Kanye West, Naomi, Vivica Fox: Fashion News

KANYE WEST'S OWN SUNGLASSES BRAND

(Kanye in a pair of Ksubi sunnies)

Hip-hop lovin' fashionistos have eagerly been anticipating the arrival of rapper Kanye West's Pastelle clothing line.

The trendsetter, who inspired a legion of fans including Jay-Z to rock an Arabic scarf a' la Jesse James style, will begin with the release of Pastelle sunglasses as part of his collabo with Australian brand Ksubi. West has been a fan of the company himself having rocked their shades to shows for quite some time. "I love the sunnies Ksubi has produced over the years. It is an honor to collaborate with them."

"Sunnies"?

Co-created by head designer George Gorrow, the pair will drop limited-edition gold frames for $2,000 in October. What a price tag! Clearly he's not thinking about his core audience. Somebody's spending a little too much time in Japan lately...

BLACK GIRLS WILL RULE VOGUE

Major fashion mag VOGUE ITALIA is currently shooting an issue featuring all Black girls. That's right, all Black. Editor-in-Chief Franca Sozzano told VOGUE UK, "Nobody is using Black girls. I see so many beautiful girls and they were complaining that they are not used enough". Entirely photographed by Steven Meisel, the July 2008 issue will also feature Iman, Liya Kebede and Chanel Iman, to name a few. They'll continue to feature other under represented ethnic groups in upcoming issues. Hopefully other print pubs will follow suit stateside.

The cover star? Not the blackberry weapon-wielding Naomi Campbell but newcomer Jourdan Dunn. The 17 year-old fellow London native who was discovered there in 2006 has been the talk of the industry ever since she walked an impressive 75 shows this past spring even for Prada who hasn't used a Black model, (Naomi) since 1997! Will Jourdan Dunn be heir to Naomi's throne?

VIVICA SEARCHES FOR NEXT TOP STYLIST

Actress/producer Vivica A. Fox is set to host a new reality show for VH1 which will debut on the network this summer. "Glam God with Vivica A. Fox" is a style search with contestants competing to win in three major categories-hair, makeup and wardrobe. Slated to begin taping next month, the eight-episode series ends with the ultimate stylist winning $10,000 and a chance to style an A-list celebrity. Fashion cues from Vivica? I'm not too sure.

trigga at 6:21PM on May 16th 2008

6. GREAT FOR VIVICA! I ADMIRE VIVICAS' WORK, SHE IS GREAT IN EVERYTHING THAT SHE HAS DONE. I THINK THAT SHE IS A ROLE MODEL,AND A WOMAN OF CHARACTER. AGAIN, "GO GIRL"!

ALSO LET'S ALL GIVE A ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO "TRIGGA" WHO OBVIOUSLY HAS NOTHING ELSE TO DO!

Ms. Mac at 9:35AM on May 17th 2008

7. Ya'll are some funny ass people! lol. But Ms. Mac is right. Obviously Trigga has nothing else to do. I'm so tired of black people disregarding and discrediting their own people. We need to stop! She's always been great with all her other work and she's a bombshell! Let's try supporting our people for a change and hope that God blesses us with something of our own to be proud of. Peace Out!

MUSICMANWINGO at 10:58AM on May 17th 2008

8. It is VERY sad that she chooses to DISFIGURE her face with plastic surgery. WHY do black women HATE their "ethnic" nose? Soon as they make a million, it's off to the surgeon.

Kelly at 11:00AM on May 17th 2008

9. I AM A CLOSE FRIEND OF VIV'S AND FOR THE RECORD, SHE'S NEVER TOUCHED HER NOSE!!! THE ONLY THING SHE'S DONE ARE HER TEETH, AND A LITTLE FAT INJECTION IN HER CHEEKS (WHICH IS PROBABLY WHY IT LOOKS LIKE HER NOSE IS SMALLER OR ALTERED). I CAN SAY THIS BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T CARE IF ANYONE KNOWS. AND THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH IMPROVING ONE'S LOOKS WHEN NEEDED. GOD KNOWS IF YOUR HATIN' AZZES HAD AS MUCH MONEY AS YOU DO VENOM, YOUR UGLY AZZ WOULD MAKE SOME VERY NECESSARY PHYSICAL ENHANCEMENTS FOR SURE!!

monarch at 12:02PM on May 17th 2008

10. All we need is another reality show
Whats the point.

Shana at 12:50PM on May 17th 2008

11. TO MONARCH NUMBER 9 UR CLOSE FRIEND LOOKS LIKE A THUNDERCAT . AND IF SHE WAS HAPPY WITH THE WAY SHE LOOKS MAYBE SHE WOULDM'T NEED TO PAY ALL THAT MONEY TO LOOK LIKE A DAMN THUNDERCAT. SHE USE TO LOOK GREAT NOW SHE LOOKS LIKE A FREAK OF NATURE. I DON'T CARE IF I HAD ZILLIONS I WOULD NEVER WANT TO LOOK LIKE HER. FROM ME TO U . NOT HATING ITS LOVING CAUSE I LOVE HOW I LOOK OBVIOUSLY UR "FRIEND' DIDNT. TOO BAD.

DIVATUDE!!!!! at 2:03PM on May 17th 2008

12. Great for Vivica. It's a wonderful opportunity..If she accepted the job...then I'm sure it's a great opportunity and she's definitely going to get paid. All actors/actresses do what they must to keep busy and pay their mortgages. They make calucated decisions just like we do when accepting/applying for a job. I'm sure she will make the show a success. Good for you Vivica. I wish you much success.

Renata Myrill at 2:45PM on May 17th 2008

13. I'm glad that the sister is working. Too many of our talented actors and actresses go hungry for the lack of roles in Hollywood. As for her face... she has to look at it when she's brushing her teeth not me. Age gracefully darling... you can't stop a flower from blooming unless you cut it. Think about it.

Uriah Jordan at 4:11PM on May 17th 2008

14. DO U VIVICA. MAKE DEM DOLLERS
