That is one of the many colorful comments left by forum posters on the Web in reaction to yesterday's conviction of former Newark mayor Sharpe James on fraud charges. He and his ex-girlfriend, Tamika Riley, a Newark publicist, got caught up in a web of rigging cheap sales of city property from the city to her so that she could sell them for a healthy profit. Not only are they looking at up to seven years imprisonment, but also another federal trial for spending city money so that he could live like a baller/shot caller.Newarkers and other New Jerseyans were not silent about it, either. They made a point to let the world know (via the New Jersey Star-Ledger) that they were waiting for the day Sharpe gets pricked.

Guilty as charged! The shame of it all is why? Why would he sell out Newark for that piece of trash, Tamika. 20 years of service and this is how it ends. Well not really, because Sharpe has more legal problems to worry about.Still it is sad to see someone entrusted with so much authority, betray the people who were so good to him. I hope this sets an example for Booker and all the rest, that people are fed up.
PatPassaic:
How surprising! Took 6 days because the food was so good in the jury room!
PRUCENTERFUN:
No black/white issue here. I am a Newark resident and am elated to see that Sharpe and Tamika have been found guilty on all charges. Sharpe has been doing dirt for years having people do his dirty work for him that now it is all catching up to him.
Go Christie :)
babaganhoosh0:On all counts! Yachts, rolls royce, etc. Unfortunately he is only the tip of the iceberg in NJ with all the corruption, waste of funds, patronage, etc. It's only the worst cases that get the press coverage and get caught - there's so much bloat in government its soooo easy for people to improperly and illegally benefit from public funds and public positions.
NorthNewark:

People are celebrating like they did after Evilene, the Wicked Witch of the West was killed.
Now, I don't know if it really will be a "Brand New Day" in Newark, the current mayor, Cory Booker has a TON of problems to solve, not the least of which is the city's violent crime rate, one of the highest in the nation. James himself is part of a long, long list of Jersey politicians to sink in the quicksand of his own sleaze.
But at least, for the first time in quite a while, the people there can breathe easy knowing that justice was done for once.

1. I moved out of new york 3 years ago and for the time I did live there Newark mayor Sharpe James has been doing grimy things since he got into office.I do not understand how he remained in office so long, when it was known how corrupt he is.Hell just look at him that is not the face of an honest, upright man.He has crook written all across his ugly face.As far as him and his harlot in crime are concerned, I am glad they got caught..Throw those leeches in jail.
