Today's Racist Jerk Award Goes To ...

Posted May 15th 2008 4:00PM by Madison J. Gray
Filed under: BlackSpin, Elections, Barack Obama

... Mr. Mike Norman, a Marietta, Ga., bar owner who is selling t-shirts with "Obama '08" printed on the front -- along with a cartoon monkey eating a banana.

Norman says he printed and started selling the t-shirts because he thinks Obama looks like the character Curious George. But we all know the real reason, and he thinks he's being funny. Well of course, Mr. Obama Monkey T-Shirt Maker's attracted all kinds of negative attention to himself, and it's well deserved. ...

Anyway, who is he to talk? If you look at him, he looks like one of the albino monkeys from the original "Planet of the Apes."

This probably won't be the last shot taken at Obama as he gets closer to the Democratic Nomination, and the 2008 election.

Besides, Obama doesn't look like Curious George. He really does look like Fred Armisen from "Saturday Night Live."

Obama: Political and Chic

Unlike the promo tees of other candidates, Obama items are very popular. Halle Berry greeted the paparazzi in this sporty shirt to display her support of Barack. (Photo: E.L. Woody King Paparazzi, Splash News)

Artist Van Monroe has created these incredible Obama Sneakers as a custom design. They are a limited edition -- there will only be 50 pairs. (Photo: Van Monroe)

If you love Obama, and you love fashion, these shoes are definitely for you. Change anyone? (Photo: Van Monroe)

Van just sent the original pair to Obama himself on March fifth of this year. Celeb clients for other Van Monroe designs include rapper Slim Thug. (Photo: Van Monroe)

This version of the sneakers are $225 pair. Another version with less detail, "but equal effectiveness" according to Van, go for $125. A portion of the proceeds for the sale of these sneakers will go to the Obama campaign. (Photo: Van Monroe)

Van says: "I have received orders from Los Angeles to the Middle East to Australia" for the shoes. A must for any serious Obama supporter! (Photo: Van Monroe)

If hoodies and tees are key to your fashion sense, the brother-sister team at Barackawear have the looks for you. Lorielle and Brandon Broussard wereinspired to create their line after seeing Obama speak at a rally in Austin. About working with her brother, Lorielle says: "We can always be honest with each other and we most definitely have a lot of the same goals for our company." (Photo: Barackawear,Inc.)

A stylist to Ciara, Lorielle recommends: "Rock your Barack the Vote tee or hoodie at at rally or in a voting booth. ;-) I like to wear mine with my favorite pair of jeans and either some fresh sneakers or some heels, for when I'm out and about." (Photo: Brandon Broussard, Barackawear, Inc.)

Yes We Can -- be stylish and political! Look out for Barackawear baby clothes for the precocious infant. The team also plans to produce a line of denim in the next month. (Photo: Brandon Broussard, Barackawear, Inc.)

This fly gear has been worn by celebrities such as Tyler Perry, Hill Harper and blogger Perez Hilton. Both siblings believe in Barack's leadership and it shows in their brand. (Photo: Brandon Broussard, Barackawear, Inc.)

2. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THIS BIGOT LOVES ATTENTION AND WE THE PEOPLE SHOULDN'T EVEN WASTE OUR TIME GIVING IT TO HIM, THE SAYING GOES EVERY DOG HAS HIS DAY AND HIS TIME WILL COME.

LORRAINE at 4:58PM on May 15th 2008

3. So the next time I go off on these pigs, I don't want to hear from the hairy assed big mouth burly berthas looking to kiss white ass.

Elmo Jones at 5:00PM on May 15th 2008

6. That's very disrespectful especially towards someone that could be our next President, if that was a black person that did that we would of been arrested or who knows' what now a days!!!!!! I think those shirts should be banned.

8. You know what.....people are allowed to sell and make whatever they want. If you want to put a cracker on a shirt with a white person underneath...go right ahead...it will not offend me. Just like it won't offend most white people, plus we can not cry out racisim like you do, because no one will do anything about it. I have a stronger backbone than that, I am a strong person to realize that it will not offend me.
I have been on this "black voice" page almost all day, just reading the posts and the blogs, and the black people that are on here are more racist that I ever thought. Some of the stuff that is said on here is ridiculous. But, you know what....I did not reply to any of it, I just let it roll off my back. I am not going to let anyone get the best of me, and I will be a bigger person than any of you for doing it. Why would I want to put myself down to your level. The blacks on here are the most racist people, and then you talk about whites being racist....what a joke!!!! If this guy wants to sell shirts, so be it....it is his right and privledge as an American citizen to do so. Just like it is yours too.....

