Suspect Pleads Guilty in Taylor Slaying

Posted May 15th 2008 12:29PM by Cheryl Thompson
Filed under: Casually Obsessed

From AP:

MIAMI (May 15) - One of five suspects charged in the slaying of Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor has pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree murder and burglary.

Defense attorney Michael Hornung says that according to the plea agreement, Venjah Hunte will serve 29 years in prison and cooperate with prosecutors.
Hornung says Hunte pleaded guilty on Friday but prosecutors requested the plea agreement be sealed because investigators were pursuing the fifth suspect.

That suspect, 16-year-old Timothy Brown, was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder and armed burglary of an occupied dwelling.

Taylor died of massive blood loss after he was shot at his Miami-area home during a botched robbery in November.

1. What a waste. Sean Taylor realized his dreams and these pathethic young men have wasted their potentials. Thre is a crisis in the nation and everyone thinks it is just a black problem. Aren't we all citizens of this society?
Problems have a way of spilling over into the greater community. Then mabye attention will be given to this crisis.

5. Sometimes in order to get all the people involved, they have to offer a plea. Unfortunately this is how our criminal justice system works. It is effective at times, in this case, I don't think he got enough time for the crime he did. However, that is the sentence set forth for 2nd degree murder in the state of Florida.

9. This whole thing is a shame; and most of all a product of bad parenting , and the absence of a God fearing conscience. We as parents need to raise these kids without the materialistic street value of life and place some type of religion in their Lives!!!!!!!! Devalue the streets. Most of all place the meaning of living and the value of purpose into these want 2 be Thugs. I also push for more strict guns laws, governing weapons on our streets. Lawful or unlawfal. America we are out of control. We can NOT expect other countries to allow us to help bring Democracy nor order to their regions when we CAN NOT bring the same to our own. The key is to raise Intelligent well rounded offspring to create a safe and sane future for the well- being of the entire Human Society. Excuse me for going deep on you all , " I'm just tired of all this criminal unstableness.

10. There are no winners in this case. May Sean Taylor RIP, and Pray for his family.

11. Of course this story is an awlful one! I don't mean to make light of Mr. Taylor, but what really upsets me is that this is a story that plays out literally every day! What really gets underneath my skin is that these cases are given priority when it is a public figure that has been violated! Perhpas if we as a nation would begin to care on all levels...we would not have as many cases like this to read about. I am not making excuses for the individuals who blatantly disregared a buman life! Their legal punishment is a slap on the wrist as far as I am concerned...It is the punishment their souls will dish out that will perhaps be most effective! Mr. Taylor for whatever reason was a victim of a vicious cycle that has to be addressed...I read about elderly people being beat up or killed for a few dollars...I read about yound ladies, being raped and killed...this is all too much! What are we going to do about it???????????

12. what does open your eyes black pepole mean ? are you trying to blame white people

richard jacobs at 5:29PM on May 17th 2008

13. What disturbs me the most is the question of HOW MANY lives have been affected by this incident? Not only the Taylor family, but the families of these menial minded souls, that should have been out honing their skills to try and reach the level of someone that may have been able to help them. Instead they kill him along with any chance they have to be productive in life. Stop killing each other Brothers. Don't you understand that it's a trap to incarcerate you, IF you don't die? Thats an on purpose, not an accident. Because your real enemies don't care which. Wake up or you're all through.

14. This was a tragedy that our young people continualiy commit. I have a son who was headed that way but forunately he changed before an incident like this happened. Young people, you must remember death is final. think before you act.
