You've Been Spotted: Sunglasses

Posted May 22nd 2008 9:53PM by Esther Dixon

"Dark glasses are like portable eye shadow and the world looks more beautiful through tinted glasses. Everybody looks 10 years younger, that is why I wear dark glasses always." Karl Lagerfeld.

The weather in New York City has been quite dreadful for this style spotter. I must admit, rainy days, cloudy skies and harsh winds have made my fashion choices somewhat dreadful. So what does a stylish sunny - weather girl like moi do? We board a quick flight to the land of sunshine... Miami, Baby!

Miami is a wonderful, popular destination for us east coasters who crave heat, beach, pool, and frozen margaritas in between, of course! Since the weather in Miami is as gorgeous as a new floral Giant Brief, Balenciaga bag, it lends one self to throw on a cute sundress or a pair of comfortable khakis and a t-shirt. But one fashion staple I found the fab, South Beach crowd could not live with out was a pair of stylish shades. Today's You've Been Spotted blog is all about the tinted lens. My shades papi! Check out a couple of ladies cooling in The Beach with an oh so fresh pair.

Try coordinating your accessories with your shades like the young lady on the right.

Big, bold accessories paired with even bigger shades create fabulosity*.

* Word trademark by Kimora Lee Simmons only use in case of freshness.

Here are a few of my fashion forward picks:

Rhianna was recently seen wearing this chic pair of Chanel shades. .

This lovely Fendi sunglasses is themed from the Fendi "FS 445" purse and has a leather section of the temple similar to the straps on the bag.

Going incognito? Rock Tom Ford's "Claudia" sunglasses.

1. This "big" sunglasses trend has been strong for a couple of years now and it looks like it is not going away as all the celebs are still wearing them.

2. I like the Fendi and the Chanel shades pictured above. The two glasses look "Sophisticated". I just don't like the BIG sunglasses on people. It looks awful. They need to get rid of them for good!

3. I say the bigger the better. I love the big sunglasses!!! It's a must have accessory for me!
