"Whatever progress has been made with contributors and commentators as of late, the cable networks have a long way to go before they look like the American people," Karl Frisch, the spokesman for liberal television watchdog group Media Matters for America, told the The New York Times earlier this month on a profile that explored the connection race and gender politics being explored by a diverse panel of pundits.

And now Harold Ford Jr., a former congressman from Tennessee, made his MSNBC debut as a political analyst, after leaving Fox News, according to the Times.
