Talk Time: Robin Givens Readying A Return To Daytime TV

Robin Givens

Robin Givens is about to give daytime talk a second chance.

The 43-year-old actress had a previous stint as a daytime talk show host when she followed Mother Love as the second host of the nationally syndicated 'Forgive or Forget' in 2000.

Givens' new talk show will be produced by talk show veteran Montel Williams, whose self-titled talk show will end after 17 years on May 16.

There's been no announcement for a target airdate for Givens' new show.

Givens will star as controversial New York City radio host Wendy Williams in the forthcoming movie, 'Queen of Media,' which is based on the New York Times bestselling book about Williams' life.

Though she is infamous for being the ex-wife of former boxing champ Mike Tyson, Givens is famous for starring on TV series like 'Head of the Class' and films like 'The Women of Brewster Place.'Robin Givens & Montel Williams

The New York City native made her Broadway debut in 2006 in the long-running musical ' Chicago '– in which she was the first Black woman to portray the leading role of Roxie Hart.

In June 2007, Givens released an autobiography called 'Grace Will Lead Me Home' and Oprah Winfrey devoted an entire hour to the actress sharing her life story.

"There's so much I had to process about my life and this book will probably be a lot different than most people are thinking of it," Givens said when I interviewed her in October 2006 about the tome. "It really deals with three generations of women, my family and sort of breaking cycles. Hopefully it will be very empowering to women, that's my hope and goal for it."

The twice-married Givens has also dated shock jock Howard Stern and actor Brad Pitt. The actress has two sons, Michael, 16, and William, 9.

8. WHY IN THE HECK IS EVERYONE TRYING TO HAVE A TALK SHOW! HELLO!

tt at 5:12PM on May 24th 2008

9. Congrats to her!!!

I never understood why people were against her. Look how Mike Tyson crazy self turned out. She was right after all. Anyway that was twenty years ago. She still looks better than half the haters on here anyway.

Talulazoeapple at 11:35AM on May 25th 2008

10. Go Robin! She is up for the gig now. Before she was emotionally entangled...

Terrah at 3:43PM on May 25th 2008

11. Yeah for Robin. It's about time she received some shine. And about time for black women to forgive and forget.

Talulazoeapple at 12:46AM on May 26th 2008

12. If this proposed new show that Ms. Givens hosts doesn't address the crucial issues that holding black households together, what's point?
Let's hope that, if this TV venture gets off the ground, it will have more redeeming qualities than the fare we've been force-fed to distraction for the last ten years or so.

Anthony Walton at 11:52AM on May 29th 2008

13. ms. givens...you go get your tv show!

chante at 8:22PM on May 30th 2008

14. Robin everyone needs to work, but is it really good for your career to play "Wendy Williams" can we all just forget about "Wendy Williams". Because judging from all of the internet rumors, I'm sure we won't get the full story.

Big Bea at 10:13PM on Jun 16th 2008

15. Go Robin!!!! I very interested to see what she will bring to day time tv.
