Ice-T To Do Film on Pimp-Turned-Novelist Iceberg Slim

Posted May 14th 2008 7:38AM by Wilson Morales
Filed under: It's All Reel

According to the New York Post, ICE-T - who named himself after his hero, Iceberg Slim - is producing a documentary on the pimp-turned-novelist.

'Iceberg Slim has been one of the most influential people in black culture,' the rapper said. 'Few people know the story behind the man and it's time that story is told.' Slim, who churned out such urban classics as 'Trick Baby' and 'Mama Black Widow,' drew on his 35-year involvement in prostitution and crime to turn himself around in middle age and become a world-renowned writer.

Ice-T, who has played Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola, hasn't had a prominent role on the big screen since he did 'New Jack City' with Wesley Snipes.

4. Ice-T lucked out getting the part as a cop, yet after polluting the young black mind with his rap-murder-poor excuse for music he may not do that well in movies. You have to be one to act as one, so cut the praise until you see his pimp act. His role as a cop was minimal. And, Mary dream on. On his best thinking day he wouldn't remember you, as you have been one in thousands of women.
