Sistas Recreate Sex & The City

Kiki (2nd left) and her girls doing it SATC style

The highly anticipated Sex & The City movie came out last weekend nationwide. SATC fans helped make it number one at the box office. (Are you surprised?) Countless women got together like the movie's Fabulous Foursome to chat, cry, laugh and learn and made sure they looked absolutely fab while doing so. A few of them shared what their night was like and some of them were so cute I just had to share. If you haven't caught the movie yet, then take notes from these real-life Girlfriends: get inspired, get tipsy, give back in some way and most importantly strut your swagger SATC style.

We went to the movie, then Blue Water Grill. My girl Michelle Huff (1st right) ended up being pulled away by Ashanti for an event (she's Ashanti's publicist). Then we went to someone from the BET Network's birthday party at 230 5th Rooftop, where Marc Jacobs threw a party during New York fashion Week this past February. We ended up stopping by another rooftop party and getting into deep relationship and life discussions, got drunk and never left there! We were also invited to go to Room Service, (where Diddy was accused of beating a guy up over some woman). But we ended up drunk and worn out from all the movie crying and life talk so we took it to the crib. The girls who ended up going with me (2nd left) with my Jamaican tan was Sandeye Lomax, Debbie Astrate, Eunice Liriano, and Beny Ashburn (3rd left). -Kiki CEO, Design Kitties

I bought the tickets weeks ago because shows were selling out. There are four of us (I'm Miranda, in case you're wondering). One girlfriend flew in from DC. We got pretty dressed up, I did have the Stella McCartneys on (left) for this one! We went to Inoteca restaurant in the West Village where we surprised one of my girlfriends (the "Carrie" in our group) with a surprise birthday dinner. About 10 of met us there. It was quite fabulous.

My friends and I went to see an early show and then to a friend's house to do a clothing swap. Using "Diva Bucks" we swapped gently worn clothes while sipping Carrietini's.

My girlfirends and I planned a month in an advance to don up and do drinks as our SATC idols as stylish New Yorkers in our circle do. Twenty 'brown beauties' took in the highly anticipated chick flick and we LOVED it - we were able to relate to these women through shared experiences of romantic trials and fashion aspiration. After the movie, we night capped at Dream Hotel's roof deck with cosmos, martinis, chit chat of outfits in the movie likes and dislikes and answers to "what would you do" in situations re: Steve's infidelity, forgiving Big, Samantha's liberation, pairing a birdfeathered hat with a couture wedding gown, a man proposing sans ring, instead with a pair of diamond detail shoes you own that he didnt pay for, etc. Our outing was not only fashionable but charitable - the group organizer had a mini raffle for the SATC series DVD collection with all the monies donated to Feed the Lambs outreach for children in South Africa.

We're going this week because we're waiting on some friends to come in from out of town and dressing up as our favorite character. I will be Samantha (smile.) It will be VERY over-the-top. All I keep hearing about is Manolos and Jimmy Choos. We're going to have dinner after the movie, maybe the Bryant Park Hotel where the film was shot but definitely sipping Cosmopolitans before the movie!- Liris Crosse, Wilhemina model/actress

6. Sista's do not need to "recreate Sex and the City". Much of the sex in the city has already been created by Sista's when you consider the numbers of unwed child births, abortions, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS, depression, etc., that black women lead among the races in America. What Sista's need is to "recreate" God in the City, God in the Home, and God in the heart. Then, sex will be recreated in the beautiful, sacred, way that God designed in marriage between a man and a woman in a covenant relationship between God, the man and the woman. Neither man nor woman can ever improve upon God's design for human relationships.

8. this is good ..for black women..sex in the city is targeted towards the lily whiteness of course but hey if we as black women took a public approach to our lives the way white women make movies about every little friggin issue ,then maybe we could enterprise on our pain an triumphs as well..we need to do that and make that money for the fam!!