T at 6:17PM on May 15th 2008

9. WE HAVE PEOPLE SAYING ALL NASTY THINGS ABOUT OUR PRESENT PRESIDENT AND NOBODY SAYS A THING, BUT SAY OR MAKE A FUNNY SHIRT ABOUT WING NUT EARS OBAMA MOMA AND THE REAL RACIST COME OUT SCREAMING.TALK ABOUT RACIST YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING

ROGER WWALKER at 6:58PM on May 15th 2008

10. I would like to see a white person wear this " T " shirt out in public, and watch them get the living dog crap beat out of them..Just joking, but really just a five finger slap across the face with my black hand print showing on their face for life...ha ha ha...

D.DOGG#24 at 7:26PM on May 15th 2008

11. "T" and Roger WWalker, shut the f up. If you don't like what you read, DON'T COME ON HERE! Just like this moron had the right to print that shirt (which, by the way, I hope he got PERMISSION to use the Gorgeous George image, black people have the right to put white people on blast. Due to hundreds of years of racist whites terrorizing not only blacks (read your history books), but Native Americans, the Chinese (remember concentration camps?) and every other race that didn't resemble them, you have the audacity to say blacks are more racist than whites? If we are, we learned it from whites like this uneducated hick from Georgia. Get over it, okay. No one can ever, ever can be more racist than whites so stop the whining.

Sheesh at 9:37PM on May 15th 2008

12. To ROGER WWALKER, T,and Andy (white boy) all of you have your nerve calling BV a RACIST BLOG! I guess all of you got tired of AOL, AOL NEWS, and AOL POLITICS, and thought BV was more INTERESTING TO READ AND MAKE COMMENT TOO, HUGH! Every time I try to go on any of those sites, the majority are RACIST and say INNAPROPRIATE, OFFENSIVE, RACIST COMMENTS ALL THE TIME! I hardly ever see anybody REMOVED AND BANNED!
BV is for EVERYBODY but, it's people like you that RUIN a GOOD FORUM! You all see what you want to
see! RACISM comes in different SIZES, SHAPES, AND FORMS and still EXIST! That T-Shirt is one of them!

People like you are IGNORANT and CAN'T HELP THEMSELVES! WE AREN'T GOING TO STOOP TO YOUR LEVEL OF IGNORANCE! IF IT OFFENDED US, IT DID! WHO ARE YOU TO TELL US WHAT IT'S SUPPOSE TO BE, HOW WE THINK, HOW WE ARE WRONG, AND SO FORTH! YOU ALL NEED PRAYER AND JESUS, MOVE ON AND GET OF THE BLOGS!

"Ms. Tell It Like It IZ" at 10:23PM on May 15th 2008

13. see america is whacked.. now why did this fool deserve attention.. u only mad the situation worst.. a racist comment.. and america publishes it online..

yeah.. mike norman.. u would probably run like a little scared dog.. if a black person said boo to you..

ur an azz.. racism is for ignorant people with little education.. besides.. u made black people what they are.. yall dumb azzes gave black people books.. the last thing u needed to do ..was to teach us how to read..

but watch.. the world is changing.. you whites.. have become obsolete.. and the blacks.. have became.. more eduated..

racism is old.. is that all u have to talk about.. get a grip white america.. the time has come.....................

we have prevailed................and u just cant stand it

laurag08021 at 6:58AM on May 16th 2008

14. First of all....there you go again blaming everyone (especially the white community) for your problems again...like usual.
D.Dogg.....If anyone, I don't care what color they are, comes up and slaps me because I am wearing something they don't like, they will have a fight on their hands....no one is going to tell me what I can and can not wear.
I could really careless who and who hasn't prevailed, no matter what color they are...people are going to be who they are, and if someone wants to rise above the rest, more power to them. As long as everything is equal to all races and fair to all races then we shouldn't have any issues.

T at 8:42AM on May 16th 2008

15. Just doing our daily check of BlackVoices to see if they have anything positive to say about the Obama path to the White House. And as I expected....nothing positive. Time for all visitors to start monitoring this site regularly. If nothing is ever mentioned in a positive note re: Obama's Historic Campaign....then we all need to take note....and respond accordingly.
