Crystle Stewart Crowned Miss USA

Posted Apr 17th 2008 3:09PM by Esther Dixon
Filed under: Lifestyle, Style Spotter

Let's give a big congratulations to the newly crowned Miss USA!

Crystle Stewart, 26, of Missouri City, Texas, has rightfully won the very pretty crown coveted by many pretty girls. Prior to snagging the title, Stewart had her own party-planning and motivational speaking company, as well as modeled professionally.

Stewart completed her degree in Consumer Science and Merchandising at the University of Houston. She is also founder of "Inside/Out" which aids young women in building self-esteem. She won a silver medal in the relay at Jr. Olympics and is a fourth generation educator who says she wants to dedicate her life to international philanthropy.

Acording to pageant tradition, during her reign, Crystle will work with the official causes of Miss USA, which include breast and ovarian cancer advocacy. She will travel nationally as an advocate for organizations such as the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, the National Breast Cancer Coalition, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Gilda's Club, among others.

She will represent the USA at the Miss Universe pageant set to be held on July 14, 2008 in Nha Trang, Vietnam.

Stewart is the fourth African-American to win the Miss USA title.

On the day of her big win Crystle is adorned in a hand beaded champagne gown, which sparkled just as much as she.

This prom season you may want to consider beading on your own gown. For certain you will draw attention from the lovers and force the haters to put on shades, since you will be stepping brightly!

Here are a few dresses Style Spotter spotted:

BCBG tired Satin beaded halter dress $168

cybernetplaza.com beaded dress $199

Beaded stretch evening dress by Sean Collection $318

2. Even though didn't' watch it, it's nice to see an Afro-American win. I am looking at these pics of her and other women all of them look ANEREXIA. It seems that everyone on there has to look like a STICK. It wouldn't' hurt, to add some weight? I guess, the pageant wants a certain image. I feel that this needs to be a change not saying the women aren't beautiful but?

Big Ups To, But? at 7:39PM on Apr 17th 2008

3. Hey Crystle Stewart! Take off your weave! Let's see what you really look like without all that polyester hair! And somebody feed this girl a double wopper WITH CHEESE!!!

lilbadj at 4:41PM on Apr 23rd 2008

4. Hay #3 lilbadj, Post a photo of you and your
wife and lets see what it looks like
A (Double Wopper)?

O Dennis at 12:49AM on Apr 24th 2008

5. Hay Dennis I'm female you idiot. My hair is real, looks better and I don't look anorexic. Sorry!

lilbadj at 1:07PM on Apr 24th 2008

6. I like her, she seems to be well-round, well-spoken, and grounded. She comes from a long line of educators, and you can tell that she is intelligent. I wish the best for her in her reign, she has bright future ahead of her.

IPress at 10:27AM on Apr 25th 2008

7. NONE of these girls look healthy and not even attractive. They do NOT represent true beauty. I see why i don't watch this stuff anymore because it's superficial....

Felicia at 2:18PM on Apr 28th 2008

8. I see we as a "people" are still against one another & jealus hearted; especially when we are trying to follow & achieve our dreams. Who cares if she wears a weave or not. Crystle is a sweet, sincere & genuine young woman. She is also a self professed Christian. What other beauty queen have you heard admit that she has Christ in her life. This quality alone will make her a success as Miss USA and possibly as our next Miss Universe. We need a young woman like this representing our country. We need to get behind her and be proud an African American woman is wearing the crown that aluded our beautiful sisters for many years.
