young noted. "He has his share of demons as well. However, his demons are personal, and he never intentionally sets out to harm people or destroy lives as any cost."

"I did not find it strange at all that Karrine called a member of the press (Perez Hilton) to leak this latest tale of abuse and drama," he continued. "Perez is one of a few members of the tabloid press she can call at any moment to leak a story (true or not). I now personally recall various times of which Karrine needed to be in the press for sheer attention sake, and she would make up a story, call her various "tabloid" reporter friends to give her press."

"She is addicted to attention and to the idea of being famous," he added. "It seems to me the last thing a person would want is the tabloids in their life exploiting something supposedly so tragic."

"What is hilariously sad, is that is who she ran to, to tell , "leak" her own tragic tale. I will say that she accomplished her mission and received all the press and sympathy she wanted ... Karrine is doing her best to sabotage and ruin Darius' career and life."

"It's a sad day in America, when such a dark sick woman can manipulate the lives of so many people, and we honor her foolishness by reading it, watching it and talking about it," he said, adding, "My grandmother always said, "If it don't come out in the wash, it's gonna come out in the rinse! Ms. Steffans' rinse cycle is about to start!"

When BlackVoices.com tried to contact Steffans for an on-the-record interview, she referred us to the 'TMZ.com' reportage, via email, and then went on to say that she couldn't "talk no more [because of] safety issues. I'm leaving town right now."

McCrary, who has just been cast in the sequel to 'The Transformers,' concluded: "I feel extremely sad for her and even sadder for her son. I look forward to putting this incident behind me."

3. Amen MS. Kelley I agree 100 percent. How very sad that a grown woman with a child has nothing better to do then create drama instead of raising her child

jcqjmc at 1:38AM on Jun 10th 2008

4. My question is why on God green earth would he fall in love with someone like her??,she's a straight up hoe and I'm being nice!,with her rep why would he really take her serious??,if anything she's just a hit and run!

daddy rich at 1:50AM on Jun 10th 2008

5. Karrine reminds me so much of my last husband (atleast Mr. McCrary saw it comming before I did ..she is a complete sociopath...pathological liar, dreamer who is delusional..always blaming her faults on others, irresponsible (if she was responsible, she would have be a better parent rather than relying on someone to raise her child for her while she resorts to childishness)...insecure and therefore, easily threatened should another woman walk in the room. That is why she went off the hinges on him..she knew her time had come to an end.
How she ever going to keep a man, let alone husband material with all the phychological issues running amock in her?
She needs to get it together and become more rational before she truly meets "a nut" who will take absolute pleasure in making sure that she doesn't see another day. A woman can only push a man so far.

6. Ok so the world knows that karrine is nuts, but umm Darius was with this nut for 3 months. What does this speak about his mental status? I mean really, this nasty chicken head is a walking hiv virus waiting to happen and because she gives great head there is a line of men that want to date her? Something is not only wrong with this skeezer but with the low life men that bed her. Selah

8. I cant' understand, "Why do men fall for her and know what she is about"? All the men in her life knows she's CRAZY! I feel sorry for her son, going through this emotional breakdown? I guess any child would, if they see mommy with A LOT of men in and out of her life for the WRONG REASONS and the child getting attached to that person? Not a "STABLE SAFE ENVIROMENT" raising a child just for your SEXUAL NEEDS! Not a GOOD MOTHER AT ALL! SHE IS NO GOOD ROLE MODEL TO HER SON! If she wants to live this life style, she should let somebody else raise her son! She's a CRAZY AZZ WOMEN and men shouldn't give her THE TIME OF DAY and media shouldn't give her the ATTENTION! All I can say is that she's "DISGUISTING"!

9. I am fimilar with some of Darius's family from growing up with them. They are all respectable and maintain a tight family bond. I pray that Darius is able to get away from this craziness. As for Karrine, I pray that she finds piece of mind, and a sense of self respect and well being. I've always thought that a woman who would tell the world of her personal escapandes, was a woman who is deperate for attention. It's truly a sickness. She is a person who requires attention at any cost. Whether it's positive or negative. I also pray that her son finds some type of way to not be affected by all of this. I mean it has to be bad to have school kids know that your mom is famous for giving head. And, that she'll brag about it. Someone needs to pull her aside and really talk to Karrine. Where's Oprah when you need her to talk some sense into young, black women? Lol

10. Anything to sell books and wasn't she on the cover of Sister 2 Sister not even 6 months ago, engaged to another dude? Darius is fine and other than that, he is fine and can sang. Remember that episode when he sang with Tracie Spencer? Anyway, she needs to get off her butt (or knees, whatever comes first) and raise her child and put her child and herself first instead of creating drama by texting the drama queen himself, Perez. In the immortal words of Dave Hollister: I got baby mama drama, enough to make you wanna scream and holler.

jclark23323@gmail.com at 12:35PM on Jun 10th 2008

11. This is so sad. Karrine is a woman proud to acknowledge her bedroom skills publicly and in a book, no less, without the slightest ounce of self respect. She is certainly one to be pitied just on that info alone...what did Darius believe would come of a relationship w/someone who wasn't even smart enough to keep her mouth shut? It's not hard to believe that she may very well suffer from mental illness but what is his excuse?

DarkNLovely at 2:22PM on Jun 10th 2008

12. That's what Eddie Winslow gets for trying to make a wife out of a glorified groupie and porn star. Dude fell in love with a woman who everyone from Mr. Marcus to Twista to Bill Maher has entered into from at least two openings. Not to say that a person can't change, but she wrote a damn book about all the head and tail she gave away through the years. That's not a sign of reformation... it's either bragging or making a buck. She's fine and all, but her beauty and 'knob' skills can't be worth all of this Eddie... is it?

D.Dark at 3:55PM on Jun 10th 2008

13. I'm confused. Isn't that typical behavior in "that" world?

Jerry at 8:19PM on Jun 10th 2008

14. Goes back to the old saying "You can't turn a hoe into a housewife."
Her main focus now should be to raise her son. If he does not already, he is going to have issues with women when he grows up, and all because his mother refused to be a mother, but instead chose to be a media whore instead.
She has to do something to keep herself in the spotlight. She has no talent...oh yeah besides her blow job abilities. Another sad case of a misguided black female.

Stayc at 8:34PM on Jun 10th 2008

15. This was strange to read. I heard years ago that not only was he gay, but he often hung out with his gay friends with regularity. Who's zooming who?
