Mario Gets Bounced From "Dancing"

Posted May 7th 2008 12:00PM by Jeff Douglas

"Dancing with the Stars" heart throb Mario was sent packing during Tuesday's show, but what's harder to believe is ABC's dancing competition made it to its 100th episode.

Anything's possible. Afterall, Marissa's still in the competition with her two left feet. ...
Mario definitely proved himself as a much better dancer and more graceful and Marissa just can't shut up.

But as our friends over at TV Squad point out, this season has had much better talent than we've seen in the past (Vivica A. Fox, Jerry Springer, Master P and the rest).

Are you sad to see Mario go?

1. I don't watch Dancing with the Stars faithfully. If I am in my office, surfing the net, I will flip the television on for "white noise". The couple of times that I was tuned in to this show, it seemed to me that the older British judge was unnecessarily harsh on Mario. During the airing of this show, it came out that Mario's mother was a drug abuser, and because the British judge is monetarily vested in this show, he probably did not want Mario to win the show because of the baggage that would be associated with Mario, and therefore, the show. Additionally, for many years, Europeans did not think that blacks could dance ballet or classical movements because of the largeness of their thighs. Many of them still suffer under this false assumption. The Dance Theater of Harlem and Alvin Ailey -- two premier African-American dance troupes -- proved these sterotypical presumptives to be completely incorrect. In any event, I wish Mario much success in his young career. Because of his age, he hasn't established a large enough fan base yet, but he will. He seems to be a young man with both talent and class.

3. Keep the faith man keep doing what your doing..... for not being a dancer you did a swell job... Dont worry about the negativity...

4. I was sad to see Mario he is a WAY better dancer then that Marrisa girl. She should not be in the finals. Lyne made quite a few negative comments to Mario which does influence some of the audience. But I would like to know what the votes really showed. They aren't confirmed so how do we really know if he had the lowest votes from views.

chandra at 11:06AM on May 8th 2008

5. Yes Mario was a much better dancer that Marissa, I am surprised she lasted this long. He always nailed those dances, and was very elegant with his dancing. I am very dissatisfied with how this show got rid of him so soon, I even believe he was better than Jason, although Jason has come along way.

Ann at 1:02PM on May 8th 2008

6. Mario is better than Jason and yet the judges score Jason better. The judges defenitely pick their favorites regardless of who is actually better. Mario is much more graceful. Jason is handsome but Mario is by FAR a better dancer.

Cynthia at 1:45PM on May 8th 2008

7. Mario was actually the better dancer than all the contestants, with the exception of Kristi Yamaguchi.
It really is based on the popular vote, and his fan base is smaller than most of the dancers and he is lesser none, as witnessed by Emmitt Smith winning over Mario Lopez.
Mr Lopez was the better dancer, but Emmitt had the luxury of having all the football fans and teams vote for him.
Mario is a true gentleman and given his youth and his background, showed that his true character and his awesome talent will survive even the harshest of critics.

Myra at 2:14PM on May 8th 2008

8. maybe if mario had chosen someone who could dance to partner with he would have lasted longer karina smirnoff was as stiff as a board, but he obviously has no taste, and as to the previous posters i disagree i think emmitt was a great dancer he and cheryl complimented each other, that the key to great competion,

robyn4peace at 2:41PM on May 8th 2008

9. Mario, You are the best. Your moves were on time and very well executed. The judges were unfair in their judgement. True, you are young and don't have the following of some of the other contestants but, don't worry you were superbub. Getminto another dance competition and show them how good you are. Look what happened to the American Idol contestants that were letm go. Then, you don't need them because you have so many other talents. I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10. I think Marissa should have been eliminated instead of Mario. She is not as graceful as Mario was. Marissa's fan base is larger than Mario's because for one thing she has all the fat girls keeping her going. His fan base is younger and probably don't watch Dancing with the Stars. She can't even believe it herself that she has lasted this long! I didn't know who Mario was but now I see that he is a fine young man and his appearance and exposure on this show will only help him inspite of Lynn's nasty comments.

Ann at 3:18PM on May 8th 2008

11. I think Mario was eliminated because his fan base was smaller than that of the other contestants.

I am not a fan of Marissa's, but I appreciate that she attempted to make her presences know in an area where women of normal size do not generally participate. It was mean to say that the fat girls voted for her; and I also believe it is not true. If all the normal sized - fat girls - had voted for her, she would never have been in the bottom 2.

Marissa is not a good dancer and I think the clothes chosen for her are horrible. The clothes bring attention to her weight rather than detract from it. I think she should wear loose fitting garments. But it is only a show and to win does not necessarily mean you are the best dancer, it just means you are more popular and/or well known. PS. To be really mean, I think she dances as well as Vivica Fox and Priscilla Presley.

12. MARIO WAS A BETTER DANCER THEN MALISSA. THE JUDGES ONLY EXPRESS THERE EXPERTISE. THE ONE JUDGE I WOULD LIKE TO SEE LEAVE THE PANEL IS BIG MOUTH AND EVERY ONE KNOWS WHO HE IS.

RAYMOND R ROGGATZ at 4:21PM on May 8th 2008

13. last season they voted the cheeta girl off,so we know they do not want good dancers.
i"m done with the show.

bobbi at 4:22PM on May 8th 2008

14. I agree with something someone said earlier. The older Brit judge was unnecessarily harsh on Mario, as a matter of fact he was nasty in his comments to this young man, and I really think there is a better way. Mario's partner is an excellent dancer, and even though she is a professional dancer, the brit's comments reflected on her skills as well. Shame, shame, shame on you Lyne. Mario was not the greatest, but he was a helleva lot better than motor mouth thunder thighs.

Loren Logan at 4:37PM on May 8th 2008

15. I AGREE WITH ALL, ESPECIALLY ABOUT LYNE OR WHATEVER. HE WAS OUT OF LINE WITH MARIO,TALKING ABOUT HIS FEET AND ALL.SO WHAT! THE MAN CAN DANCE AND HIS FEET SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. ACTUALLY DANCING WITH THE STARS SHOULD GET NEW JUDGES. I'M SURE THERE ARE OTHER BALLROOM JUDGES (REAL ONES) THAT CAN JUDGE THE STARS WITHOUT ALL THE HARSH COMMENTS AND INUENDOS.
