Houston Teen Arrested Over Skimpy Prom Gown

Posted May 13th 2008 10:00AM by Jeff Douglas
Filed under: BlackSpin

A young barely-dressed-Beyonce-wanna-be in Houston will never forget her prom night.

There's a picture of herself in handcuffs to remember it by.

My prom was not this cool. ...

See, Marche Taylor's golden gown was ruled inappropriate for her senior prom before she even set foot on the dance floor. School prom bouncers told her the skimpy number violated the school dress code. She offered to cover up, but still, no dice.

Then the school officials thought she was rollin' commando (no panties).
Taylor, who's 17, corrected them, telling them that it was really none of anybody's business what was under the dress.

That's when things got outta hand. Next, the police showed up. (No, not the fashion police.) They handcuffed her and escorted her out.

So, the school has a dress code and she violated it. Case closed? She wouldn't be caught dead wearing this gold two-piece swim suit in algebra class. It's not OK for prom, right?

"I actually like the dress. Everybody else likes my dress," Taylor told CNN.

Yes, honey, you'll be hard pressed to find a horny-hormone ragin' boy at your school who would not like to see you half naked. But I'm sure you are a beautiful young woman fully clothed!

Now,
Marche just wants is her money back for her prom ticket.

"They didn't give me any options, but to go to jail or go home."

Prom Dress Arrest

Marche Taylor's prom night ended in a confrontation with school officials and her being escorted out in handcuffs. All because school officials said her dress was inappropriate for the school prom.

    CNN

"I actually like the dress. Everybody else likes my dress," Taylor told CNN of her custom-made dress. Madison High School Principal Aubrey Taylor said says the dress was inappropriate and violated the rules of dress code.

    CNN

She was told her dress violated a school dress code. Here she is pictured with her friend in the lobby of the prom hotel.

    CNN

The high school senior offered to provide more cover, but Taylor was still denied access to the final dance of the school year. At that point, Taylor told CNN she was furious. After all this was her senior prom. She argued if she couldn't get in, she wanted her money back.

    CNN

A photographer snapped a photo of Taylor in handcuffs, being led out of the hotel.

1. First of all, her mother should've invested a lot more time into her daughter because I find it hard to believe that her mother helped her pick out that piece of trash. Unless she's one of those mothers living through her daugthers.
In any case she can't have the best of values because you should feel like and look like a princess on your prom night not a prostitute, and the fact that she chose not to wear underwear really lets me know that this girl and her parents both need a good ass-whippin'
And her outfit has nothing to do with Beyonce so it was no need to bring her up, but if you were going to compare her to a celebrity it should've been Lil'Kim.

2. It's a naked dress. Was it a naked prom. I don't think so.

3. I LIKE THE DRESS I DON'T SEE WHY SHE WAS ARRESTED
(IF IT WAS MY CHILD I WOOD SUE)

4. WHAT WAS THIS GIRL THINKING?? SHE LOOKS LIKE A STRAIGHT UP WHORE IN THIS "DRESS." HER TOP IS BARELY COVERING HER NIPPLES. WHAT KIND OF PARENTS WOULD LET THEIR TEENAGE DTR. OUT OF THE HOUSE LIKE THAT? ALSO, SHE HAD THE NERVE TO TRIP WHEN THEY WOULD NOT LET HER IN THE PROM?

5. This young lady clearly knows nothing about "CLASS"! I'm not going to totally blame her for this truly poor taste in judgement. The young ladies of today (not all young ladies) are so busy trying to be something or someone that they are not. NEWS FLASH...girls you can't dress like the girls on videos or the girls you see in many of our fashion magazines. Find your comfort zone! You can be sexy, and classy at the same time. Showing all your goodies is not the answer. She was wearing a "come get me dress". What's wrong with our young society? I agree with the powers that be for not letting her attend the prom dressed like that. Where was her mother, father, aunt or grandmother when she stepped out in that get up?

Cheryl at 11:41AM on May 13th 2008

6. I want to know where this girl's mom or guardian is.
Why would you allow your daughter go out in public not fully clothed looking like a hooker on the street trying to make a sale. I just want to know what her mom has to say in all this, or maybe she does have a mom. I watched her on the news and she really does not believe she did anything wrong. I cannot see her doing anything positive with her life.

7. I don't think she should have been arrested, but she should have been told to change the dress or the school should've issued a dress code to all the parents. that dress is inappropriate for a high schooln student.

cee cee at 12:04PM on May 13th 2008

8. The dress was not appropiate for a teenager. She looked like a street walker. I give props to the school for doing what her parents should've done.

Rebecca at 12:08PM on May 13th 2008

9. I dont blame the school. She should have worn something more classy. She looks like a tramp and her mother should have put her foot down or at least have gotten her a better dress.

peaches at 12:10PM on May 13th 2008

10. Her mama needs her behind kicked for that dress. That is NOT sexy...it's whorish.

Daddy's Girl at 12:12PM on May 13th 2008

11. It is a shame that someone would let their daughter go to the prom looking like a slut. Young people need to realize that dressing like a slut will get you some attention, but is it the right kind of attention? You are supposed to look like a princess on your prom night, not a two dollar whore.

Ms. Dot at 12:16PM on May 13th 2008

12. Too much

Peg at 12:31PM on May 13th 2008

13. This is supposed to be a Special Day to remember! All this girl will remember is, not getting in her own PROM and being HANDCUFFED BY COPS! What was she thinking? Did her mother really think that this skimpy AZZ dress was "APPROPRIATE" and "ACCEPTABLE"?

It seems these days, young women are growing up too fast! It's all the parents fault. You wonder why, there are awful people out in this world RAPING our children! I guess she wanted her 15 min of FAME and wanted to go out like that?

"DimePiece" at 12:38PM on May 13th 2008

14. WOW!! I think its despicable that a young woman would want to portray herself like a prostitute in front of her peers. She will not be remembered for her school work, but for the outfit she wore to the prom. And what mother would allow her to dress so inappropiately??

Charlene at 12:56PM on May 13th 2008

15. Face it folks, controversy sells. Hopefully this young lady can capitalize on it the way other's have capitalized on the interest that the public shows in extreme behavior of a sexual nature. Look what it got Vanessa Williams. Hannah Montana girl was already famous, but her stock has likely soared. There are many more. Hopefully this girl will grow to be productive and rise above the negatives that her action has given rise to, and become someone that everyone will be proud of. Let's hope that she overcomes the harsh judgments, and that she and all young people develop strong values that help them get through this complex but wonderful life.
